So Rachel tweeted that a brother of one of the show writers got attacked in NYC last night...

Yeah, it's sad that Greg is gone but the forced change in direction seems to suggest a juicy future for the show. Like it can reach its fullest potential now that we don't have to focus on a love triangle. That ending was exciting.

The songs were on point this episode!

I'm bummed to see Greg leave, but I'm happy to see that Heather will get some much needed attention this season.

First two episodes this season were rough, and mid-way through season one was where I started questioning if I even still liked it much, but the show's on a great upswing in quality now. Glad Greg is gone (or seems to be) and hopefully they can keep Josh out of the picture for a few weeks. Keeping Rebecca in the boyfriend rut caused a lot of creative stagnation, despite it being such a major part of the series' overall concept, and I'm hoping that - much like Jane the Virgin - their initial selling point becomes less and less important as we go along.

We all know that the true love story of the show is Rebecca and Paula's friendship.

Tracks from When Will Josh and His Friend Leave Me Alone? are finally up on Spotify.

It Was A Shit Show is still great.

If there's one complaint I have of the music in the series overall, they don't clean up dialogue bits too well. On that same track, Rachel Bloom's lines interspersed with the track is literally cut from the episode track and pasted on the song, so you hear a lot of background noise when her lines come in.

Watching the most recent episode right now. My spouse is from the Philippines and no lie; sorting, organizing, and filing is how they de-stress, so watching that Josh scene made me lose my shit. I don't even know if that is a stereotype or if it is self-aware or what, but it felt absolutely spot on.

ETA: Okay, done. WhiJo/D continues to be one of the best relationships on the show. Not sure how I feel about Josh/Anna. Feel like Josh doesn't really have a place left on the show? Maybe Brittany Snow will be great because she definitely has the chops, but I kind of wish she hadn't been introduced as his "third time's the charm" potential love interest. Adore the Sunil character and the plot with him and Paula. Will be interesting to see which of these relationships are sustainable long term and where they will go from here.

Starting to hate the Blam into since it is so focused solely on who Rebecca was on the first episode of season 2. That arc is over (hopefully forever), so get with the program, intro.

Did anyone catch the bit with the fedora when Sunil and Paula were hacking into the student's computer?

I doubt the arc is over.

That was lampshaded so hard that I doubt anyone who had eyeballs on the screen missed it.

I doubt the arc is over.

I really feel like the Valencia x Josh and Rebecca x Josh stories are over. Maybe they'll surprise me in a good way, but there's only so much beating a dead horse can take. I love the actor, but Josh is a shitty cheating commitment phobe who consistently ignores good advice especially from the awesome Father Brah. He could use a redemption arc, but not a future with V or R.

I love the new and refreshed relationships we get to see this season now that the big love triangle stuff is out of the way.
I think Josh and Rebecca are done for a while, but she'll for sure be jealous when Anna is around.
I also doubt Greg is gone forever. While his contract ran out and he signed different projects when it was unsure if Crazy Ex-Girlfriend was going to be renewed, Im sure he'll be back in the future, even just as an occasional guest.

I'm glad Valencia and Rebecca are friends again. They always got along well in the past until Rebecca screwed it up somehow.

She deliberately torpedoed the friendship to put V in Josh's family's good graces. It is maybe the only selfless thing the character has ever done.

That's a lot of shade at Josh when Rebecca has done worse things.

Is it right that Rebecca is angry at Josh? I mean, she was the crazy one in that relationship.

Rebecca being shitty doesn't absolve Josh of being shitty. I don't think anyone is in denial of Rebecca's horribleness. When she loses things or is in pain it is usually her own damn fault and well deserved.

I really wish they hadn't thrown in the abrupt pregnancy scare breakup, because Rebecca was on the road to being less of a doormat to him, and clearly showed that he was going to continue to treat her like trash. I think Santino Fontana (Greg) leaving the show accelerated a Josh/Rebecca breakup process in the script that was going to happen anyway.

Did give us some damn fine songs though.

I need to rewatch the episode, I missed things from distractions.

I imagine there's a level of self awareness with it.

I love that they're leaning so hard on Rebecca and Paula being the emotional anchor this season. Too many things broke my heart.

While it feels a little too sudden, I loooooove Valencia being so friendly with Rebecca and now Heather.

the fedora shade lmao

Wait. Is this a Filipino thing? I'm Filipino and am known to organize/sort my apartment after a long week at work......

Sure but you only called out Josh for being shitty in a post about why Josh and Rebecca shouldnt be together in the future.

When a woman wants commitment and a man has history of commitment problems, I don't know what else to tell you. He doesn't see women as people, he sees them as distractions from his own thoughts. The episode underlined it, highlighted it, and put three exclamations points after it.

We already knew, and it was well shown, why they shouldn't be together because of Rebecca's problems in literally every other episode of this show, but sure, jump all over me for pointing out that dude's got issues too in the one episode that has focused on that more.

Rebecca kidnapped Valencia in this episode. Do you think I'm okay with that just because I didn't mention it? She belongs in jail, losing Josh, Greg, and Paula isn't a big enough punishment.

You guys. Priceless.

I like Josh's character and was a fan of them as a couple during most of Season 1, but we can't deny that even without Rebecca's nonsense, a long term relationship with the two of them ultimately wouldn't work for the same reasons it didn't work with Valencia. Josh didn't have an emotional connection with Rebecca besides friendship and validation on how he lives his life. Definitely nothing that suggested he was ready to settle down. Of course it can take time to get to this place, but Rebecca clearly wanted to reach this place in a less distant future. Although....

On a related note, do you think Rebecca wanted the relationship with Greg to settle down at the same pace as with Josh? I kinda got the feeling that she ideally wanted to lock Josh down due to her obsession with her, but that she was willing to make things go slower and more organically with Greg. It's a little hard for me to see just how much she does want to settle down in the near future, although it feels clear that it's an endgoal for her along the way.

Oh man that was a great episode. Thought Bubbles hit too close to home though.

Yes to the girl squad, Paula's new friendship, the Triceratops ballet (had a lot of fun trying figure out which song was being played), White Josh and Darryl, and Brittany Snow.

But no to Rebecca and Paula's friendship and
Greg still being gone from the show ;_;

This is exactly how I felt, things were getting a bit stale but these past two episodes have been really good. Its been quite emotional at times too which I didn't think the show was capable of doing.

Watched it last night and got the context of Josh organizing things to destress now. Definitely a Filipino thing as far as my experience goes lol. I legit appreciate these little touches to the show when it comes to the culture and general quirks of Filipinos.

Thought Bubbles is too real for me.

One Indescribable Instant medley during the Josh/Valencia ballet was a nice touch, especially in the context of the actual routine.

Looking forward to some Brittany Snow.

Was kind of hoping for a Girls Gotta Stick Together reprise, it's all good though.

It's weird seeing a girl group of Rebecca, Heather, and now Valencia, and Paula being separated with her own friend. But I think it's a welcome change in dynamic from the usual. And it looks like that's the conflict they're going to dive into maybe. Kind of glad that Josh was mostly separated from them for the episode.

I love Trent

I also love Little Esther

How did I not realize until right this moment that every episode of this show has 'Josh' in the title?
I really don't know how to respond to that. It took that long?

And now I feel bad for not making the OT title have Josh in it like I thought about at one point.
At least I got the Josh jokes in with the OP.

Yah, I really don't know what to say either. At first I thought it was just the episodes this season, but obviously it's all of them, which makes so much sense.

Your previous post should be called

"What would Josh think of you not knowing that!?"

Obviously this is all out of love. :)

Edit: And shame on me for just now paying closer attention to your name and realizing the Shadows of the Empire reference.
