Is there going to be a way to relocate (reset) stats? I really hope they have one like they did in DS2. starting over to try different builds is just annoying.
Also like the second game, Dark Souls 3 will let players reallocate their stats so they can easily experiment with new builds or undo unwanted leveling choices. Miyazaki isn't sure if this will be done via an item similar to Dark Souls 2's Soul Vessel, but assures, "there will be a method for players to re-assign souls."

one more reason to buy the japanese version. [actually I have no idea if they changed him in that one as well]
speaking of which, how many people are going to import the game? I believe some sort of import thread is needed, at least until the actual OT comes up. I can take care of that if no one was already planning on making one.

I'll be importing. Already have it preordered. There's also www.reddit.com/r/darksouls3jpn set up for this purpose as well.

On another note, anyone notice how Vaati's videos are at 60fps, but played on PS4? I'm really hoping that he just had his render set to 60fps. Everyone else has it at 30 from this preview event.
Becuase in Dark Souls one some of the best areas to pvp meant leaving certain bosses alive. If we wanted to be invaded in the forest we couldn't kill Sif for example. Having to choose between killing a boss or PvPing is a decision that made little sense then and even less sense now since DS2 got rid of it and it was perfect.

Why would you like it? I literally see no point in locking out online play once the boss is defeated. This was part of the reason why DS2 had such an active PvP community no matter where you went to invade.
Is Demon's Souls similar enough to the Dark Souls franchise to jump into before DS3 comes out? I've played Bloodborne to death & Demon's Souls is the only other Souls game I own, I just haven't played enough of it.

Demon's Souls really is Dark Souls 1 It's the blueprint...a surprisingly refined one at that. Judging from these new DSIII videos Demon's Souls has had an even bigger influence than before.

I should reword that. I meant similar enough to the Dark Souls franchise. The only other Souls game I've played is Bloodborne. But I will definitely play Demon's Souls.

Definetly is similar, Dark Souls was built over the fundations Demon's Souls set into place and expands considerably.
As the first one in the series, also has a few rough spots and there's the problem of an almost dead online (are the servers even up?), but I still firmly believe that Demon's Souls level design is the most consistent in the series, and I personally think is the best one, with BB in close second place.
Demon's Souls may really be the best of the bunch...It's so perfect for what it tries to do. It's crazy to think about the fact that it really was the first of its kind. It's true, everything was set into place in the debut game of the series...wow! Like an awesome accident.
If you don't have a current gen console already, then I definitely recommend the PS4 for Bloodborne alone. If you already do and don't want another though, then yeah, it's tough. It was hard to deal with not having Bayonetta 2 :C

I find it an interesting mechanic looking at the point of view of someone who doesn't really want to actively PVP, but still wants to go through the experience of invasions. They have a device to stop them for good, but still have to worry about them before they beat the boss.
Yeah, there's really a huge Nexus vibe. I assume that's precisely what people who enjoy Demon's the most were excited about (and disappointed later) when we learned that Bloodborne had a separated hub.
I just love how in a few hours there are more NPCs than the entirety of Bloodborne. I was kinda worried Bloodborne's low amount of NPCs had to do with development time, for some reason, but apparently it was just 100% a design decision. Tons of NPCs in this game.

You can still invade any area, so the choice is more if you want to host fights or kill the boss. Is there any special reason to host?
Every soulsborne game except DS2 work this way and it makes sense to me with the risk/reward of going human/summoning. When the boss is dead you can invade or offer help without interruptions. It's geared toward random invasions rather than organized pvp. I feel DS2 definitely lacked the thrill of invasions since often you'll just invade others looking for pvp or co-op, walk over to the nearest bonfire and duke it out.

The less people who can be invaded the less people there are to invade. It simply cuts out a huge number of possible invades. Also hosting fight clubs is a great thing you won't be able to do if you defeat a boss.

Nexus is my favorite hub, so the DS3 throwback is just great, and definetly I really like
the amount of NPC, and I love that everyone represent a part of the series, we have Andre from DkS1, we have the maiden which is like the reincarnation of the black maiden in Demon's "touch the darkness inside me" quote even!, we have the handmaid from DkS2 (which reminds me of the firekeepers from 2 too) and even the Crestfallen alike warrior). The low numbers fit BB, but for the Dark Souls sendoff having so many callbacks to past NPC's is great, just great
Thanks for this. Between this and the import thread we hopefully get i doubt i'll get too stuck. I'll be getting my codes off play asia, does anyone know if they need to verify your account for every purchase or is it just the first one? They called me when i got codes for Gravity Rush.

Yeah, it cuts out the people I wouldn't want to invade. I played DkS pvp almost every day for over three years and it was quick with plenty of people in almost every part of the game until quite recently.
Only one host is needed for a fight club and it's not like they became a thing with Dark Souls 2. Leaving Taurus Demon or Butterfly alive really isn't a problem.
I could imagine a covenant similar to the gravelord covenant where you could host no matter if the boss is there or no. It would have been way better that way. Or even make red/dragon signs work for anyone. But I'd prefer to invade people that are actively playing the game. I would also like to be invaded when I progress through the game, not only late game when I hang around a random bonfire testing weapons or whatever.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they change DS2 to work like DS1? After you kill a boss, the game automatically applies a permanent Effigy effect to that bonfire, preventing you from being invaded. It even persists into NG+. You can of course disable it in the bonfire menu though. Was that a Scholar only thing?
EDIT: Apparently it only lasts 30 minutes? I could swear I saw it in NG+ on bonfires where I hadn't killed the boss yet, but I guess I'm going crazy.

Yeah it's a scholar thing. I think it completely removes the online component for the area as I couldn't invade before deactivating it. It's not like that in vanilla DS2 as I recall.

I hope the hub area will be more like DS1, with people coming and going, instead of arriving and never moving like in DS2. It can be a pain if it happens with vendors but getting back to the Firelink shrine and seeing somebody is missing can really mess with your head.
With no clear date on when DS1 will be going backwards compatible on Xbox ive started watching ENB's From the Dark playthrough for my fix.

Yup, I really don't understand it. This is one of those games where you don't want to get spoiled...at all. And the rest of the world has to wait three fucking weeks. I'm not angry because the release is in april. I'm angry because I'll get spoiled (you just can't avoid every spoiler) and invaded constantly in early areas on release by japanese players. Thanks bandai namco.
I still don't know if it's fine for me to go ahead and open the import thread when the game comes out in Japan. unless only 3 people we'll be importing, I think we need one.
I'll never understand the moronic decision of not putting the red (or blue) eye orb in DkS II. it wasn't hard to get / buy the cracked ones but still an annoying thing being there for no good reason.
anyway that's great, I've seen other items making a comeback, e.g.
