You people are crazy. You probably have a literal ton of crap games in your collections that you could find a way to sell. I just can't come up with any good reason why somebody would need a game collection that big.
PC
Genesis
Snes (+ imports)
Saturn (+ imports)
Playstation (+ imports)
Nintendo 64 (+ imports)
Dreamcast (+ imports)
Playstation 2 (+ imports)
Xbox
Gamecube
GBA (+ imports)
DS (+ imports)
PSP (+ imports)

... means there's easily 2000 quality games to enjoy.

When I bought RE:0 at EB, they gave me another copy of REmake instead.

I recently bought the Lost Planet Collector's Edition at EBGames. I brought the display case to the counter because I couldn't see any new copies behind the glass and the guy asked me if I wanted it new. I obviously said yes. I get home and notice the plastic sleeve that is common in CE games was bent in the top right corner. I remove the wrap and there is that annoying sticker residue on it. I'm thinking how can there be sticker residue if it was sealed. I open the case and it has the Xbox Live 48 hour card and the exclusive map DLC BUT NO ART BOOK. I was so angry. Of all the damn things to be missing it had to be the art book. The Xbox Live card was even expired.

The best story was when some GAFFER bought MGS3:SE from Toys R Us, I think the disc had a MGS3:SE cover art but for some reason the actual game content was NFL2K or something. I'm still curious how that happened.

Thats like the gamer version of getting Trannysurprise'd.

i think one of my friends bought a game once and it didn't have a disk inside.

Haha, I have a buddy who picked up FFVII day 1. He got home, and realized one of the discs was missing. What a bummer.

i can't recall how seals are applied to game cases, and i do not remember how seals are currently applied to cds/dvds either. opening is just one of those things i do without thinking about it i guess.

but several years ago i was shown how to pop the disc out the side without damaging the seal. to do it you just need one unsealed side. i think some cases now seal around 3 sides to prevent it, but like i said, i can't remember
Older Xbox games have the security sticker only on the opposing side of the spine; this makes trying to take the disc out without damaging the seal kinda hard if not almost impossible (at least without removing the sticker itself first). Though more recent 360 games are sealed on all sides.

PS2 games only had one security sticker (with the game's name, number of discs, and its UPC) on top of the case for older games but not so anymore. This makes taking discs out relatively easy, and with the game on the lower end of the DVD case compared to other DVD cases, it makes removing games without even touching the sticker almost idiot proof.

Irregardless, taking off a security sticker isn't too hard anyway as long as you are careful doing it.

And this thread reminds me of Metal Gear Solid 1's original release back in '97 where there were massive complaints about copies of the game containing either 2 Disc 1's or 2 Disc 2's.

I took an extended lunch break today in order to schlep all three games back to TRU to complain/exchange. Of course, once I got there, I recalled that I left the CC I used to buy the games with at home. Ah well, I wasn't going to give up then.

So I get there, and walk up to the relatively empty register. I briefly inform the nearest clerk about my purchases last week, and when I get to the punchline, I merely take out DDR Universe, crack open the case, and wordlessly show him the contents.

He grabs me by the arm, tells me to follow him, and proceeds to lead me (scrambling to grab the rest of my shit) over to the customer service area. We skip the loooooooong line of people there waiting to process returns, and I begin to wonder if he's trying to detain me before the police arrive, or just trying to give me the royal treatment due to their error.

Turns out, it was the latter, thankfully. They didn't even need my CC. They pretty much asked no questions and brought out another copy of the game for me, which they then proceeded to open before my eyes in order to confirm the goods. Emboldened, I asked about this phenomenon, and outright confronted them about the idea of resealing returns and selling them as new.

The manager, I later learned, assured me that this wasn't the case, and told me that it was an issue at manufacturing. He did comment on the oddity that it only ever happens with Xbox games. He says he's never had a similar return of Sony or Nintendo console games, only Xbox brand games. He also said that it's common enough that he gets about 1 a month. I'm #2 for this month. Apparently someone bought the 360 version of Orange Box and wound up with an adult film! Heh, at least that game is rated M, amirite?

Anyway. A couple of apologies, cut right to the head of the line at customer service, and an exchange later, I'm a happy camper. So from there, I wander over to the Nintendo World Store for some Mario/Chibi-Robo lovin'!

Edit - woops.

thats horrible, i usually leave my games shrinkwrapped for months. Guess that means i gotta open them up now? Geez, what if we keep our games wrapped for collector's sake and sell em in a few years?

Turns out, it was the former, thankfully (??).

Actually, someone on this forum got busted for doing the Walmart scam a few years ago. Walmart called the cops and everything, I think. I think they just took his pic and banned him from the store or whatever.

Funny thing is someone actually got caught doing the return scam.
