D23: Wreck It Ralph 2 basically an amalgamation of everything Disney owns

So it looks like Elastigirl will be the main character this time while Bob takes care of Jack Jack.

Huck Milner is the new voice for Dash.

So much for seeing Mario in this one huh?

I still have

So who cares about videogame characters? Kinda lame they are going all in on properties that aren't known for games.

Damn, that Princess scene sounds AMAZING. Sounds a lot like Amy Mebberson's Pocket Princesses. I wonder how she feels about it?

While I am sad they're seemingly moving away from video games, it makes sense to me considering the first one, despite being advertised as VIDEO CAMEOS: THE MOVIE, it really wasn't connected to video games in the same way The Lego Movie was to Lego out Who Framed Roger Rabbit was to cartoons. I'm all for the characters doing new things.

I still find Wreck it Ralph just ditching the idea of being "about" video games disappointing. I'm sure it'll be great but I don't know.

yeah i'm not interested in the sequel if they're not keeping with the videogame theme.

bummer.

they ditched it halfway through the first film when it was suddenly about junk food

I see they're going in a different direction this time. Could be a rushed forced mess, I'm not a fan of dropping the video game aspect entirely anyway, but this could be something enjoyable.

Wouldn't surprise me if they didn't want to approach Nintendo for fear of rejection. MARIO!!!

new details sound so much fun. really love how meta the scene where they legit go on Disney's official blog is. wish I could've seen that footage

As a huge fan of the first film...

...this is going to suck isn't it?

Maybe, but it doesn't take away from the first film.

Kind of hilarious that The Emoji Movie is basically a complete ripoff of the Wreck-It Ralph setup though. Just in time for the sequel.

Real talk, Wreck it Ralph was barely about video games besides all the cameos. I feel like this movie might end up the same way with it's internet theme.

COME ON KINGDOM HEARTS

I feel the better joke would be a WiR level in Kingdom Hearts, like Sora enters the WiR level and Ralph is like "hey! you're Sora, from Kingdom Hearts, aren't you?" and Sora is all confused because he doesn't understand he's in a videogame.

I got the impression of it being about a guy aiming for a career change by the time it seems to late in time to do so, and feeling terribly out of his depth while at it - with videogames, which don't exactly work the way they're depicted anyway.

The princesses scene sounds fun, but wasn't there some policy about the whole Disney Princesses meta-franchise about never having them interact or even look in each other's direction in promotional material? But hey, I like crossovers, so I'll take my baby steps where I can get them.

Disney would have to invest their gross earnings from the last 5 years into engineering something just 25% as bad and nonsense as Kingdom Heart's story currently is.

I saw a video awhile back someone had posted of Goofy being "Killed" in a Kingdom Hearts cut-scene (he's not really killed, I guess) and Mickey and Donald grieving over his prone body, with Mickey swearing vengeance or some shit as some spiky haired kid kinda blandly blanded some blandness off in a corner and I was very, very confused as to how any of this was supposed to be working.

Granted, I was watching it out of context, and like a decade too late, so it's more than a little unfair...

...but I think if there was a time where something like that was going to work on me, that time is not now.

It's disappointing that they already veered the franchise away from games after one film (though it already felt like the writers were running out of game puns half way through the first), but I do like the idea that they are getting more meta and exploring the internet with this one, since that gives them a lot more potential.

I mean, this franchise is basically Disney's Toy Story but reworked a bit, so it's not surprising they'd open the door for more real world stuff to parody, and honestly, it seemed like the first film was able to find more candy/sweets puns than video game related jokes. The internet thing seems like the type of thing that would work better for a 3rd film in a trilogy though.

Does this have nothing to do with games?
