It also mentioned a diskless, cheaper sku. Why would MS leak a cheaper sku months and months away if they were currently struggling with sales now? (Ok, not struggling, but it still doesn't make financial sense).

You leak things strategically for hype, if as a company you're going to do this, not for giving away secrets that could harm business or decrease your potential dividends.

Plus the sheer amount of stuff he leaked was simply too much. If you want to do this kind of stuff, you usually leak a little bit at a time. Even CBOAT works more inline with a controlled leaker than ntkrnl.

You know it'd be great if Bishoptl would give us a few hints of what went down during that "bishification" process. Not sure if that's, like, forbidden or something.

While I agree with the leak of the cheaper SKU makes it seem more legitimate, I still believe that could fall in line with the idea of making it seem that the leak was in fact genuine. And I have to disagree with your second point, I feel that a controlled leak would definitely take the shotgun approach with an information dump. A one and done operation. A sustained official leaker would only make MS's security look much sloppier, as well the leaker would come under scrutiny if everything he leaked for several months/years was 100% positive.

Also the account from Mort's little snooping job is pretty damning. Not that I think it's bad that it's a controlled leak, I think it's actually a positive. I get to take everything from ntkrnl with trust that it definitely is behind the scenes info.

Seeing as the only time he's ever posted on GAF was the one day he leaked information and never came back makes it unlikely that he'll just stick around to shoot the breeze.
 
Honestly, this would have been the only way that MS would have taken my money. I would of bought this day 1. I'm a sucker for those Limited Edition consoles.

Did ntkrnl say there is more to come, surprises save for Rare? Cuz if this it,damn, Xbone line up doesn't look really good, MS has announced everything that is coming out in the next 18-20 months save for Halo HD remakes and Forza Horizon 2 and it doesn't get me excited.

Fair enough. It's just that whether he's a controlled leak or an actual dude in trouble with MS, I doubt he'd risk showing up from here on out, sadly.

I am sure I have missed stuff but that is a great post launch lineup imo.

I'm going to guess that this was initially planned for retail. However with the recent lackluster sales they instead made the Titanfall bundle with the standard console in order to help shift some of the mounting stock pile.

I think in a way we agree with each other. Whatever the case, there's reason to have hope that what he says comes about. Not guaranteed by a long shot, but certainly exciting.

He said "even the Platinum games thing is just a drop in the bucket." So expect more than just that. Not that it's a bad lineup in the least anyway. Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, etc. plus apparently some new stuff getting announced at e3 for this year. Can't remember if it was ntkrnl who said that last part or not.
 
If Halo 2, Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive and the next Forza comes out this year, it will be a great first year for the Xbox One.

Only thing I don't get is...Xbox Ones for the TF dev team?

Just seems really...suck up-ish and a lot of special treatment for them.

I can only guess this is to try and keep TF an X1 exclusive?

I just can't recall another time MS has done this for another developer who happened to be making a game for their system.

They are probably just leftovers from the first production samples before they changed their minds.
 
Definitley would have been tempted to buy this had it been released. I guess maybe all of the stock of the standard versions they had on sale made it inefficient to manufacture a bunch of special versions perhaps?
 
I don't know why they don't sell those custom sounds on the marketplace. They were the best part of those of the earlier special 360's.

Pretend you're a high-up executive at Microsoft. Your job is to promote Microsoft's gaming products: approve ad campaigns, line up global announcements, work on placement opportunities, shape the social media strategy, and otherwise do everything you can to make Microsoft more money by making their brand and products more appealing.

You go to your boss and you say "now, I know we were going to reveal all this stuff slowly over the course of three years, but what if INSTEAD we took all these titles and dropped them in a post on a single enthusiast gaming forum, without any context or ability to shape perceptions by releasing media, doing interviews, or even confirming that they're real."

What do you say to explain to your boss how this strategy will make you more money than not doing this?
 
After Sunset OverDrive announcement the leak was bang on right to every detail. Here is what nktl leaked

Sunset Overdrive is set in some weird fucking future (like 2020)

Everyone drinks this fucking drink, Overcharge XT or whatever and you either turn into one of these giganto monsters or you die.

This big corp (Microsoft, lol) takes control of the city trying to wipe this shit out, because its their drink and they fucked up.

Supposedly there is managed content that will be developed for an entire year, as it is an open/breathable world.
