I don't really follow Amiibo releases but saw all those in stores here on my trip to Japan and picked up a Zero Suit Samus for about $11 U.S. One store had pretty much every Amiibo readily available from what I saw. Is it just North America that's having issues with stock availability?

There were plenty, but every store was still out of them like an hour after opening.

Nintendo could send a 100 of each amiibo to a store and they would still be sold out before the day was over more and more people are getting on the amiibo train everyday. Hell my toys r us had 80 greninja at launch and they sold out within 4hrs. It sucks that people cant get the figures they want but with demand and interest growing everyday nintendo is stuck int he same situation activision was with skylanders series 1 no matter how much stock they send out its gonna sell out fast.

Nintendo had a great thing going with Amiibo but they are clearly over playing their hand and turning off a lot of their core consumers. I will have to try a trade for one since I have no Best Buy near me. Currently have all US Amiibos, but seriously considering bowing out. Trying to convince my daughter we should sell them.

It looks like it for this particular wave. It's very well-stocked here in Europe, I can still drop in a random store a grab a bunch of them.

This is basically your average amiibo section in the US. Usually Toad isn't even in stock. It's been this way since Wave 2.

The hype for these things in america is insane i see more and more people each wave trying to get figures. Here is an example when Rosalina and part of wave 3 launched at target there was about 4 of us there when they opened when jigglypuff and wave 4 hit there was about 30 people at target that morning its getting insane the demand for these things.

That BB has some amazing stock! All the BB's local to me have probably a third of the total space filled. Still just SMB trash though.

Why convince her? Can't you both just have fun with what you have if you're tired of collecting them?

I collected all of waves until the one with Ness was released. I got sick of the bullshit at that point. It was alot of fun at first to go amiibo chasing, but after there were even more exclusives and they sold out in seconds.. I was just done.

Im contemplating selling my lot soon. But im waiting out the inevitable Amiibo game that Nintendo is surly to release that actually utilizes these...

But considering how long it takes Nintendo to do things... I may die before that ever becomes a reality.

But Smash, the game they are for, has been out since November.

There's gonna be like 5 of these things in America. There'll still be more of them than there are retail Wii U releases this summer, though.
Fucking NOA.

I cannot believe how badly NoA's been bungling these things.

I'm admittedly new to the amiibo game, but from a UK perspective the figures seem to be plentifully stocked, with widespread availability and restocks of rare figures, I understand that NA is a larger market, but these exclusive strategies are surely choking an already-overstretched product line, surely?

NOA sells over 3x more Amiibo than NOE. By real metrics NOE is doing a poor job.

The Smash amiibo functionality is very obviously tacked in.

Kinda the point of Amiibo versus other games with NFC. Most games with NFC, either the game is worthless without the figures or the figures are worthless without the games. With Amiibo, the games retain their value by only using Amiibo in a couple of ways and the Amiibo also keep their value by doing things across every game. It's not perfect-the Pokemon Amiibo are fucking worthless since they only really do stuff in Smash-but it definitely seems to be how they're trying to do things.

The Animal Crossing Wii U game seems to be an attempt at changing to be more like the competition, though, sadly.

who cares about "rare" amiibo at this point.

If you're not a college student with free time to sit outside a best buy for hours when they open you aren't getting this shit

I think such exklusive amiibo deals make sure that the retailer has plenty of them in stock.

So you can go to the store and get the amiibo easily instead of search in five different store which each has only few.

Seriously considering importing. And hey, if anyone is awesome over in Europe that could snag a Pittoo and Palu, let me know about prices.

$27 is a bit too much when it was around $24 before the announcement. With how common Wave 5 has been overseas I'm having a bit of optimism that it might not be too bad over here.

But of course I'll likely be horribly horribly wrong....

You would think that, but so far only TRU has been moderately successful with their exclusives.

Walmart had Gold Mario up a few times, so it wasn't awful, but the windows were very short. Then they launched them at midnight at some 24 hour stores, and most had just a handful in stock.
Gamestop's exclusive Shulk was a disaster with most stores getting enough in for preorders and nothing else. Some didn't even HAVE Ness on launch when stores had already had a hell of a time with that whole online/in store preorder clusterfuck.
Target's have had some stock, but not really that much and was dependent on the individual stores who could also decide what they wanted to do with how many each person could buy.
TRU had success only because they somehow managed to swing more stock than any other store. Mine had 30 of Greninja while some others had nearly 70 to 100.

My Best Buy had 7 Meta Knights, and there was coincidentally seven of us waiting in the below freezing temps for it. No more, no less.

you'd think. You'd think that's how it'd work.
But it only changes it from the first person at 5 different stores being the only ones who'll get an Amiibo to the first five people at one store being the only ones who'll get an Amiibo.

I'm not crazy about Amiibo or collecting like this, so I only got Megaman. He's the star of some of my favorite NES games and I really love his smash bros design.

I feel really bad for you guys because Nintendo is doing this the Yamauchi way (constrain stock) and really making it too challenging to collect.

Some challenge is good. Fun even, but this is ridiculous. I expect most people to just give up at this point.

It'd summer outside I'm sure I can deal with sitting outside best buy for a few hours to get a amiibo I actually like that idea more then racing to a button and dealing with crappy Internet lag and throws you off for getting a Pre order in people buy amiibos in second maybe even quicker than that. So for me to sit in a line there would be like 10 of them per store as long as I'm like in the 10 I'm sure I'd be fine.

What might suck is if they do exclusive in stores only for paultena and dark pit at the same time then we'll looks like you're only getting one of them.

LOL @ people saying

"please just import them, its only $30". no, im not paying over %100 mark up for something that should be readily available in the first place. im just going to stick it it a display case anyway. so no, i wont pay over retail.

Amiibo in america will not be readily available until smash line ends nintendo could send a 100 of each amiibo to every store and still all the ones that have been deemed rare would still all be gone within hours the hype and demand is too damn great especially with new people joining the hunt everyday.

KAY. instead of paying 20-30 to get it hassle free, you can go pay 50-80 from some scalper.
