Cyberpunk 2077 Will Have Red Dead Redemption 2 - Level Visuals, Could Be Huge Seller.

I think it's a short-sighted approach. As it is a perfect PS5/XSX version won't do much for them, their reputation is still ruined and people will keep talking about the broken launch version for years. Only way forward now is to do like Hello Games with No Man's Sky and just keep pumping out free big updates and surpass what they first promised, with enough positive word of mouth people might eventually return to see what the fuss is about.
It's not a GAAS game so the potential is severely limited. IMO they need to start talking about Witcher 4 asap.

Best decision I ever made by not pre ordering this game. I hardly do and was confident over this game but waited on principle.
I will happily wait till 2022 end or at first sign of cdpr trying a NMS.

You must have a pretty shitty life if saving 60 bucks on something is your best decision ever :D

CDPro made a fuck ton of money on this game because of pre-order hype. So why continue to pour money into it when it's been revealed to be painfully mediocre?

No Man's Sky isn't a GAAS game either, you buy it once and there are no MTX or anything and all updates has been free, it's really just a game the developer never stopped working on.

CDPR is still being remembered for the broken last gen console versions. They can't start hyping up the release of another game without people being skeptical unless they do it right with Cyberpunk first.
How many do you think would preorder The Witcher 4? Even as a PC Gamer who never thought Cyberpunk was bad I would still never preorder their next game if they just leave it now.

Cyberpunk GTA is impossible with current technology.

At best, cyberpunk setting only works as linear game, and when a lot of things are left to player's imagination.

Is the whole point of this necro bump to point and laugh or something? What is this?
I think? I just went abd read the new responses and that's about the gist of it. Still haven't tried this out yet.

So many critics just totally sold out for this game <cough> alahan pierce

That's great but terrible business-wise: how is the developer making money? The game is heavily discounted for years now so they are getting pennies from new copies.

I've only just seen this thread but boy has it aged like milk. This game will only ever be remembered as one of the biggest gaming disasters of the decade and is a stark reminder to not preorder.

It is great and they're likely doing this to fix their reputation. Hello Games went from zero to hero and now anything they release going forward, people will more likely buy into knowing that the developers will support their product.

In fact, I'd say this makes perfect business sense.

The initial projection on that road map they had was next gen patch was Q3 2021. Then someone said they revised during the summer to Q4 2021. Ok, here we are Q4. They have all 3 months.

Personally, I dont think they will do it at all.
I agree at this point. I think they are gonna abandon ship and focus on trying to ship a new, lower cost game soon, like a witcher 1 remake, in order to recoup some costs. For me though, if they abandon this game, im never buying another game from them again.

That makes perfect sense when you have 25 employees and can easily afford to keep everyone working off the sales of a game like that, it makes infinitely less sense when you have 500+ employees.

Does everyone think that getting a Cyberpunk chair automatically means you sold out and are gonna pretend you love the game?

i think this thread should be locked out of sheer contempt for how low hanging these particular fruits are

i would get the oneplus cyberpunk phone but i had a oneplus recently and didn't like it much so i'm not so sure

no struggle on current gen, cd-red already told it will be fine, doing lots of optimizations,... my estimate late 2020,

Best game of the Generation

Someone dug through their financials at one point, they made a ton of money at launch. But I really just think Hello Games has found a system that works for them. Every update brings in new people, the trailers work like ads. And old fans keeps on playing what is soon worthy an entry at many best game of all time lists and through that the word of mouth has gone from calling them trash devs to saying they've had one of the best post launch support ever.

CDPR need to rebuild their reputation in similar ways, I've played Cyberpunk a ton and I think it's a great game on PC now but console gamers are still kinda left out in the cold. I think that needs to be fixed before they move away to TW4 or nobody will preorder and critics will stand ready with the chain saw.

Isn't that what they did? A couple of them got put into the game. After that people like Alanah Pearce and CDPR's personal bum licker Parris had a License to Shill.

i don't know where people are coming from dissing its visuals on 2014 hardware :p yes on pc the game is exceptionally good looking, as DF recognized in their 'best grapics of the year awards' video for that year, if memory serves

Exactly. One thing people cannot deny is the sheer detail and visual splendour of the game. There was a lot of love & care put into this world and their art team has always been world class. Only pathetic CDPR haters could say otherwise.

Very small studio so costs aren't as high. Plus each update brings a bump in sales even if it's at discounted prices.

I was not understanding this thread until I noticed it was from 2018! What a waste of time. Necrobumps like this should be banned.

Looks amazing on PC!
I really just hope they don't drop the post launch updates, they've fixed a lot but there are still stuff to do. I noticed some fans in the city today that stopped spinning and got C64-pixelated way too close up even on Ultra RT settings. There are super blurry graffiti textures as well which I don't get how the devs could've missed.

This necro-bump is idiotic, especially when not even bothering to explain the point, just a retarded gif. Anyway, CP2077 looks pretty damn fantastic on PC. So, again KyoZz; What's going on? Drunk?

Do you know how hard it is to port the PC version to consoles? It's really really really hard! Give them a break, GAW!

We'll be getting a shitty console port, won't we? *lets boost the res a bit and call it a day*

See how hyped people have already gotten for Dragon Age 4 and Mass Effect 4, even after Bioware clearly abandoned Andromeda and Anthem. Some people have shockingly short memories, and companies know this.

I disagree. The game lives on a online server and the updates being free doesn't actually change what that term means btw. You can have a free "service" lol Thats like saying an MMO that is free, isn't really a MMO and be like "updates has been free doe"

I disagree. With how much issues with design CP2077 has, I don't even see how much of this "do it right" is even feasible with CP2077 at this point ,the fucking game launched without basic AI. People can't drive motocycles, behave like blind and deaf zombies, cops have no programming to drive a car, or swat vehicle etc. From what I see, more fucking programming went into GTA3's NPCs, then in CP2077 as it sounds like its budget and focus was to make it LOOK like a game vs fucking play like one, its like their whole goal was to sell a tech demo or an early access game and be like "give us more time".

The fact that right now we still don't have a fucking next gen update, tells me its the same reason it came out in 2020 with barely any AI with so many missing features, the menu, hud and pop ups are telling you about features that don't even fucking exist.

I don't see them magically making this game what it was suppose to be if they are as of right now in 2021 Oct struggling with the most basic shit. I think maybe they just need to give some free DLC (as I see no reason to even charge people that shit with how much was fucking missing, stripped, removed etc from this game....if those features ever even existed at all) and give the next gen update and move on.

I don't see any saving on this one and I stand by the comment I made last year that I believe Ubisoft would have made a better game considering they fucking put out a open world title with AI, NPCs that can fucking drive cars and come after you etc They are struggling to meet GTA3, Watchdogs 1 standards here.... the things missing are the shit commonly found in those titles.

Ironically, it was RDR2 that even had the features CP2077 was missing. An MP, swapping from first to 3rd person on the fly, the law chases you on a mount (REVOLUTNARY IDEA folks), the AI has daily routines that you literally can follow, has workable trains.

Next time please use the '@' command as I almost missed your comment.

Anyway if you need an explanation, the key part in my quote is "level of polish".
As I was looking at a French forum to see if the game had evolved since I completed it, I stumbled into this old news. I laughed. A lot. I searched here to see if it was discussed and yes it was.
Then I decided to post a simple gif pointing out CDPR trying to "reach the level of polish" (that what's highlighted in my quote, very important detail as I'm not talking about graphics since CP2077 is looking damn good but maybe putting it that big in the quote wasn't enough...) of RDRII, with the result we all know.
So, again, it's not about graphics but "level of polish".

That's all, nothing more, nothing less. Have a good day.

I still say that this game was the best thing to ever happen to RDR2. Before this it was getting GTA IV level backlash with people calling it boring and saying it put realism before fun. Now it sets the standard that Cyberpunk failed to live up to.

CP 2077 is a better looking game than RDR2 when running at full settings at 4K/60fps with Ray Tracing on a powerful rig.
Yep. I'd say that's the only area where CP 2077 is ahead. Everything else is in favor of RDR2.
Both are good games in their own right. Yes CP has its issues but it's still an enjoyable experience for me.

Haven't played it yet. Worth trying?
God no, iv got a high end PC (RTX 3080, 5900x etc) and while the visuals are fantastic, the bugs (still plenty even after the patchs) and the actual game itself just turn me away from it, iv tried playing about 3 times, once at launch and two after major patches and have just stopped playing and uninstalled past a point. The game is just boring and the only way to have fun is to goof off, but the issue is the game dousent respond to you prodding it, not enough reaction and it's so woefully artificial. Really the open world and sandbox is pointless it should have just been a CoD game with corridors if the world is so lifeless and artificial.

I disagree. As I see it it doesn't need to be RDR2, I've played Cyberpunk at least 4 times more than RDR2 (which I also loved, it was my GOTY 2018) and I'm still playing it while I dropped RDR2 once I had finished the story. The game is great. RDR2 has the most alive gaming world in the business though so expecting them to reach that is expecting too much but I don't see why it would be impossible to improve AI at this point. It's true that there is lots of window dressing but things has slowly been improving and as long as they don't just drop it there is still hope. Look at what has happened to No Man's Sky since launch.

I don't think they'll ever "repair" the version on last gen consoles though, that's the biggest problem, I don't see them ever being able to push it far enough there and that'll forever hurt them. They just shouldn't have releases it there. With no last versions, an undercooked PC version they're still improving and still unreleased PS5/XSX versions the talk about it would be very very different. They released a late console port for The Witcher 2 and that's what I think they should've done here too.

It's absolutely worth trying, but with a few caveats: (1) you should probably play the PC version as console versions are still under baked; (2) this is not GTA cyberpunk or a cyberpunk life simulator. If you are looking for detailed NPC routines, traffic or any such features that come under "living breathing world" you probably will be disappointed. This is not a game that encourages rampages or shoot outs against police.

Try it if you like a game with great build variety, fast and brutal combat (combat AI is actually good. Stealth AI can be dumb like most games). Weapons are great and punchy. Story is interesting with some great characters. It's really a edgier toned Deus Ex HR/MD in a much larger world with much better combat and better characters.
