Dangerous Golf is out on Steam

Crash mode was the best part of Burnout 2 & 3 for me, so I would insta buy this...
The decisions with 30FPS and controller only seem strange though. Might wait a bit.

30fps shouldn't put you off. It's just a default option that can be changed in-game and no ini tweaking, just a default graphic option.

Oh okay, sounded different in this thread. I'll buy it as soon, as I have an option for a next local MP night. Crash mode was amazing for this!

Wish it was an actual golf game in the sense that you hit the ball and it flies wherever. AFAIK, you just sort of... Launch the ball in a general direction, then control the ball's flight path?

Still, it looks pretty neat, so I think I'll end up giving it a try sooner or later.

Really liked the idea of this but the mechanic of just 'firing' the ball and having control of it as it goes makes it so much less interesting.

I looks fun, but it's basically a more polished version of Pain or Burnout's Crash Mode. I don't fancy paying £13 for that as a full game, as I know from experience that I find that kind of thing gets dull quite quickly. I'll maybe buy it down the line when it's 60% off.

I thought it was going to be a golf game in a house not just smashing furniture up with a ball.
Not really interested now :(

I've been playing the game and absolutely love it so far. It's more than just a tech demo, I feel.

I made a video on the visuals and physics but am also doing a write-up (where I'll bring up the mouse/keyboard stuff). That's the strangest omission.

No keyboard/mouse support seems really strange

Also why 30 fps weren't the burnout games all 60 ?
30fps cap can be adjusted in options menu. It's really no big deal.

You start by hitting the ball not unlike a golf game. If the ball does enough damage, you can basically explode the ball back into the air and control it Bunrout style. Once that bar drains then you have to put it into the hole.

thats kinda ridiculous for a golf game ... it should be easily done just with mouse like most of the normal golf games

How hard it can be to do the usual golf muse control in effing UE4???

While they should defnitely have keyboard and mouse support, this game actually plays nothing like a regular golf game.

Watching the Steam video preview with the ridiculous museum and manor settings made me laugh, I'm gonna buy this game for the weekend.

(The "PC Master Race" still refuses to touch game controllers.........really?)

Well I don't think anyone is saying that, I often play games with a controller, some genres just feel better on them to me.

That doesn't mean everyone has a controller though since it isn't the de facto PC input method. You should still put some kind of k/m support, even if it isn't great.

Thinking about it, I'm pretty sure Golf Club had pretty decent Keyboard and Mouse controls.

I would love to play this on an arcade machine with the full club setup etc. and super huge screen running at 120 hz!

This is what Arcades have been missing, high end experiences which you cant easily get at home.

You have some crazy scores that I haven't been able to get close to yet! I'm going to try and get more gold medals tonight.

Has anyone tried out the online mode yet?

That's kind of a ridiculous IMO. A single good control scheme is better than wasting time also including a not-great option that doesn't control as well. Either way, it's lose-lose since people will complain

Not sure where to post, but we reviewed the PS4 version. 7/10 from us:

It's a real shame that the performance here is subpar, because Dangerous Golf is fantastic fun, whether alone or with friends in the co-op and competitive modes. It has surprising depth and plenty of content; the solo and co-op tours combined provide a total of 197 levels to smash through. The satisfying gameplay is its greatest strength, however, with the short stages making it an ideal game to play when you've got a spare half-hour. Some may struggle with the controls, and its appeal may not last for too long – but it's definitely no bogey.

I just want to say that I have no problem with a developer restricting input types so long as it makes sense for the game design. Not everything on PC has to support mouse and keyboard.

I was interested but only four environments is really dissapointing. Is there more than that for those who have bought it?

I haven't unlocked everything yet. But seems there are only 4.

But there are 100 levels. There are actually different areas of each level also. Like the dining room is just 1 room in that house. You play in other rooms of that house.

You should feel bad for that headline.

C'mon! That's a damn good headline and you know it!

Oh man, I was really hoping this would be a great game.

If you're the type of person that could play 4 hours of straight crash mode in Burnout 2, then come back the next day to try and best those scores, it is utterly fantastic. The reviews are fair still because I understand not many people are like me in that respect. But for those that are, its worth every penny.

So torn. Might wait for a sale.....but I might not.

Man, I'm out of touch or something. I absolutely love the game. But I also loved the Burnout crash modes. While it plays nothing like it, DG satisfies the hole for score based games which Tony Hawk has left.

Great looking game, but not my type of game. When I played the Burnout games I enjoyed the actual frantic racing the most. I'm hoping it does well so the dev can do something else in the future.

Don't worry, you're not alone. I have miss those score attack games so hard too.

I loved those, too, so I'll probably pick this up. It seems right up my alley.

i always get this game confused with that other golf game where you are giant robots

See, the key to remembering the difference is the other one has the words '100ft', implying giant, and 'Robot', implying robot.

Honestly can't wait for 100ft Robot Golf either.

Maaaaan. $17 is more than I was hoping for for this type of game. But I looooved me some Crash mode, and I'm a big fan of Criterion (or ex criterion). I'll have to see more gameplay of it but this might wait for a steeper sale.

Was hoping it would be up on the us psn store but no luck... guess I'll play it after work.

It would be infuriating to be someone who makes games. You've just spent at least over a year working your butt off on something, it's finally jumped through all the bureaucratic hoops necessary to get it approved, and you're eager to finally have people get their hands on it and even start getting some money back..

.. Then you need to sit around and wait while the Playstation Store people wake up, have their coffee, maybe check their emails a bit, and then finally, randomly, get around to uploading the thing that's been the focus of your life for the last sizable chunk of time.

This game is fun as hell. Only problems are the load times imo. If they managed to reduce those it would make it much more enjoyable.
