Crysis 3 Seven Wonders trailers

Looks like Crysis 2, which I'm okay with. All I really want out of this game is some badass boss fights, I think Crysis has always been lacking in that area. You'd figure this individual super-soldier would face some more formidable foes, no?

Can anyone point to me the portions where aggressive LoD system is at work? I can't seem to find any thing problematic save the very last cinematic with the weird shadow drawing and disappearance.

The blood splatter when getting shot at, in combination with the armor ability still obscures too much of the screen. It really ruins the visuals when in combat.

I find it kinda sad that Crytek overtook id Software as benchmarkers in PC gaming. I have mad respect for John Carmack, but he really needs some re-invention at id so they can take the benchmark throne back from crytek and their competitor Unreal Engine.

Yep, that's the I could see. But are there any other example?

Many times on the grass, there is also big shadow lod bug under the Pinger just before this scene.

I dont say its awful, but its there :) They have like 4 different shadow lod settings and they mask it very smartly, definitely the best this gen. For example in Uncharted 2 there was just radius where all shadows just appeared as You move, like 20-25 meters in front of You, but here even in distance grass has some kind of shadowing.
I think that it looks mindblowing for consoles, dont even know how they manage to do it and how horrible framerate will be in final game :)

Kind of a lame trailer, some of the gameplay looked neat, but the AI seemed 100% not threatening at all which made no sense to me. Also the corn-tastic sayings like "Welcome to the new world, same as the old one." I loved the first game (haven't gotten around to the second yet because I just beat the first/warhead in the past few months), but that felt rather corny to me. It should be Psycho as the lead too, he's the best character in the series. Nomad and Prophet are a bore.

Overall, cheesy trailer, some good graphics but not amazing art direction.

Edit: also whoever is playing has terrible accuracy.

The person playing was awful. The new enemy models have such an ugly design to them too, the old ones which show up after in the trailer are much better looking.

The color correction is hideous. Dennis is so on point with that complaint.

Looks amazing. I'm going to upgrade my PC before buying this though. A Intel Core 2 Duo running at 3.0Ghz isn't going to cut it.

Hey Cervat, maybe the reason your Crysis games don't sell as much as Call of Duty is because they are monochrome.

At least CoD has colors.

Dreary as fuck.

I disagree. It's a little too early to call this. We haven't seen anywhere NEAR all of the environments.

We've seen the aliens, and they are still the generic squid stuff from Crysis 2

The original game had some of the best design for an alien enemy, actually felt like they were from another planet.

You're referring to one specific element though. That's not the same as the environments themselves. Also, we don't know if there are other monsters they haven't shown off yet either. We don't even know anything about the weapons really, so... yeah.

We know they are reusing a bunch from the second game and that the viewmodels still look really bizarre.

This trailer has extra color correction done by the director. Watch the teaser... it does not have that crazy grey esque color correction

Yeah, "fields" trailer showcases much more color. Who knows how many variations of piss filter we will see in future webisodes. :-/

Crytek should learn to take risks. They have the opportunity to make some very interesting choices with story and art and yet they continue down the same old path of being safe and boring and predictable.

Valve when down the political economic alien invasion, bungie did the religious and AI thing, why doesn't crytek do somethig psycho-sexual. I want giant alien breeding factories.

They used to be one of the most ambitious studios. Far Cry and Crysis were both revolutionary. Ever since they switched to consoles they have played it safe and tried to copy other games

focus testing is killing the AAA industry one developer at a time.

Someone made a comparison at crydev.

nextgen filter applied.

Also why is there chromatic aberration in the top screen? It doesn't make any sense to me.

I don't know, they seem to be ignoring one of the biggest problems with the game, the AI. For example at 3:51 Prohet is shooting at a Cell trooper and his partner is standing there like nothing is happening.

Looks fantastic! yet i think too desaturated.

Did he fire while cloaked? I think he fired while cloaked. That would be kind of game-breaking, wouldn't it? You wouldn't play any other way.

You could fire while cloaked as long as you had a silencer in Crysis 2. I guess they just removed the need for a silencer.

You also could use the helmet to select different vision mode in Crysis 2 as well... thus, you could see cloaked people regardless. Not gaming breaking as I believe it just used up energy.

After watching the trailer a couple more times I've got some major design concerns.

1. the feedback for when he kills something looks really really poor. Half the time I couldn't tell what was dead and what was a live, or if he was even landing shots.
2. it's difficult to see what and where enemies are, and determine what they're doing/holding. How are you supposed to enter combat without knowing such vital information?
3. everytime he fires a weapon the entire screen fills with some kind of smoke or particle effect. How are you supposed to consistently aim if you can't consistently see?
4. When enemies fire weapon the entire world around them light up like they're a firework display. I don't get why? If it's a visual effect to show where enemies are, that's a good start, but it's obstructing vital information like enemy type and stuff. It ends up being a distraction.
5.the screen is constantly shifting in and out of focus, and there's no real ryhm or reason for it.

Crytek is one of the few developers that desperately need someone to tell them to stop and resolve issues. They need an editor, and someone to give them focus.
