Just a few games get snow/cold ambience right (RDR2, Death Stranding). This is one of them. I think this is one of the reasons why I wasn't bothered by carrying outlaws hiding in the high mountains.

There's a rain necklace and sun necklace which can change the weather. They have a cooldown though.

I'm loving the game but it crashes at the intro about five times. I have an Nvidia graphics card. Any tips?

What are yr specs? Do you use mods? (most mods dont work after updates and needs to be re-applied again)
Try verifying yr files in steam...maybe just some missing little thing.
I had zero crashes in 300hrs. (unless I forgot to renew my mods
)

An, listening to one of the last stand media podcasts reminds me of why I haven't put more time into this. Life is so busy and the game sounds so awesome with the things you run into and do.
Ive been so busy the last 3 weeks I haven't put tons of time in other than the initial 15 hours of which were great.

It doesn't make sense. I have a 4080S with AMD 7800X3d. It takes me so many times to actually get into the game. I said 5 but maybe 10 crashes. No mods.What are yr specs? Do you use mods? (most mods dont work after updates and needs to be re-applied again)

For the most part yeah. For a while I thought it was because I was streaming from my PC using moonlight to my tablet. But today I've just been on my PC and it's still happening which shocked me. I've mainly been doing the streaming thing which I understand crashes, but I'm perplexed when I'm trying to play on my monitor. I am using wifi which I can't change ATM, but I haven't had an issue with it til CD.
I've also uninstalled and installed at least 2x. And it's even weirder bc I usually play at 4k but currently I have to play at 1080p on the tv I'm using.
I've also reinstalled Nvidia drivers twice as well. On my third right now
Edit: okay I think I figured out the issue. When I boot up my PC opens an app on my browser that I wasn't paying attention to. Once I closed it the game worked. I never worried about it bc I have played games with YouTube podcasts playing in the background. Once I closed the browser it's working. Thanks though.

I thought so too.. but at least it's working. Maybe I won't have as many tissues streaming now either. I'll keep trying and see if I have more issues in the future.
But you're right. I have a strong PC so it didn't make sense that it was crashing at such low settings.

I agree I don't understand. But I'm going to keep testing. The app that would open the browser was tailscale. I don't really know if that makes a difference but it was a vpn app. Idk man. I'm just glad to begin the game. It's so good.

Yup, Crimson Desert has been the only game that has come close to RDR2 for me in that regard. Some thing about how all those city lights interacting with rain or fog is just so comfy.You're not wrong!
I'd put them on par with RDR 2 saint denis at night on a good PC

Does this crash happen with other games using Denuvo? Games with that DRM need to reach out to Denuvo servers occasionally for verification. Could be that the use of a VPN is interfering or some of the server IPs are possibly included in a deny-list on Denuvo's side.

I was thinking about finally jumping in some time in June. All I know about it is what I saw in the reviews.
I've heard a lot of stuff like item storage and inventory storage has been improved. Is that true?
Also two frequent complaints I heard on launch reviews is too many bosses are damage sponges that just go on forever and are so boring and also inventory management is ridiculous. Like you have to go into several menus just to get to one item you need to use for something and it gets annoying after a while. Have these things been patched?
Trying to decide if I should wait even longer than June. I don't want to start a game that will likely be a 150+ hour investment unless it's buttoned up to a place where I'll absolutely love it. And the fewest annoyances for me, the better. I have very low tolerance for bullshit these days so if I have to wait a little longer for more patches I will.

Inventory size is a non issue unless you're an extreme hoarder. Inventory management may be cumbersome but I really don't see why you would need to fiddle with it much. The only time I found it annoying is when planting seeds but I'm at the point where I only keep the farm for aesthetic purposes.
Bosses are as hard or easy as you want them to be especially now that you can adjust the difficulty.

I understand that it was supposed to be a sequel to Black Desert, so Crimson Desert makes sense for the title name, but why on 160 main story quests (without counting epilogues) do you only have 2 in the Crimson Desert?
You don't feel pushed going there by the story like the first regions or even Deleysia that's coming later: I thought the Crimson Desert would be the last zone and I started questing in Deleysia first.
There's no memorable friendly npc besides the Witch and you don't have any sense of threat, there isn't a main enemy but plenty of factions with their mini bosses. The zone brings absolutely nothing to the story or the lore (besides the Dragon).
This was the worst zone in terms of quests bugs, I had many where the npc/boss didn't spawn and I had to load a former save.
Back to Deleysia, where I completely broke the game with the Kuku Disruptor Spear (not even refined). Any mechanical boss is a joke.

So 200 hours in, probably the game I've been waiting for 42 years.
But I really don't understand how you can ruin a game like this with this camera control during the boss fights, it is something unbearable. Maybe I'm just missing something in the settings but I still fail to understand why having my current setting even remotely something anyone would want. 90% of the time the camera looks away, the lookon detaches for no reason, and sometimes it goes so far away that you can't see shit.
Then when you manage to kill the boss it feels so good tho... I also for the first time in my life decided to not use a game mechanic, no res for me. The game is way to easy if you can go around with 20 res pills.
It is super easy even in hard mode to be honest.
Still a 9.5/10 game, for now.
Also the story is not as bad as someone want me to believe. But I got some background about the world so maybe I'm biased.
