Cronos: The New Dawn sold 200k copies at launch.

Goodness, this game has a whopping 30% discount on Steam keyshops vs PS5. Anything good about PC graphics in this?

There is too much competition this year. So many good games. FOMO does not matter anymore. What matters is long legs in sale.
Yep, I'm planning on picking it up later in the year.
There's just too much to play at the moment.
Happy it's doing well though, looks really good

It's not the best looking game but it looks good graphically and has awesome art direction. Blooper nails the atmosphere in their games.

I think with Dead Space Remake we got a combination of two factors - the remake probably cost a lot of money (because of high labor costs in Canada) and EA was still expecting it will sell millions of copies just like the new RE remakes. Many people didn't see the differences at first glance other than the graphics, you had to actually play the new version to appreciate things like a brand new system of travelling between areas and being able to return to them.
Dead Space Remake is incredibly good and had a ton of work done under the hood like you said. It's comical that they resurrected the franchise with a remake only to kill it again when said remake didn't do RE2 Remake numbers. They're delusional about the genre outside of RE. That franchise sells like hot cakes, not the genre. Not when you need 5mil copies, or whatever, minimum to even keep a franchise running.

I still consider this one of the big gaming injustices as of late. If they would've been handed the keys to a new Dead Space title, goddamn. They understood and fine tuned every tiny detail of that formula to perfection.

What would you want in an easy mode?
In my ideal easy mode, I'd love to have unlimited inventory slots, easier to kill enemies, take less damage, guided navigation to next objective, but that's just my ideal one, I can see how it goes against the vision of what the devs wanted to implement.

You're essentially asking for an action adventure game with horror aesthetics. Part of what makes a survival horror game are the limited resources, which adds a layer of stress in terms of the choices you make in given situations. You stop feeling vulnerable and lose the fear when you have an abundance of resources, because the challenges you face become tedious. The Last of Us 2 has lot of accessibility features, it is more of an action adventure with survival horror elements, that's as close to survival horror you'll get in your ideal easy mode.

All that said, Cronos isn't even very difficult. Most people will have different experiences depending on how they approach the game, with what items they prioritise in carrying and what they invest their resources in to upgrade.

Seems very low after all that good press Bloober got with Silent Hill 2 Remake. Such a bummer because I'm hearing good things about it.

I hope you never have any influence on game devs visions. A mode like this would make the game a complete joke.

Yep, I figured the cred they earned with Silent Hill 2 would translate to more sales. Maybe people just don't know it's the same studio.

Word of mouth is very positive so that should help over time.

Two day sales numbers. Seems reasonable given the target demographic and that it released on the weekend when everyone, even their parents, is playing Silksong.

Jeeezus that part in the morgue would be hard if i didnt have 4 pyre on me...

I had 1 shots in my pistol left and i didnt miss. I did save shotgun ammo tho.

Did my part as well. Didn't quite hit the mark for me but it's obviously a well made game and certainly their best yet.

Bought it and have it setting on my desktop for after Borderlands 4. I played the demo and yeah- sold me on PC.

If I love it, i'll double dip on Pro. Physical of course.

Not taking part in the Steam Black Friday sale is certainly a choice. I was hoping to see it. Their approach to Silent Hill 2 didn't work for me. If you're gonna make it a third person shooter, the combat needs to be better. Especially with R4make standing right there. I'd rather have seen a port with more care given to the camera and original aesthetic intentions. We ended up with the worst of both worlds where it felt like they held back a bit on the TPS components but still veered too far from the original moment to moment gameplay. It's basically an entirely different genre. I did see enough good in it to be excited for Cronos. I just didn't like SH2 as much as the general reception. To me it's like a 6/10 that is worth having in your library. Cronos appears to have a much higher ceiling for me.

That looks pretty low even with a budget of about 30 million but word of month should eventually lead them to 1 million.

At least they know they'll make everything back plus more with the planned Silent Hill 1 and 3 Remake.

200,000 at launch and 500,000 so far. I wonder how that compares to most game sale trends--did good word-of-mouth give it a larger tail, or is this typical/under expectations?

It's a good-not-great game, imo, but I enjoyed it. If it weren't for Silent Hill 2 Remake, this would be Bloober's best game to date.

Kacho Kacho so 200k sold in a few days and then 300K sold in the next 2.5 months. It was front loaded of course, but this isn't bad. Hopefully with the holiday shopping and some sales they can hit 1 million units sold after 6 months.

Gonna grab this as soon as I'm done with Alan Wake 2. I've been on a survival horror kick lately (Silent Hill 2 Remake, Tormented Souls) and this looks right up my alley.

Never gonna happen. You can handle it without a pussy mode.

The game looks fine. That is why i dont believe that in order for developers to profit, they need to reach 6 million in sales.

I was a little excited about this and certainly had my fingers crossed that it would be a banger until I saw the reviews. I definitely wasn't going to buy it full price after those.

Still waiting for a game to match or exceed Dead Space 1. I'm sure it'll happen one day.

Anyway, regardless, this at least sounds ok and I'm glad it hasn't flopped as that would put a dampener on any prospect of us getting a real Dead Space level game at some point.

Man, the game is so fuckin' good and it sold just 200K copies across all platforms at launch? С'mon, people! We can't just let it be one-off and never hear about this IP ever again. It's worth every $ at full price.

I dunno man. That seems dreadful but I'm guessing it outperformed their past games so that's something.

Which "reviews" ? The ones crying about the supposed difficulty ?

Honestly, not bad and better than I would've guessed. I wonder if they've hit enough sales to greenlight a sequel. Would be there day 1 for Cronos 2.

Eh? It's an excellent game, not quite as good as dead space but really not far off.

I didn't get it yet cause I'm towards the end of SH2 and the Callisto protocol. Plus I haven't touched the dead space remake and I've never played the original. But I do plan to get this at some point.

Selling 300k more copies is really good news, especially with how quickly people move on to other new games these days and how packed the last few months have been.

The reviews as a whole, really. The ones I came across at the time anyway.

I'm still planning to play the game at some point. I just knew from the reviews that I wasn't going to buy this day one at full price and also that clearly the game wasn't the Dead Space contender that I was looking for.

Still looking forward to playing it myself. Not sure why you've put reviews in quote marks - they were...reviews

I put it in quote marks Mont for the obvious reasons man, shall I post that Cuphead gif? 😁

Believe you me when I say that the game isn't hard, like at all and yet, these professional "reviewers" did more harm than good for the game's sales - 70-80% of the comments on Facebook and social media were about this supposed "difficulty" and...it's a friggin' shame.

I'm nearing 50, if I can finish it with no problems whatsoever everybody can.

One of the best SP experiences of 2025, the esthetics are on point, the music is beautiful and haunting, the pace is just right and it also doesn't outstay its welcome - and this comes from a guy that used to hate on Bloober team, not even SH2 Remake managed to turn me into one of their fans, this one did though.

PS: Since you mentioned Dead Space, you really have to play this

I still I dont understand the complain about he difficulty, in my opinion Evil Within normal difficult was harder than Cronos and in Evil Within there are bosses that can one shot kill you.

Cronos can be difficult if you never played survival horror game in your life.

I personally wouldn't be put off at all by talk of difficulty, at least not in this genre. If people said that game was frustratingly difficult specifically because of the combat design being bad, well, that's different. I

Anyway, I just took in a bunch of reviews and footage, synthesised all that and decided the game probably wasn't amazing and it wasn't the modern Dead Space I was hoping for. Of couse, not being amazing or the best doesn't mean a game isn't good or worth playing.

To be honest I never did shake a concern that the gameplay looked basic and I wasn't sure about the rest like storytelling. There wasn't any one thing that i honed in on from the mass of reviews, I just got the general sense that people weren't being wowed by it and declaring it a landmark title in this genre.

Obviously I withhold a real view on the game until i've played it. As you said, somebody like me who loves Dead Space 1/2, Resident Evil etc should be interested in playing this and I am.

Considering it cost $30 Million to make......this isn't bad. At an average price of $57, that'll be around $28 million in revenue in 3.5 months.

Didn't know this had a demo. Just played it. This would be an easy contender for my GOTY. Might grab it on CDKeys for $30 right now actually...

Oh, you should definitely play Dead Space man. The original. Then the remake if you like that.

If you like this kind of shit :

You really, really have to play it

You know what the best part is ? that the WHOLE game is atmospheric as in that clip.

PS : Anyone that expects RE4Re levels of carnage and enemy counter will be disappointed, this is a slow burn, heavy atmospheric and methodical game akin to the RE's of yore that puts emphasis on Item/inventory management, THICK atmosphere and small but brutal skirmishes
