Dark Souls II Box Art Revealed

By the by. Despite the fact that I actually think the box art is fine. I would have preferred them to bring it full circle (death by arrows).

Here's my quick/shoddy take on what the box art for Dark Souls II should be.

I would much rather have this one, the official doesn't look good at all to me.

Damn, can't we make a petition to change the box art to the one Danielsan made? We've brought Dark Souls to pc like this, I'm sure this will work as well.

No?

i's love e HQ version in the custom covers thread (if it isn't already there)

I feel any game is boring if it does not give some kind of challenge. I like it when developers make gameplay challenging and respect the players intelligence.

I think it depends on the game. I don't mind if, say, a Zelda game is easy because to me Zelda is more about exploration and solving puzzles. But a game like Dark Souls, which is built around being difficult, is really boring when the game turns out to not be difficult at all.

If they are trying to establish Dark Souls and its whole gameplay formula and identity as the industry's swordy fantasy equivalent to the modern shooter model, in terms of being a concept which is accepted by mass audiences and repeated and refined and attempted to be duplicated by many other developers for years to come, well then I wholeheartedly accept our new cruel overlords.

We had a good run. 2 games. The dream had to die sometime.

But... aren't bxars displayed close to the release date ?

I mean :

the last time we head about the game, it was suposed t be at 25% or something...

but on the other hand :

> It's current gen (meaning they should not wait 2014 to release it)
> the areas shown look a lot polished
> we have a boxart...

What does this mean in regards t a believable release date ? I'm lost

So you're saying Dark Souls isn't about exploration/doesn't have any exploration?

I have a hard time believing that a person that finds DaS dull because of it's lack difficulty doesn't get bothered by Zelda's braindead handholding and difficulty.

I like it.

There's a clear difference between the Dark Souls cover and CoD/Infinite/Army of Two/etc.

The fact that the protagonist has his back to us and doesn't seem to be showing off how "badass" he is like all the other covers of this ilk says a lot.
Yeah, the composition may be superficially similar, but the impression is quite different. Most of the shootbang boxes give off a "fuck yeah, we're going to kick ass" vibe -- this is more somber.

That Monet looks exactly like this Thomas Kinkade toilet paper roll cover my grandma has. I mean, the bridge, the water... the similarities are obvious.

Fucking Monet wishes he was Thomas Kinkade master of light and shopping malls.

I like this boxart a lot more than the cover of the first Dark Souls. Looks great overall, as it sets the tone of the game really well. The Bandai logo does awkwardly stick out due to its color and size though (wish it was smaller honestly).

Wonder if we'll get a limited edition for preordering like we did dark souls, with an alternative cover.

That mock up looks great, the one taken from the cinematic. It pretty much accurately describes what you'll be seeing most of the game.

Much better, of course it could use some tweaking, but the idea is much less bland than what we got.
Oh well, i'll probably be getting this digitally so whatever.

Pleaseee upload ittttt

EDIT :
The fact of both of those :

Looks better than the official one, and similar to the original demon souls one made me think : is this because of the namco influencE ?

yeah, both look much better than the official. there's like, no desperation at all in the real one, just some generic badass looking character. very lame. i blame Bamco.
