Culdcept Saga Online is dead. Let's fix that

If anyone wants cards one of the best ways is to find someone to play (private matches) with and run fairly short games. You'll get cards win or lose, learn how to play the game, still have fun and can edit your deck between matches.

yeah i was doing that with my ex just for fun. well normal length games, but still. i suppose i could just do the versus mode and play with the story chars again with easy settings. good idea.

I've casually kept my eye on this game, but I have a ton of other games i"m playing at the moment... but Astro, I saw you playing this a lot lately and it's gotten me to really think about it again.

I'm not opposed to grinding, it just can be a bit of a bore... how much grinding really goes on?

Yeah, grinding in card-draw games like this (and MGA2) is also more bearable because you really don't level in any way, you just get a better selection of cards. It certainly doesn't take super-long to put together a good set, and from there it's just a matter of tweaking it, which the story mode encourages you to do.

I will try to log on later. I have a pretty bad deck though. This game got lost in the shuffle last year for me. I made it to I think the 3rd coliseum, but I couldnt get past it. The losers card were almost exactly the same, so that did not help much either. After the 4th lost I moved on, and was hoping to pick it up later.

The only thing I would change would be I'd rather have hands hidden. I realize this makes local play possible, but I really think for a game like this having hidden hands would be great.

The cards they give after each game are random, the only thing that changes is the number of cards you're given, so you should be getting new cards. I do remember that level being a bit tricky at first though.

So what are good settings for a basic vs. match? I'm thinking Santana Village since it's simple and everyone knows it, but I dunno about all the rest. I don't mind playing 1-2 hour matches in the story mode, but that's too long for vs. I guess you can just do timer--does that work alright? Also, there's no setting to have hands hidden is there? gargh

I don't mind playing a long match but I think the only way it would be for me to play some of the beginners would be on a random match... I'm on my way to dallas right now to move the remaining of my things, I'll be online for a bit of game time soon.

any time. what i've seen is that people basically don't allow E cards but that's about it. my deck is pretty solid now, at least for romping through single player but there are still a some serious inefficiencies in there by virtue of my still only having ~500 total cards (including duplicates) but i'm really liking the way it's coming together.

My XBox 360 is going to be out of commission for a few weeks (right before SFIV too :..( ) but I'll support the Culdcept community. My gamertag is SapientWolf. My 360 is right next to my computer so I have no excuses not to play if I'm on NeoGAF. Just shoot me a PM.

Yeah, I want to finish the SP game before going into MP. I have a deck idea in mind, though it's probably really stupid (Spudfolk rush)

Finally had my first FU CPU moment yesterday, surprisingly far into the game. Been pretty much dominating the CPU with my current deck, had hit the TG goal, and was heading toward the castle. Whoever the loser was in 3rd place (other two had about 2000 TG tops) hits a spell doing 20 damage to almost all my monsters. Ok, no prob, I lose a couple but still set. Then I am just a few spaces away and she pulls a freaking insect swarm card killing about 90% of the monsters on the board. UGH. I build back up again and am cruising along when this happens TWO MORE TIMES. Literally the entire board went from >25 monsters to <5 three times in that game. Always in quick succession before I can defend against it or heal from it. It's not like either of these fools was ever catching up, but the agony was being so prolonged that I just bailed for now.

I wish this game had an unlock all code so I didn't have to bother with the storyline and just make decks to play online. I'd love to play this with you guys but I don't have the time. Especially since SFIV.

I wish the game was bundled. It is one of those games that way more people would like if they had it forced into their lap IMO.
Seriously, it's a game whose stupid name and in-game graphics do it no favors. The gameplay and card art are fuckawesome though. I think given the right push Culdcept DS could do great. UGH what I wouldn't do for them to bring it over here.

so i just noticed the option for Blind matches where you can play with random themed decks. that is super dope even if it's quite different from the real game since you cannot plan and have no idea what cards you have.

really wish i woulda gotten in on this game earlier, i would have definitely made a gaf league or something with the three other people on here that play this game. the amount of customization the game gives you for online play (e.g., create your own rules) is very impressive
