CrowbCat - Less normal moments at Minecon 2016

Yes, clearly. What was she talking about then? If not the life of girls that play games?

She asked "Do you find it hard to compete in a world of gaming where it's mainly male dominated?" and just gets a random number thrown at her and told that she's wrong. That's a terrible way to answer a genuine question that could actually have lead to some decent discussion.

So those are the people that console exclusives appeal to...

Edit: Oh god, that poor girl who asked a thought-provoking question to someone she perhaps looks up to and gets a smarmy, sarcastic response. This is terrible in more ways than cringe.

I've never actually seen someone ask for a console exclusive before.

I thought they were a myth.

(Bungie pls give Xbox One players the rest of the Destiny stuff it sucks anyway)

I have a young cousin that I gave my minecraft account to a a year or so ago.

He got really obsessed, minecraft books, clothes etc.

I got real worried that he'd turn out like one of these people so I changed the password.

It sends me a password reset attempt email like every week.

Bless him.

Why you gotta go kill your cousin's dab man?

I kinda feel sorry for him (not literally but more like "aww, poor kid")

Was he like, unhealthy obsessed, or Pokemon obsessed? Cuz I f-ing loved Pokemon as a little kid.

This was how I saw it, too. She bombed the question. Ironically I f there's any GG pandering happening here, I'd actually guess it's her. Because not only did she bomb the question, she threw out that stat to answer with a certain dismissiveness as though the question was preposterous on top of it. Like, "how dare you bring up that 'male-dominated industry' nonsense?"

Sorry for low quality. I'm not a gif maker on Sunhi_Legend's level

Kudo still at Microsoft?

Eh, I think her heart was int he right place, using real facts to go, "No but look, you're not alone, there are so many other girls playing games now!", but it did kinda ring hollow because it doesn't answer the question and didn't instill faith the question asker was looking for. The woman after that beating the "all games make you a gamer" didn't help things as that shit will never resonate with people at a fucking minecraft con, those within what are the most hardcore of hardcore.

I remember being pretty cringey when I was like 9-13. Good thing those days are past me. And not recorded on Youtube.

Those poor kids.

I think you're projecting, because in context, it comes across as fine. I don't see the dismissiveness.

How do you know it didn't lead to discussion? You're watching an edited soundbite. The question was about competing with others in a male dominated world, and then she counters that women aren't quite as rare since it's not as male-dominated as the player demographics show that almost half are women, anyway.

Here's the actual video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z27f6WkDWwk#t=9h22m35s

You'll see that it's not the only answer the young girl gets.

"I've been gaming a long time and honestly I haven't run into any problems playing with male friends or random male people that I meet online. It's never been an issue for me."

There's mention of that perception being born out of the 90s due to advertising.

I do too, but sacrifices gotta be made for the greater good.

I'd say some hybrid between wow and pokemon obsessed.

I just think it's pretty unhealthy to get that obsessed over a single game, if it's the same but multiple different ones it's fine imo.

Well, when I thought Harambe the meme that will never go away couldn't get any worse...

I learn somewhere through the video that idiotic arm swaying I kept seeing these dumb kids doing was a new layer of stupidity on top of a cake of stupidity themed around the death of a gorilla.

Well, bravo internet not only have you made me hate dab and stoner culture, the harambe meme officially has earned my complete ire.

Man, being a kid that age was the absolute worst, I was just like that. Not young enough anymore for people to think you're cute, not old enough to look or act in a way that will make people take you seriously. Just a whole bunch of embarrassment.

Yeah I dug around for that clip, the two extra comments still don't actually address the girls comment at all.

Lmao I did the same thing back when Minecraft was just blowing up. He was spending way too much time playing it so I changed the password and he spammed my email with password reset requests

Oh fuck, I'm officially too old for this shit. I only watched because some of crowbcat's videos have made me chuckle but this was too much. I have no idea what the kids were asking, what that weird dance move was. I have no idea who this keemstar guy or girl is or why he or she is somehow important or popular and I really couldn't give a shit either way.

I know what Minecraft is and I know it's popular but...what. What the hell was that.

That was such a horrible reply to that question. I'm assuming it's the "females in game dev" question we're talking about.

The Keemstar Troll kid has terrifying quantities of "dont give a fuck". Getting up on stage and accepting a prize competition just to troll the entire event is some big balls "I HAVE NO LIMITATIONS" madness.

Its so weird to see "trolling" bleed in to real life. Do we immediately qualify these people as psychopaths?

They're called extroverts

You don't need to know Keemstar other than he's a pretty loathsome guy making money off of others misery

But if you are curious idubzz does a good job or explaining.
