There's been a reported regression in PS version where the game hangs in the display settings menu when changing the HDR setting. That kind of bug would hold off certification IMHO.

probably but it's an issue introduced in a patch post launch so doesn't really matter does it? it'll get fixed.

The fact that they improved things so fast really shows how the management fucked up the game.
Still anyone saying that it was unplayable on PS4 was and is lying, the game ran really bad but it was playable and now runs much better.

Patch arrived after stock Exchange was closed. We will see monday but some recovery is expected, especially that sales figures are to be provided before xmas and the general trend before holidays is stocks going up. Plus refunds are now understood to be until the 21st only. So we might see 10-20% increase on monday and up to 30% before xmas vs now, depending On positive sales figures vs expectations obviously. Bought a few stocks myself during the discount but plan to keep until a new witcher is announced.

There's no universal definition for unplayable. I used to play vice city at 10fps back in the day on my potato pc. Now I can't, it's different for everyone, but it shouldn't be how a product is released.

I don't get it either. Yes the framerate is still not great on PS4 when driving, but otherwise it seems perfectly acceptable, no worse than some other AAA games. Also it looks perfectly fine for what the hardware is.
The PS4 Pro seems to be running it mostly pretty stable 30fps and looks fine as well.
So that fuss was all about the crashes or what?

So with my game crashing to blue screen 4 times today this afternoon means it's playable? I spend more times staring at a blue screen than playing the damn thing.
That ontop of the sub 30fps I still hit driving around the city and other bugs.
Anyone expecting this game to run significantly better over these last two patches is fucking ignorant or retarded or both.

Please don't trust of this channel to establish in what state is the game now. His data is completely unreliable most of the times and I suspect even the FPS analysis is fake.

For some, "unplayable" doesn't just mean less than 30fps most of the time. If, due to bugs, you cannot select a dialogue option, complete a quest or you are constantly kicked out of the game - it is unplayable.

Guys, this game is pretty much wasted on base consoles. I mean they should fix whatever they can and then stop bothering with those.
Even enhanced consoles (PS4Pro and Xbox One X) are given a good run for their money. Starting from January 2021 (and henceforth) they should be focusing on how to optimise it on enhanced consoles to the highest degree, and then focus on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S what they should do with those (all the while catering for the PC community, into the bargain).
Will they make a stand-alone version for PS5 and Xbox Series X? Will they just patch it for free? If they choose to patch it for free, then is the free patch going to be given to those who have already bought the PS4 and Xbox One versions?

I have this patch installed. Game still crashes especially driving around the city at top speed. Textures still load in right infront of me.
NPC models still exhibit weird behavior.
The game is still a buggy mess. I'm only playing it because I have paid full price for it and Sony is yet to process my refund.
You can't say the game is now playable and people on PS4 saying it's not is lying.
The game is out for barely 3 weeks and you expect them to fix this to an acceptable state in this short time frame?

4 crashes today on my PS4 Pro with this update.
Even my partner commented on how badly this game is running because every time she looks up at the TV it's a blue screen.
It was way worse before this patch and patch 1.04 where I hit blue screen 10 times in one session.
This game is very far from fixed on last gen consoles.

It looks pretty good from what I can gather on 7 year old hardware. Sure I would be a bit miffed if I had a base ps4 and it had such performance, then again, I would only blame myself for not upgrading to a more powerful machine.
Yes the game was quite buggy on consoles but Ive seen worse bugs in Assassins Creed games, or Bethesda games for that matter. Fallout 4 was also a joke performance wise on PS4 when it launched.
Not to mention Fallout 76.
But gamers were up in arms, and the shitstorm was created.

Yes, the stock market doesn't react on patches, it react on how the outlook for the whole company is going forward. Everybody knows the game will be patched into a working state everywhere eventually, what we don't know is how far this spiral of negativity goes, how many bridges that will burn, before it eventually shifts into positivity. To be brutally honest I don't think things will start look better anytime soon, it took Hello Games years to turn their PR disaster around. CDPR is still in the phase where people start to find out that something is wrong with the game.
I think CDPR needs to aim for free DLC and superbly updated and polished PS5/XSX versions beside fixing the PS4/XB1 versions, and they should add some new cool features too.
This whole mess sucks because on PC it's totally worthy of the GOTY award.

Now I want to build a 3060 Ti rig to run this and other games at 1440P. Don't care for ray tracing. It's still too expensive. I'd rather have 120FPS in a game like this.

Yeah I play on a simple 1080ti PC and it looks amazing there as well, I can set it to the preset ultra option without problem and with gsync it looks perfectly smooth. No idea what fps I get, definitely not 120fps, but it looks absolutely gorgeous. It's a real bummer that the console versions are currently dragging down the whole conversation about the game, it's clear from the OT that people are truly liking the game when it works. If they could get it to stable 30fps on consoles without crashes and gamebreaking bugs things would be a lot different.

the game's noticably better on my ps4 pro, hard to pin down the improvements but i think clarity, sharpness and field of view have been.. tweaked.. framerate too, though cars are still a bit rough. Doesn't bother me.. rain drops running down car windows are now very convincing indeed, somehow

It may seem over the top but so is this situation. I doubt Hello Games would be praised now if they hadn't aimed as high as they did to win back the trust. But prio one should be to fix what's not working of course, hopefully that'll happen til february.

Short information: the PS4 was replaced by a new model just a bit over a month ago. Thats much shorter then 60 years.
Most people bought the base consoles, the mid gen upgrades had way lower sales.

He's probably just not a pro.
His videos are confusing in the ways contents are presented, he wastes so much time showing each version by itself (which is not what people are looking for in a comparison), some conlcusions are misleading (see the NPCs comparison, in this game NPCs are loaded in a dynamic and random way, you are not assured to get the same amount of NPCs in the same spot, loading the same save point). And he should do something for the obsessive background music.
So yeah he was a long way to go until he becomes a reliable source for these comparisons imo.
I can speak about the PS5 version I'm playing, I've not seen particular differences going from 1.04 to 1.05. It's basically the same, probably it's mostly a bug fixes patch.

He is right only when other more reliable channels spreaded already the relative tech data, probably after looking at them.
I can't forget in WD Legion his claim about the higher AF on series X compared the ps5 and it was the exact contrary. I'm not a Pro too but Jeez he can check properly before to say something like this. AF it's not that tough to spot on .

I had a few hard crashes on PS5 when this game first came out. Since that patch I haven't had a single crash. Game is perfect for me.

Yes yes and yes all this has been known for a while. The PS4 version will have a free update to the PS5 version. They will make a stand-alone current gen PS5 version that is also a free update to all last gen copies. No need to rebuy for the update.

i think NPC on streets are very random , on pc with max crowd sometimes some streets can be empty depends from many situations and time of day if game goes into combat mode and you between crowds its kinda become empty really fast too and then you play on empty streets, then combat mode stops and streets again crowded. i notice that myself.
