Dark Souls III: The Ringed City |OT| One Last Journey

When I went through that fight I totally didn't notice that that was a
real player
at first.
Dude basically played like an NPC lol I only noticed when I got hot by the ridiculous phantom range that's a staple in PvP. Neat concept though. I like it. Never get summoned myself though :(

what do you mean by
main boss
?...all I fought were 3 summoned helpers
The first thing that spawns is a normal enemy. Then after a short while, the main boss (either a NPC or a real player) spawns. This enemy is called "Spear of the Church" and is the main boss. Other enemies (same as the first) will continue to spawn during the match, depending on how much time you use.

This isnt ment to be a traditional boss fight. You get no soul item for beating it, and if you go to the Purging Monument, you can pay 60k souls to reset the fight (the next time you go to the church, the boss is active again). Its more ment to be a PvP element than a traditional boss.

I didn't realize that the 2nd person that spawned in was meant to represent the main boss...I thought the main boss was the guy we saw in the beginning immediately after entering the room and he was a really big guy...I wouldn't have thought he would spawn in as a normal sized guy

Ah ok, i see. Yeah, the big guy doesnt really do anything. He isnt the guy who spawns in as the normal sized guy, he just calls in help, saying "Spear of the Church, make haste" or something like that at the end. He will attack you if you get close, but if you dont kill him, i think he just dissapears. The main boss is the purple guy who spawns, he/she is the only one with the boss health meter :)

Darkeater Midir

So where does Midir fall on everybody's list of Souls dragon bosses? I'm having a hard time deciding between him and Kalameet as my favorite. Both fight very similarly, and while Midir has spectacle on his side, Kalameet has a more ominous presence in the game for me.

Beat him on third try with the two NPC summons. They're surprisingly resilient if you don't get the
laser final form of the boss.
I'd always get him down to 1hit before he would fly to the other side of the room and pull that shit. Which would 1hko me.
But I've bought all the embers so I'm kinda shit outta luck now.

Kalameet, Sinh, and Midir easily stand above the rest. Between those, can't decide, they're all great if a bit flawed.

Damn, the new covenant is super-fun... once you actually manage to become the boss on occasion.

I had some bad luck the first few rounds, so I decided to change my setup and try the new DLC Greatsword. Jesus, it cuts through enemies like butter, especially the weapon art which is massively overpowered. With one L2+R1 combo, I wiped out three phantoms!

Probably my favorite dragon boss in the series. The one I died the most to, and the most accurate depiction of what it would be to actually fight a dragon imo.

His second phase laser attack is kinda bullshit though.

So what's the take away on the story now that all the DLC is out?

It turned a lore into an even bigger bunch of inescrutable nonsense and I loved it for it.

Which second phase attack is that? I fought that shitstain ~30 times and the only attack I saw was
the regular laser beam that goes forward first, then to the sides.

Any help on the following would be appretiated.

So I talked to shira, beat the dragon at the bridge and then killed the dragon. I went back to shira's door, but she's not there anymore. Where do I find her?

EDIT: I misread. There an attack where he
does the laser attack that last for a longer period of time.

his
fire-laser-poison burst is pretty cool though
...it's only really annoying when he flies away from you and you need to sprint to catch up to him...all the while praying that he doesn't decide to unleash that attack

Man the last boss
Gael
was ridiculously easy! One of the easier bosses on the whole Soul series for me.

I managed to beat him on my second try. I was rocking a Barbed Sword +10 (my favorite weapon) and I could almost stun lock him until I had no stamina left. On his second and third phase I could hit him more than 10 times until he finally released that souls explosion attack.

I gotta say I liked both DS3 DLCs, but then again I'm a hardcore fan of the series, and even imported Demon's Souls from HK before the series came to the west. The first DLC was too short, and the second while appropriated in length had little enemy variety.

Still totally worth 25 bucks if you're a fan.

I just wish the last boss of the series was more appropriate.

I'm ready for whatever From does next. I'm still hoping for more Bloodborne, but I will take anything.

I'm hoping they someday return to the King's Field series.

Could you imagine a King's Field game with Souls gameplay? That would be AMAZING.

finished it

I saved the first dlc so I could play them both together and that worked well, I would have left very unsatisfied if I played Arandiel at it's release. But like this it was a perfect length.

as a very casual Dark Souls player, DS3 was my favourite From Software game and the DLC was pretty cool.

I hope they do something quite different next, I think even a Bloodborne 2 would just be too much right now.

here's a video of me managing to luckily beat the optional boss:

if I can do it you can do it too lol. I didnt even except to take him down, just wanted to practice getting him to
his 2nd phase, which is why I wasnt embered
I messed up a LOT and still managed to take him down.. ex: I kept rolling too much after his patterns ended even if it had no follow up

the best strategy really is to just stay infront of his head, his attacks are way easier to dodge that way

also using a fast weapon works... I had to switch from a greatsword to a straight sword for this dude

also equipped
a shield to block his overhead fire breath (that saved me) +the fire damage reduction ring

I feel the opposite. While it will take another playthrough or two to fully form my opinion on the game, I think it will end up being my least favorite From Software game. It's certainly great, but the combat is missing a few key elements that I feel make the other Soulsborne games much better.

Amazing fight! Charge at 2 minutes and breath at 5 almost took you out, but you set him straight with a stun and finisher! I was nowhere near as coordinated as you when I fought him. Beat him by the skin of my teeth 😆

Man, I put my summon sign before the Nameless King battle since I briefly wanted to test the new weapons against him, ended up helping dozens of people in 3+ hours

It's always good when new content revitalizes the community, too bad this will be the last DLC.

anything I will miss after checking out
filianore

I've found

patches, the purging monument, the dragon slayer armor enemy in the swamp, killed midir too

Midir's probably my favorite at this point. I also like Sinh and Kalameet, but Midir is the most satisfying to fight for me.

What exactly would those be? I can understand preferring the combat in other Souls games, but I wouldn't say DS3 is missing anything.

They really have a hard on for the
multiple phase two bosses
bullshit. Fucking hell.

There's no way I'm beating this first boss. Barely do any damage to
the Prince
.

loved the DLC...the only thing I hate is the way that most of the bosses are lumped together in a small area...I prefer them to be spread out...meaning clear a new area/level, fight the boss, clear new area, fight another boss...not clear 1 area and fight 3 bosses almost back-to-back...From Software has had a recent bad habit of lumping together bosses...they need to give them room to breathe

So is the Aquamarine Dagger worth investing in? It looks really cool, but I'm not so sure about the scaling and damage output. I'm DEX/minor strength build atm, but was looking into building some INT once I hit SL 100 anyway.

after not playing this for months it is really weird looking at my setup for everything

question and this might have been in there for awhle but what is the little mark next to locations when your about to jump to bonfires?

Man, this release has gotten me back the pvp. It's quite a while since I last played, so I had forgotten how fun doing random invasions is. Just all kinds of crazy shit that can happen. People being assholes in all kinds of ways. I love it.

It's making me think I'm not even close to being ready to see Souls go away. I would miss the crazy pvp too much

It indicates the activity of other players in that area.

Holy shit, I didn't think a 5v1 gank fest was possible. Poor dark spirit ended up black crystalling outta there lol.

omg, i can't believe that worked

stuff i saw in other people's worlds during invasions gave me all the information i needed to solve a puzzle i don't think i ever would have been able to solve otherwise

So,currently stuck with the 2nd mandatory boss but it doesn't seem to be that difficult.
I assume they wanted to give another chance to that mirror knight mechanic with this boss.
I love this dlc so far,the city layout is pretty cool.

Any PS4 GAFbros want to help me with the final boss? Just put your sign down right outside the bonfire door, password is GAFbros.

Note: I am on NG+14.
No takers? Is no radiant soul willing to shine their light upon this darkness?

It's not too bad, you won't get one-shotted if you don't get hit.( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

This
Spear of The Church boss blows
. I get the idea
and the Demon's call back but nothing takes me out of the game faster than when the boss is a player named Vape Nation sporting a super optimized PvP build. Guess I'll have to play in offline until after this boss...*sigh*

Thank you!

TBH I was pretty sure I was screwed when I was out of estus and he still had 1/4 of his health... I got really lucky there :)

The Ringed City is gorgeous, by the way.
It is very pretty. I love the meadowy patches with flowers and sunshine. Abyssal swamp also looks neat with the purple crystals and creepy faces poking out of the surface.

The tall circular catacombs room looks pretty shitty though. Very obviously reuses assets.

Hard to choose between Midir and Kalameet. Kalameet has stood as one of my favorite bosses throughout the series. I loved his appearances and fun attacks to fight against (like the telekinesis grab attack what is ear-piercing and awesome).

Midir is, like I said in a previous post, a giant dragon done right and what the Ancient Dragon should have been. Larger than life yet still capable of being incredibly aggressive, almost like a rabid dog. And his laser beam attack definitely puts Kalameet's grab attack into the dirt.

Might have to give it to Midir. But both are fantastic bosses with both probably being some of the most difficult and have taken me the longest to defeat (along with Gael and Manus).

Sinh is also great, but I've always found him to be a less spectacular Kalameet. And poison (or was it toxic?) is pretty eh.

The rest of the dragons are garbage.

After thinking about it, this is sort of how I feel too. I always find it a bit silly that game dragons don't use their flight and fire-breathing capabilities to attack from above and spam entire areas with fire. Ancient Dragon tried to do this, but it made for a tedious and cheap fight. Here, they managed to do the same thing, while still making it mostly fair and fun
