Burn him and fire charged pistol shots to the parts that are exposed. Or the head..

Just reached the terminal and took the tram to the next area. Holy shit the part to get the generators up. Game is soo good!

Burn him with what? I ain't got that far.
It literally the first one you come across and the fucker doesn't die with charge shots ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Edit, Killed him, took 3 head shots though.

Bit of a hot take but I like Silent Hill 2 and Cronos more than recent Resident Evil. Bloober makes some good ass survival horror.

For those who want the game easier, there is already a mod that seems to work well

That description lol

I like the new RE games, but it's refreshing that I don't constantly have some big immortal asshole pursuing me all over the place, so I can take my time exploring.

Just finished the hospital area - man this just keeps getting better and better.

I watched this earlier as well, good review. Personally agree with all of his points, this is a modern classic using the best mecahnics of the old survival horror greats with the tech of the new. Bloober are setting a name for themselves after many years of trial and error.

PC gamer giving the game a 5/10 is absolutely a travesty, the game is deliberately aimed at people that want an oldschool survival game that does not hold your hand, has an environmental storytelling focus and mature themes. It should not be so heavily downmaked for that unless you are a complete clown in my opinion.

It's like buying an old sports car from an enthusiast and complaining to the seller that it is old and slower than modern ones.

There are some genuine criticisms I agree with also; lack of exploration. I get it, they wanted a tight linear experience but it would have been nice if we could have walked off the beaten path a little bit more. Silent hill 2 was a good example of linear but open / a little freedom. Melee combat is also quite basic, would like to see that improved / given more impact. There are a few bugs and crashes that need to be resolved as well. Other than that I'm a happy camper.

PCgamer is run by clowns now anyway, cant put any stock in anything they say anymore.

I wonder how this works, because it can also mean unlocking difficulty options from beating the game. And that's only a choice between
normal and hard
. ;)
Looking at the mod format it's a standard file format used for mods on Unreal Engine 4-5, so I assume they accessed the contents of game files and edited some key values through UE tools, making the game easier / harder depending on those modified values. My knowledge of modding Unreal is very limited though so I might be simplifying what was actually done to make it work. But mod author said it's their first mod they ever did, so it's most likely not that complicated

I'm REALLY liking this game, the combat feels good and I like that it never gives you enough supplies that makes you feel comfortable.

My only criticism against this game is the enemy/boss designs just never scary. For me good enemy design in horror game makes me terrified to be any where close to them.

I passed first time portal and damn... Game is incredible with atmosphere, 11/10 in this aspect.

This is like return to my childhood, Poland in the 199x still looked almost the same as in 1981. Their attention to details is absolutely insane.
Blooper nailed the atmosphere in their previous games and now they also have good gameplay (they leaned with SH2, previously they only did walking simulators), I hope this game will sell enough to be successful.

Yep, enemy design looked dull and pedestrian since the first showing, probably the bigger pet peeve i had with the game pre-release.

The games is fun and atmosphere and sound design is amazing, I just wish the actual enemy designs were more scary.

Not even more scary, just less generic, from what i saw they are similar to the callisto monsters, very unoriginal design.

But i haven't seen all of them so there is hope, it's not like resident evil doesn't have lame ass enemies aswell, we straight up had shitty mold blobs and werevolves in the last 2 ffs :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

I can definitely say the enemy design in Cronos is MUCH better than mold enemies in RE7.

I'm not one to usually rag on reviewers, but I just read the PCGamer review and holy shit, that review is awful.

Literally the entire review is them complaining about the game being too hard for them. Enemies are too hard, too many tough encounters, not enough resources, upgrading is not frequent enough, etc.. etc.

Where were all these complaints about the game being too hard with Elden Ring? Cuphead? Sekiro? Why do some games get praised for their difficulty while others get docked for it?

The game is not even that hard... its a survival game ffs. Why someone reviews a survival horror game who hates the genre? I dont understand these idiots

Yeah I really wish they'd leant much harder into the body horror aspect of it. Even the "merging" mechanic looked lame, just squiggly black lines followed by a slight model change.
Just having dudes with a couple extra arms or a face here and there wasn't really that scary. Make them sound like they're in utter agony and gore it up a bit.

This is not from a well established Publisher, that's why.

It's not Souls hard, but it's definitely one of the hardest survival horror games I've played. That's not a complaint; I'm loving the difficulty level.

Even then, I'm almost 9 hours in and I've died like 3 times. But I think those that generally play on Easy in games would have a really tough time with this one.

It really sucks seeing the low steam numbers for this game man. Dont think its the silksong effect. I bet it has more to do with these idiot reviewers saying the game is hard. I want a sequel for this :(

I'm expecting it to pick up a fair bit in October. Horror games do well when Steam Halloween events come online etc. It's unfortunately just a very saturated release window with so many great games out now and this coming month competing for limited time and money I guess.

I think the game will be profitable, maybe not as much as SH games but still. Bloober struck gold with that Konami partnership.

Underwater setting aside, the more I play Cronos, the more it reminds me of Frictional Game's SOMA, the way they did the world building, atmosphere, the vibe etc. Like, it's not completely identical mind you, but I just can't shake the feeling that this game was also played some part in Cronos's creation and was an inspirations as well. Man I'd love a sequel to SOMA on the UE5, the first game was a-fuckin'-mazing.
Oooh, Soma was special. Now I definitely will be getting this backlog notwithstanding

Analog, dying 3 times in 9 hours doesn't make it IMO "One of the hardest survival horror games" - I know you're not complaining since you seem to be liking the game well enough but this talk about the difficulty is damaging the game (I don't work for Bloober but still...😁).

Personally, the game is EXTREMELY generous both with resources and ammo drops, in fact, I've never ran out of bullets/health packs or what have you, the only REAL problem the game has is that it has bugs which are game stopping and are not yet fixed even after today's patch.

Anyway, reached the
Steelworks
and... SHIT, the atmosphere in the
quarantined zones
is off the fucking charts...

Minus the G'damn bugs, this game has been amazing as a survival horror shooter experience.

I must be lucky, because in 14 hours i only encountered 1 small bug where i couldnt loot a small energy resource. Its a really polished experience for me so far

I dunno, I guess I think most Survival Horror games are very easy? I'd say that Cronos has been more difficult than any of the RE games I've played (I haven't played RE1 or CV), more difficult than Dead Space, and more difficult than Silent Hill 2.

But all of the above are relatively easy games IMO. Cronos is more of a challenge. Also, if you've just reached the Steelworks, you haven't experienced the game's difficulty yet. The game's difficulty ramps up significantly starting there.

Oh and for the record, I'm absolutely loving Cronos. It's in my top 3 games of the year right now.

At the steelworks the head for dive point part that long corridor of enemies im really struggling I thought I had loads ammo yet i'm running out before get end corridor any tips ?

So since I can't play yet I've allowed myself to listen to the OST while working and this shit is gooooooood. I mean "listen for a long time after on Spotify" good. Some cold, cold synths!

so judging by the comments about this game, its a must buy?

Not necessarily BUT, if you're a hardcore survival horror fan like many of us in here then by all means go for it, it's got great atmosphere, good graphics, great sound production (it's still no Alien isolation levels but...), great combat encounters/scenarios, smooth as fook controls (free aim/aiming sensitivity and feel), amazeballs OST AND it also plays really, really well.

Is it derivative? Sure, it's still a heck of a good time though, in fact, I can't put the darned thing down and that rarely happens nowadays...

Wish we could go back to the days where a person would be too embarrassed to actually post something like this on a gaming forum.

If you are referring to me, I have posted it here because many people were complaining about the difficulty. I am not using it and will not use it

I dont see anything wrong with someone using a mod in a single player though. If someone want to adjust difficulty to their like its their right to do so because they own the game.

Easy mode for Sekiro on nexus has thousands of downloads. This mean some people want easier challenges

yeah it's crazy people give a shit how people mod games that they paid for to play and enjoy on their own however they like.

Imagine walking into a restraunt, going up to a table where someone is eating their food minding their own business and starting an argument with them about what they ordered and how they added sauce or the speed that they are eating it, what utensils in what hand etc.

Just let people enjoy shit man. Mods exist for people to fuck around with games they paid for, it doesn't hurt anyone else.

I agree but it's a pretty low bar since Resident Evil games have a dog shit storyline and the acting is atrocious. I'm glad something is finally eating RE's lunch. Long overdue.
