Felt awesome hehe.

of Annor Londo on my first try. I'm not really sure what people were complaining about.

How did you beat it and did you beat it with other people?

EDIT: Also
who did you kill first? Killing Ornstein or w/e first makes it a whole lot easier.

There are a lot of conditions that can change how tough things are. Can be more vast than an easy mode and a hard mode. (I probably went for a harder time, but I enjoyed it more that way.)

Okay, after a bit of Undead Parish farming along with another successful summon to defeat the Gargoyles, I'm now lvl25. Put another two levels into Attunement so I can have my 16 combustion, 16 fireballs, and 6 fire orbs. NO COMPROMISE!

I think the new few levels will probably all go into Dex or my Pyromancer Flame. Gonna try and tackle Blight Town later. Can't wait to experience the 5fps awesomeness. Lulz.

HOLY CRAP. Is this the normal level for defeating the gargoyles?! I'm in Blighttown and I'm level 20 or so. Are you over-leveled or am I under-leveled?

I used soul spear (and Great Heavy Soul Arrow) on the little dude (I missed twice though -_-;) while backing away. The bigger guy can't reach you with his attacks if you back up. After the little dude was dead, I got a little closer to the big guy roll dodged his lunge attack and used Heavy Soul Arrow until he died.

Oh, and I soloed it.

OK, so he's supposed to be trapped somewhere? Where exactly? I don't even remember running into him.
Also why should I kill him? Is he basically Yurt?

Riposte said:

I beat him on my first try too, but i did help someone before, so i knew what to expect. Took me like 30minutes though. I just had my shield up all the time, and it blocked all of their attacks, and hit them once only with my spear after i blocked to be safe. Got a few extra hits when he dashed to me.

So where to now I've finished the gargoyles? Ran into the catacombs and got decimated by a bomb. :|

There is a gate behind the armoured boar in the undead parish which I opened from the other side but it was closed again when I died and came back. Anyone else had that problem?

I think a big part of getting through this game is in your attitude. After a few shots at the Capra, I just basically said "Ok, I'm going in and getting a feel for this guy. Just moving around, trying to do some damage, just learning how it feels to fight him". This is very different than watching youtube movies of people finishing it. Once I felt comfortable with the whole fight, I beat him in two minutes the next time.

Haha, imagine

No magic/ranged/shield(and a short range weapon like Scimitar) and killing the big guy first(thus having to constantly dodge the little dude and face, imo, a harder transformation boss.

Speaking of which, magic seems crazy good in PvP. I got one shotted a few times...

Yeah, seems like the zombies shuts that gate at the first opportunity.

There's a hollowed soldier that dashes to the gate and closes it once you he knows you're there.

A Hollow Soldier runs to the switch and closes it every time he sees you.

What's funny is it's one specific guard that does it. If you wait a bit after you enter the area coming from the portcullis side, all of the guards attack you but that one dude makes a beeline for the gate controls. It's pretty funny. He takes his job very seriously :). If you hit a bonfire and respawn the zombies - even if you are nowhere around - that dude runs and closes the gate.

Ohh, anyone know where I can get my hands on a strat guide for this in Australia? EB doesnt have it, which is disappointing.

This is very true. I think the biggest problem with relying on youtube videos is that some things cannot be replicated exactly (enemy AI, positioning, etc) and attempting to do so will generally leave you in situations which you have no idea how to react to if you go into expecting to just replicate what is seen in a video. Another thing is that there are so many different play styles and builds in the game that something shown in a video might not be the most comfortable or suitable method for everyone.

Getting back out the great hollow is shaky stuff, I was prevented from progressing by the ground being glitchy and not letting me simply walk over it, I was doing running jumps on the spot whilst on a very precarious branch and I was still halted by an invisible wall. Fortunately the leaping attack just about got me over this problem. Well thankfully i'm out now, that whole section was an interesting diversion to say the least.

I was wondering about that. I skipped him earlier, but when I went back to the cell after I fought
Bell Gargoyles
he was gone.

Do I miss out on anything if I don't free him myself? I know about the quest later on.

Okay, so how exactly do I ninja roll? I was originally told 50 DEX, but now that seems to be untrue. It is a ring isn't it? What is it called and where do I get it?

Btw, this is coming from someone who has 40 humanity, the item drop bonuses cap at 30. (210%). Hard way, that is how I learned this .D:

It seems like people are at the same place as me in the game but actually have spells, equipment etc. I'm like level 25, doing Undead Parish and all I have is the stuff I started out with, not a single thing more...well, except for Boar Helm.

Just beat Quelagg, fuck that boss. Took me about a dozen attempts because of that got damn jumping fireball shit. Also most of the attempts I did when I was about to kill her she either ignites herself or she does that aoe scream/fire bullshit that 1 shots me. I was fucken MAD.

Although Flamelurker is still #1 on my rage-inducing boss list.

Yea there's been a lot of misinformation about the roll, Dex isn't a factor but you still need to get your weight <25%

It's called the
Dark Wood Grain Ring and you have to be in the Forest Hunter covenant to get it. When you are in the covenant it spawns an NPC near the cat, named Shiva of the East and sells awesome weapons when you get to Blighttown. If you look closely you'll see an invisible ninja bodyguard. You need to kill the bodyguard to get the ring and doing so brands you as a traitor with the Forest Hunters and the merchant dissapears. I'm grinding a bunch of souls to buy everything I want off the guy before wrecking them for the ring

Afterward, I'll try grind souls and absolve my sins again and report back as to whether I can rejoin

I watched a youtube video of the capra demon, and the demon starts down the hall. First time I went in there he was already right in front of me and I had no time to react at all.

is there a shortcut to that demon from the nearest bonfire? I'd like to avoid the dogs/ninjas if possible.

Guys I need you to tell me where to head next, I got 3 places to go:
-The Depts
-Londo
-Darkroot Garden (I got fucked by a bush yesterday)

Also, is there a concensus for a place to farm souls?

Tomb of giants is the worst shit I've ever played, it's driving me crazy. I've finally made my way all the way down and cleared out a room of casters and baby skeletons. I'm waiting at the fog door now and am too scared to go inside. Will there be a boss as soon as I go inside or will I be able to find a bonfire close by?

The fastest route to the Crapo Demon is
from the Firelink Shrine if you have unlocked the shortcut in the Aqueduct. If you take this route, you will only have to kill 2 undead ninja-things (and they face away from you!) and 2 dogs.

If you go from the door of the capra to the right, and then down it will lead you to the firelink shrine, from there is like 2 minutes.

If you pass it, you'll go under the little bridge leading to the light door. There will be two assassins. On the left will take you to the aqueducts which also leads to Undeadberg. (The right is the door to the Depths, locked.)

Btw, it is really lame it is based on a ring and not stats.

Best place to farm is the Garden after you get 20k souls and open the door. Short of that I use the Depths to farm and suggest you go there first, kill the boss and take the 20k souls you get from it to open the garden. I'll probably be down there tonight farming humanity and large titanite shards and helping ppl with bosses if ya need me SL34 :)

Np, and yea its really lame. I originally had my heart set on a Dex build to do this but seeing that this isn't the case, I've decided to go faith and pyro. <3 pyro once you unlock some spells. I really need to figure out where to get more miracles, I've bought all the ones from firelink and they're not great tbh, save for heals when I help ppl with bosses. I think most ppl don't realize that summoned friends can't heal and you have to drink your own flask to heal them

Demon's souls was a hell of a good time, but one of my only complaints was that the division of levels seemed disjointed and rather gamey. Given the almost old school vibe of the game, this wasn't a huge issue; however, it did (for me at least) diminish the overall atmospheric tension of the world when I simply thought of the areas in terms of their assigned game numbers and then planned my path based upon those numbers. Creating a more unified, cohesive game world is absolutely a step in the right direction. It's a little bit more work to figure out exactly where to go, but the central theme of the whole series seems to be: When everything isn't explicitly spelled out for you, when you have to struggle and work to complete your task, when sometimes the game isn't even fucking fun because of how stressful it is, the rush of joy that comes with accomplishing something is amplified to near hallucinogenic drug levels.

The online is a little bit of a mess compared to its predecessor though. I have no clue why they split their player base among who-knows-how-many servers. If there really is enough players that they had to use multiple servers, then two thing need to happen. 1) They need to add in a way for players to end up on the same server as a friend with whom they are trying to play. I personally love the random element, but some people want to play with friends. If you make it really hard for them to play with friends or to talk to those friends (even if it's a conscious design choice to add to the hostile, loneliness of the game), they aren't simply going to give up and play the game the way you designed it. Instead they are going to go to great lengths to make it work and end up resenting you for it. 2) The population of each server must be high enough to feel populated, and this concept needs to be expanded to include ensuring that there is a decent population of comparably leveled people for each player. Im not sure how hard this would be to program into the game/servers, but for a game that really sells itself on the unique multiplayer component, it's unacceptable to actually take a step back from the predecessor.

What's the level range of invaders? I was just wandering round the Depths lvl 22 and some guy invaded and managed to 1 shot me almost and I hardly took anything off him even with a heavy attack when he wasn't even guarding.

Did you go out the bottom to the beach? God I had to strip and run like hell the whole way and when you get to the end its just tha dragon convent and no way back! Must have took me forty mins to get from that, up the hollow and to the fire near the spider boss!

Great, I'll be sure to summon help if I find the sign, I feel a little underleveled after the capra kicked my ass like nobodys bussiness :( had to summon 2 phantoms to kill that mother fucker.

I am stuck in Duke's Archives
how do you activate the rotating stairs that you first come accross ? I know the other stairs have a lever in middle, but this set of stairs , i can't even reach them. The one in the area with the two casters.

Zzoram said:

I think its because
if you have the master key and can kill Havel at the bottom of the tower, you can unlock a door to darkroot basin. There's a giant ladder near the hydra that lets you bypass the 20k gate and if you're good enough you can run all the way to alvina and join the covenant. Once in it they won't attack you.

All speculation on my part but I think it is feasible. How much dex did they have?

err wtf? I had a certain item, namely one of the gifts you get to chose in the beginning of the game. The doll. But now it's gone! Wtf?!

Feeling like I could take anyone on atm. Killed the knight in the church towards the boss you fight on the roof. Killed that boss, went to the gardens and killed the butterfly and killed that one legged demon that shoots lightning on my way back. I think i'll deal with the pig and the dark knight up the stairs next.

Sound like you should go to the Depths but it all depends on what you have beaten and what your level is.

Depending on your level I recommend getting the 20000 crest from the blacksmith in the Undead Parish and going to the forest and farm the NPC's there. 5000 souls really quick and they respawn and there is a
hidden bonfire right before the entrance that is behind a hidden wall.

Exactly the same thing happened to me in the same area. I was level 22 and was invaded by some guy double-wielding sickles. At first he did not move and even let me backstab him with my drake's sword (took around 30% health), but then he killed me instantly with one hit.

I felt so weak. :(

There's one set of stairs that you have to jump down to, but I don't know if that's the one you're trying to reach. You're supposed to get down to the ground level and activate some switches, if that helps.

Take the shortcut elevator to the Undead Parish, then bail about a quarter of the lift journey. Then you should be able to do some climbing upwards and get to a nest of eggs, interact.
