DAMNED USPS HAS LOST 4 OF MY PACKAGES!

Strange how some people have loads of problems and others don't.

I've had packages delivered to me from all 3 companies hundreds of times over the last few years, and maybe once or twice has a package been misrouted. Not one damaged, either.

I'm a pessimist myself, but to suggest that 3 different people are doing the same scam at the same time kinda pushes the boundaries of believability

Some times uncommon shit happens. But i can see where you're coming from. It's just when I sell w/out tracking my automatic assumption is i'm getting screwed. I'm just left too vulnerable.

PROTIP: When using USPS, get Delivery Confirmation!

PROTIP: When shipping overseas, use USPS Express Mail ONLY (it can be tracked) or UPS/FedEx international. A CUSTOMS DECLARATION IS NOT A TRACKING NUMBER

PROTIP: USE A SERVICE WHICH CAN BE TRACKED

My bro sent me a new CPU last week and it vanished. He also neglected to get tracking. No one knows where it is. Lovely. Thanks USPS!

It's not aways economical to pay for express mail, or even priority mail for all packages going over seas. Do you really think I buyer is going to want to pay $25 shipping on a $50 game. With that said, typically you do get trackign with Priority Mail, but the flat rate envelops are different I discovered. Last time I fuck with them, I'm better off just seind it via first class mail.

Shame these guys are not so big in the states.

I sent back a game last week to a certain online rental place, and ffs, they still haven't received it. I'm getting all stressed out over that stuff, how the hell can I prove I sent it back? And whats hilarious is that it's BRUTAL LEGEND. I trashed that game on the forum, and I hated it. I sent it back and the gods of metal decide to taunt me by making the game vanish.

Ugh.

If it's GameFly, they hate the USPS and their stuff gets stolen all the time, so it won't take much convincing them that your game was stolen. Just report that they haven't notified you of a received game on their website. They'll send you the next game on your queue.

Of course, if you start having a lot of problems, they'll have to cut you off until you deal with the problem from your end.

well it's GameAccess, i've been with them for about a year now on the 4 games a month plan, it has never happened before. It really pisses me off too.

I'll wait until Friday and if it hasn't showed up as received, i'll give them a call.

So another empty package has shown up at another customers house (stamped as empty/damaged BY the USPS.)

All of these that are "missing" (fucking STOLEN) are sent from the same post office. So needless to say, I'm going to that PO on Monday and raising holy hell.

I'll keep climbing the ladder until someone decides to either reimburse me for the items or they "find" them.

So after all the advice in this thread you sent another uninsured package? Someone at the USPS obviously knows your M.O., you need to get someone fired.

Did you send another package or was it already en route?

No, this is one that was already en route (and has been since the 10th!) it just NOW showed up at this guys door step. When it showed up, it was empty

I have replacements ready, but havent shipped. I'm going to ship with a different carrier this time.

I feel your pain. The last time I used UPS I waited around all day for the package because it was important and time sensitive. Turns out they didn't bother to listen to the instructions I had called and left with not just the office but the driver as well. So instead of going to my door, they went to the wrong entrance and when nobody answered (the buzzer is broken) the driver just left. Didn't even leave one of those notes. So i call them and they say the guy will be back tomorrow. I wait around again (so much for my days off) and of course, the driver did the same fucking thing. Went to the wrong door where the apartment buzzer does not work despite me having now told them 3 times to go to the backdoor instead.
So I call UPS and tell them to hold the package at the store and i'll go pick it up. So I go to the UPS store...and they had sent it out anyways. I rush home, the guy had already been by and left. I go back to the store and tell them I will pick it up tomorrow after I get out of work and to hold the damn package.
I get to the store after work expecting to pick up the package and they tell me it's at their other location 45 minutes away. It's rush hour, my car is hidden away in some parking spot avoiding the ticket whores, and I just worked a 11 hour shift. I don't want to go wandering around some area of Seattle i've never been to before looking for a UPS facility.
I ended up having them deliver it to my work. Which was awkward because I got let go the day before it arrived so my ex boss though I sent them a bomb.

Good luck with that. I talked to USPS 'top of the ladder' from three different states and all they had to say was, 'If it wasn't insured we can't help you'. As I said before, a tracking number isn't a guarantee of any kind to these people.

i never use USPS. Their tracking is a joke, they are just too damned big.. THAT, AND they use FedEx planes anyways for express delivery (they used to use commercial airline flights until 9/11, when they had to contract w/ FedEx)... I had to ship a PS3 a few months ago, damn thing came to 25 dollars shipping w/ FedEx, but, i wasn't complaining b/c i knew it would at least get there.

FedEx all the way. It's more expensive, but.....

I've never had problems with USPS and I've sent and received plenty of packages.

Then again I've never had problems with any package carrier whether it be UPS or FEDEX.

Either I'm lucky or the California workers are more competent.

Dunno, this is actually my first real issue with them. Normally things go through without a problem. It's just shit that went to this one post office that has now cost me over $100 in items.

Every carrier hires part-time help during the holidays, and it's usually nobody trustworthy.

i am getting fucking sick of USPS myself. probably 4 out of 5 packages that I get from like goozex or buying something on ebay or something, I get a notice that there is postage due for anywhere from ten to 50 cents. Then I get "signature needed" notices left all the time when I have been home all day. Then to top it off I got a game from goozex today. Well I got the package anyway. I (re)open the padded envelope (it had already been opened and resealed with a little sticker from the USPS resealing it) but all that's in there is the box and manual to the game (a GBA game) - the cartridge is not there. I look at the tracking information on the USPS website, it says that it was out for delivery at 10:00 am yesterday but didn't arrive until the mail came after 2:00 pm today. so i got that "game" plus another "signature required" notice today even though I was home when the mail got here.

I intentionally avoid selling on ebay during the Nov-early Jan shipping rush. Between people squeezed for cash because they are buying stuff as gifts left and right (and thus more likely to scam, which is trivially easy to do with Paypal's bullshit) and inconsistent shipping and handling during this time of year, it's just too much risk to deal with.

Just last week I ordered some Xbox 360, and Nintendo points from Amazon shipped by USPS. The box arrived somewhat damaged, I opened it up and it was EMPTY. Reading this thread it seems empty packages are not entirely uncommon. WTH do people just open random boxes and steal stuff?

Amazon sent a replacement by UPS, that arrived fine.
