Dark Sector up on Steam. Surprisingly cheap.

Decided to get this as I actually really like the game. This port has a really bizarre issue though. When you run it in 16:9 resolution it's actualy vertically stretched. You can only see half of the ammo counter and everything just looks kind of strange. I doubt there's any hope for a patch either.

Oh yeah, and it doesn't have online multiplayer either, only LAN -.-
What are your system specs and framerate? I might only buy this if I can max it on my notebook.

I have an E8400 3GHz and Radeon 4850. Haven't got any programs for checking framerate but it never dips, runs completely silky smooth.

Absolutely not worth it. $5 would be excessive. Possibly the blandest, least-engaging shooter of the generation so far, at least of the ones I've played. ÂŁ15 is practically robbery.

Edit: Although, as the above post proves, nothing is so terrible that someone on the internet won't defend it.

couldnt have said it any better myself

Well I liked the 360 version. Kind of a forgettable game, but every time it is mentioned somewhere I remember it being pretty fun.

Throwing the glave then steering it in slow motion to chop off 2-3 enemy heads in a line was pretty sweet.

Seems people liked it more than you thought. There are way worse shooters out there.

Game was pretty decent. I had a lot of fun with the glaive. Liked it enough to beat it.

I just saw this at GameStop used for $8.99. I was about to buy it until my friend shouts out "Naw, don't get that shit! It's garbage!" Kind of wish I had bought it now, though. :/

You can download FRAPS. It's free and the simplest fps counter.

Enjoyed my time with DS. Great graphics, Batman like Batarang was cool. Throwing it in slo mo decapitating enemies was cool. A bit repetitive. Good game but by no means bad.

Lol, the game is being sold for the full price of 49.99 € at retail here in Germany. That's both insane and stupid. Atari is handling retail distribution, don't know what they are thinking, really. :lol

Might take a little while to get them all, I only have I think 6 or 7 of them after 4 hours, I think I will play it more after the formula 1 qualify now that i'm in the mood.

I had a glave of a time

I still remember when this game was one of the first shown next-gen titles in EGM. I liked the main character's original look better. In the new designs it looks like Krull and some crappy CW teen drama had an ugly love child.

i like this one, not even a pretense. just a joyless, serviant husk.

what a truly wretched example of your species you are.

It's so bland. I could never recommend a game when there are so many better alternatives out there, regardless of how cheap it is. Time is more important than money and all that.

If you're desperate, it works, I guess? Buy a PSN/Arcade card or something and buy a real under appreciated gem instead.

Dark Sector is an amazing game, as far as I'm concerned. Loved every minute of it, beat it multiple times, paid full price when I bought it after beating it once as a rental, and I don't even feel slightly bitter that it started selling for peanuts a couple of months after release - it was more worthy of my $60 than most games I've played this gen.

The 'generic enemies, bland environments, no story' criticisms make perfect sense, but Dark Sector has so many high points that the few elements which were sub-par didn't bother me at all. The glaive alone makes the game worth buying, but with the boss fights, puzzles, RE4-style weapon upgrade system and crazy superpowers; I never ran out of things to love. Plus it looks great, and showcases some of the best sound design in gaming.

I have no idea why people hate it so much. I'm just sorry the game will probably never get a sequel.

this.THIS.FUCKING THIS!!!!!

I just beat it myself on PS3 and it held my attention very well. I really like the weapons and the glaive is fucking fun to use. You could call it generic I guess, but fun is fun, and $10 fun is better then $60 fun if you ask me. I actually couldn't put the game down, got really into it after I got past the first part of the game and beat it in a few long sessions. And I'm surprised someone would pass it up at $5 new, I mean as long as you have the time to play it, less than a meal at a fast food place, I would say why not.
