Dark Souls III Press Event Discussion: Embargo - 8am CST (03/01/)

Source is at show currently-here are his thoughts and what he heard regarding PC version

I am at the event right now and they are running a PC demo version. It is quite smooth but I'm not sure if it is at 60fps, however the Bandai Namco representatives said it should be 60fps at launch but they are not sure about this demo as it is 6 months old.

When asked why they were showing 30fps demo the rep had 'no comment'

also from another person at show

Ok guys I played it.
It was locked at 30fps, I used an xbone controller so didn't get to check out the kb+m controls, I know I'll be using controller when I get it anyway.
The graphics options menu wasn't accessible so nothing to report there either unfortunately.

Its the same area as PS4 network stress test-with older style character creation screen and different boss names fwiw

30fps locked in the demo? *sigh*

At least I know that Durante will try to unlock it (and probably succeed in 15mins...)

How's the framerate on the ps4?

They said it won't be locked at 30 in the final version, so that won't be necessary. I do question the point of this demo though if it doesn't show off anything.

So it's should be 60fps right by release? Please?

I really do hope so. People won't be so eager to forgive them this time. DS1 was their first try but after the decent DS2 port there are no excuses imo.

I think the final version won't be locked though personally. I just can't believe they'd be that dumb.

The "A" team doesn't know how to do a good pc port. They also don't know how to make a reliable online experience, Bloodborne and Dark Souls 1 are proof.

30 fps souls after 1 was unlocked to 60 and 2 was 60 on release on PC? Never ever. Literally a waste of my time. But I doubt it will release at 30...I hope at least.

I said a long time ago that the pc version will run at 30fps lock and almost every user call me crazy or dumb...

they reason was " that's dumb why they will lock at 30 when dark souls 2 run at 60 "

The reps are saying "it should be" 60fps at launch, so we have reasonable certainty it won't be 30fps.

I am not worried one bit.

Good to know that it at least runs on 30fps, that's enough for me.
Hopefully they'll have enough graphics options to make up for it, if it's still locked to 30fps should be piece of cake to run all maxed.

Let's have just a little faith here, yeah? They say it'll be unlocked in final release, and they've already done it with DS2, so there's no reason to already be calling on Durante to fix something that probably won't need to be fixed.

They probably capped it at 30 on the old demo because it wasn't optimized enough to run at 60... better capped and smooth than uncapped and jittery as a mofo. How much worse would it have been if PC Gamer played the demo and reported back how horrible and inconsistent the performance was?

I'm not sure my rig's up to snuff anyway, if I can get smooth performance around 40 or so, G-sync will take care of the rest. Still better than the consoles, especially at 1440p.

And the PC version is coming month later than PS4 so it's no wonder that they're still working on it.
Nevertheless, 30 or 60 I'm also looking forward to enjoying it on 1440p.

The PC port will be 3 weeks after the JP release on the PS4. However, It will be the same as the western release on the PS4. So unless you care about the JP release, it's the same time as the PS4.

That's what I though. Plus, is not releasing March 24th for PC in Japan too?

I don't understand why everyone is so upset about fps.

as long as it's playable I don't give a single fuck about it.
Same. Though 60 fps is nice, on a console, I give zero fucks. Didn't stop me loving demons and dark souls any less.

People can care about what they want to care about, but ... Whatever, keep it in perspective

When they announced the JP release they only included PS4 & Xbox One. So, apparently the PC version will come in April with the global release on console.

It's an incredible series, easily the best Dark Souls content I've seen on youtube. You're gonna love it.

Yeah it's amazing. The little lore observations he makes are really interesting. A lot is speculation but they flesh out the story so well. Also learning a lot about light/darkness and the curse that I haven't seen all the other videos I've watched.

Everyone is very well aware that the console version will be 30fps. We're talking about the PC version.
