Cyberpunk: Edgerunners - Netflix anime series - AVAILABLE NOW

It's very cool to watch. The story is nice enough, characters are likeable and I think they nailed the cyberpunk 2077 vibe with all those bright colors, neons and stuff.

Ended up watching 6 episodes in a row, will probably finish it tonight.

Only downside so far for me is the OST, some good songs yeah but they are repeated way too often.

lol I'll give it a shot, but I must admit I agree with the colors.

I wanted a more dark Anime like 90's Ghost In The Shell, but those days are done and maybe they wanted a light hearted thing or something. I'll check it out and for all I know i like the show more then the game lol

Big surprise, I didn't watch any trailer for it and binged all 10 episodes with a friend. Very good show even if there are some lengths in the second part of the season.

Yeeeeah well it is ABSOLUTELY NOT light hearted ^^.

Yeah I feel you, that's why I didn't bother to watch any trailer as I though the same.
But my friend was like "nooo mate we need to see this" So we started it and just watched the full season in one sitting before the State of Play :messenger_beaming:

The Cyberpunk universe is very interesting, that's what saved the game for me and that's the strong point of this series. Even if it's not looking amazing.

True, I'll check it out then. I've given worse sci fi shows a chance lol

I was like, Cyberpunk, meh, but I didn't realize this was a Trigger gig. Watched the first two eps and this is much cooler than the game ever was.

It's obviously made for a western audience. The characters are American and it takes place in the US. I don't hold JPN VA quality over Eng anymore.

Eg. There is no real appropriate Japanese translation for 'fuck that noise'. So listening to it in JP audio is actually not the full experience :)

Japanese of course.

No need to act like an uneducated American: except for a very very few exceptions, audiovisual works of fiction should always, always, be experienced in their original language.

What an absolute blast! Best animated series of the year. Trigger captured Night City extremely well.

Next up, Arcane season 2.

Binged the entire series over 1 day. Holy shit what a show and experience. Not sure if they are going to make a season 2 (nor does it warrent it), but I hope we see more of Lucy in the future either in other forms of media/games/movies/books etc. All the characters in the show I absolutely love and show more personality than most.

This show is what Cyberpunk 2077 was suppose to be.

Eng for sure. The characters aren't Japanese.

Japanese of course.

Definitely Japanese, still the primary language of the creators.

If you've played the game, definitely English. Some of the characters from the game are in the show.
You could say the opinion on this matter seems split lol

Uh, I dunno bros.

For me it got boring at times, there's some dumb writting moments and the animation is cheap with lots (LOTS) of still shots and lack of animation. Some refurbished sequences here and there didn't help either.

Also didn't like the music, too repetitive and personally not of my tastes.

Liked some characters and enjoyed the bitter ending. It's refreshing having a love story that ends so bad as this one does in this day and age.

Watched it in japanese with subtitles in spanish. Whoever wrote those did a very bad job btw, could notice they didn't match what the characters where saying a few times.

Overall I'd say it's a 6/10.

Also, how many cars explode on the last episode? That got kinda ridiculous with them spinning a hundred times before exploding and flying through the air.

So does this have spoiler from the game or is it safe to watch if I haven't played it yet ? (But plan to do so in the future)

so biggest question: when you finished it did you want to go play Cyberpunk?
Worked on me. I recognized the places in the show and felt like revisiting them in-game. But that probably only works if you already played the game before hand.

I imagine there are some new people out there that might like to feel the power trip from using a Sandevistan themselves. Steam player count is indicating that this 2 year old single player game currently has more players than current year darling Elden Ring. Hell, it's currently the most played single player game on Steam.

So does this have spoiler from the game or is it safe to watch if I haven't played it yet ? (But plan to do so in the future)
It happens before the game. If anything, the game spoils the show.

So funny to see the show praised for its soundtrack whereas 80% of it was already present in the game.
Well, most of them were just radio songs before. Now they have scenes associated to them.

I tend to prefer late 80s/early 90s anime compared to the current stuff, but this looks amazingly good on my C2 OLED.

there was an increase on concurrent player count on steam from 15 to 20k-ish daily players to +35k, so i guess many people did.

Seems its the game that contains spoilers for the anime (after the 1.6 update)

would have preferred a more mature take on the IP. It's a weird emo / gore juxtaposition that's a bit too superficial/immature at times. Only up to episode 3, but not expecting it to push much outside these bounds. I hoping to be surprised.

I am watching this show right now and i just finished episode 5.
It's a good one, if you like Anime and you like fast paced shows that are made in Trigger style (Kill La Kill, or Imaishi style like TT Gurren Lagann) then give it a watch, you will most likely enjoy it.
The animation is decent nothing top tier but the art style is cool, the music is pretty good too and there's a lot of action you will never get bored.
It just a bit rushed, the pacing is too fast, it could use 18 episodes instead of 10 and flesh out its world and characters better and pace the story events in more coherent matter, but aside from that so far its a very entertaining fast paced cyberpunk action show.
Watch in Japanese voices with English sub because thats way better imo.

I'm surprised its not a bad show honestly, i expected it to be mediocre but no, its really good. Not on the same level of Arcane though.

Trigger is actually based for this.
Smart move. Any criticism of capitalism that censors what the impoverished underage have to go through is irrelevant. Rebecca rubbing the balls of some low-life to save David after his first mission takes a wrong turn is one of the high art moments of the series.
