Crysis 3 Seven Wonders trailers

I must say that does not look amazing at all, what's with Crytek's schizophrenia ?

The gameplay footage looked amazing and this...This is just bland.

Yup, the gameplay videos, like Train Yard, do a much better marketing job than these trailers.

EDIT: Best 7W trailer so far. Looked almost as if it was played with a mouse.

That action looked so uninteresting. The art design for the level was nice, but is every single level in the game just going to be grassy building swamp + TOD shift?

As a series of vignettes, this is a complete failure for hype building.

Because Crytek took the worst aspect of the first game (the stupid aliens) and have made the whole series about it.
Honestly this game would be so much better with some Gears/Resistance type enemies.

I totally agree with you on that. I need to pick up Resistance 1, I have been playing some more Resistance 3 lately and I find it more entertaining than Crysis 2...

Warhead was the last decent Crysis, the series went to shit thereafter.
All the fancy tech they show in C3 makes me wish someone with with some talent would use the engine to make an actual good FPS.

Can't say that trailer made me want to play the game.
Also I can believe what I'm seeing is the most technologically advanced thing ever but somehow I don't think it looks that impressive... that's just my opinion though.

I agree with you again, Warhead was actually better than Crysis 1 ;) I liked the multiplayer in Crysis 2 and that was about it, I think Crytek UK are a talented bunch and Homefront 2 might be a competent FPS.

The combat it shows seems to be the kind of combat I want. 360 degrees, multiple levels of elevation, with movement. The kind that needs skill.

Let's see now how much of the game consists of this instead of "Go, go, go, you must reach the door/marker/button."

imo looked better than all the seven wonders trailer before actually.

Also, it did actually look like mouse movement play.

But seirously though, the trailers are not real gameplay, they are highly choreographed... looking at these as indicators of final gameplay is kind of hard to as a result.

Crysis 2 really really REALLY let me down. Talk about console port... anyway, my hopes are timidly high for Crysis 3. This Seven Wonders series has thus far been amazing.

It has nothing to do with a console port, but everything to do with the exodus of employees from Crytek.

This thread shed's some light on the issues at Crytek:

Doesn't seem like a good studio to work and grow.

It has everything to do with a console port.

I don't believe it....the game was just a broken mess. Dumbass AI, terrible story, awful level design, bizarre gameplay choice all around. ahh yes let's just blame the consoles...what was the difference between the minimum required specs for Crysis 1 and the consoles anyway? I am guessing not much.

To me Crysis 2 was the result of a company struggling to get their real-time-all-the-time tech to run on the consoles, within the time-frame given by EA. Their gameplay also did not work as well in the tighter levels as they did in the more open levels of the first game. You need enough space/freedom of movement in the sandboxes to make you want to try out different things, that just was not their, or not enough in C2.

What I have seen/read so far makes me at least believe that Crytek understands what they did wrong, now lets hope they were able to put that in to practice.

Some "gameplay" parts in this video did look good and the ability to use alien weaponry from killed opponents (flamethrower/particle gun from damn busting & gameplay video), will give some more gun variation.

I enjoyed Crysis 2, but this really looks like it is shaping up to be a 60$ expansion.

Speaking as someone who really liked Crysis 2, I don't see what made people think that this would be anything but an expandalone. This looks pretty much like Crysis 2 with a slightly different coat of paint.

Well, yeah. Dumbed down gameplay, limited level design, weird graphics decisions, FOV, everything.

That said Crysis 2 was still one of the best FPS released the year it went out. Still hoping to have fun in Crysis 3 and I have little doubt. The gameplay even dumbed down is still the best of all the FPS of today.

It's pretty sad that Crytek has fallen down so far from it's Crysis 1 day

I'm not surprised that Crysis 2 was made under crunch time, because it shows throughout the product. None of the polish and innovation that was in the original.

I still can't believe Crytek are too stupid to understand that people want a game like the first one. Not some hybrid between the first and second.

that's all it took was just one video to make gaf flip and start hating. publishers & developers really have to go back to ignoring their communities cause this back and forth, love/hate shit will just drive them insane.

They were totally hyping the director for these things like it was going to be super epic .... What happened to that?

All the shorts have been directed by The Book of Eli's director, Albert Hughes.

I know more people that like Crysis 2 gameplay much more than Crysis 1, so You know maybe they arent that stupid, but You base that opinion on Your own?
Crysis 2 is great, but different game and after 3 quite open games i dont really understand why people are so upset that they've tried something different.

I personally want Crysis 3 to be like three times more open than C2, but definitely thats the limit. It would be nice to have one level that is completely open, but rest I would rather have to be more scripted, but still quite wide to enable several different routes to objective and ability to mess with enemies AI with cloak.

I'm pretty sure the narrower level design was a direct consequence of the game being released on console. Furthermore, the way they completely butchered the controls and nano-suit powers was definitely because the game had to work on a gamepad.
