CrowbCat: People into Videogames need Deliverance

As a person who was raised religious for pretty much all of my life living with my family, this video is all too real lol.

It's giving me flashbacks to the times when pastors has either run out of stuff to talk about or has procrastinated writing his sermon. Because then they throw around all this wild unsubstantiated fear mongering over banal everyday stuff (easiest thing to preach).

It's sad, but people really do fall for this sort of message very easily.

These people literally judge videogames by their boxart and a few screenshots.

I remember in my private Christian highschool they loved to use Doom and Diablo as proof that videogames were Satanic, as it was "obviously" leading children to worship the devil.

None of them knew what the games played like or what you did in them. I tried mentioning once that in Diablo you were actually beating up demons and the forces of Hell. Nobody cared, still satanic.

I'm always wondering who these crazies are. Most pastors I know play video games, especially ones around my age. I mean unless they're just not into that cause they're a sports dad or something.

Frustrating that the three dinguses in this video get to speak for all of us :/

I never understood the whole 'waste of time argument"...

So are movies.
So is collecting stamps...

Why are games getting special inflated flack over being something you do to relax, compared to other quintillion dumb ways people just relax and waste time?

It's just the latest hotness. It's something new for each generation.

Yeah my Jehova Witness grandmother did not like me playing Diablo 2 because of the box lol.

As a Christian, this is just deepening the hole of stupidity and ignorance that anti-religious people see in us.

I agree, there is a small amount of people who lock themselves inside and play video games all day... but not all "gamers" are like that; grow out of that stereotype already. We often replace God with a lot of things and forget about Him, and that should be the message, not this "THE DEVIL WILL ENTER YOU FOR PLAYING VIDEO GAMES" message...

I'm so happy that everyone is playing video games now, and its not seen as a "loser" past time like the people in this video claim it to be. Although some people still keep quiet about it so not to be labeled as geeky or nerdy, which is fine by me. Playing video games is as stupid and pointless as riding a bicycle or reading a book as a hobby.

Unrelated, CrowbCat is so hilarous and his videos are so well edited, I hope he keeps them coming at his own pace.

I actually agree that a lot of people take it too far with videogames. If you're an unemployed/underemployed adult and you're playing a ton of games to fill the void you should probably get it together.

Pretty sure people can live their lives however the fuck they want.

You'll be at your happiest when you come to realize and accept that there is no worthy endeavor for mankind, we're a species on a planet of billions (if not more) planets who will have little to no impact beyond our planet. 99% of people alive today will not even be remembered 100 years from now. Our planet somewhere in the far future is going to get destroyed by our own sun. We as a species are insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but that's fine. Make a life that's worth living, and enjoy your hobbies and get along with others and those you're close to. The only true meaning of life is to live it.

Because there's nothing unhealthy about staying home all day and playing video games and nothing else right?
you can do a lot worse to yourself and others than staying at home and playing games

if that person is happy, who cares. Not everyone sees life the same way you do, it's not your job to tell people what to do

I think it's ok to suggest new hobbies and life goals but getting angry, being forceful, and insulting people for life choices is not generally warranted

Some people like seeing people grow and be successful, and no one ussualy likes the oposite.

The only thing stronger than my love for Jesus Christ is my love for Video games can I get an amen?

That was awful in the most beautiful way imaginable.

EDIT: OK SO THAT FIRST GUY LOOKS AND SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE MATTHEW FOX

I literally thought that was a clip from some movie he was in or something...

Surely they of all people would understand the benefit of using fantasy to escape or at least find a little respite from the harsh realities of life...

That guy drumming up the notion that the motivation for playing videogames being that players want to get up and fight a great enemy and win an epic battle, and then further implying that religion allows that to happen for real was legit creepy.

(EDITED because the first way I phrased it was trash)

CrowbCat's video's are always great. His editing is amazing.

Gotta love that ending with the Pursuit of Happiness clip.

I wonder if any these enthusiastic preachers have said watching sports or movies is a waste of time and is stupid.

This video has shown me the way. I will no longer let video games ruin my life... after I'm finished playing Titanfall 2.

Well, I'm convinced. I'm quitting video games and devoting my life to a god that probably doesn't exist.

My mother took it to heart and would beat me for playing video games to get Satan out of me. Turns out she was just a shitty mom and all around person fueled by the fear of her preachers. Thanks for the fearmongering churches of my childhood! That sure showed me and totally cured me of my devil video gaems.

Luckily I know that not all Christians are even remotely like that but jeez, gullible people take it to heart.

I remember this one church I went to, I told this kid I played Pokemon so he told his mom who in turn told literally everyone in the church looked at me like I was a terrorist, such a welcoming group of like minded individuals.

Well, just so you know, not all are like this. In fact, I was a youth leader at my church back in the day and my pastor let me bring my xbox to the activity center (Big gymnasium) and hook it up to the gigantic projector for the youth. I started Halo tourneys and all kinds of stuff like that. I specifically remember Lost Planet being a huge hit probably because of the giant monsters on the big screen. It was awesome because I got to introduce video games to tons of boys and girls as an outreach who would have otherwise been out on the streets causing trouble.

Really sorry to hear that... I had a very similar experience with my mother as well.
