So does the framerate ever get as bad as Brighttown and new Londo Ruins in any other area?

I have played through Blighttown and it was so laggy it was barely playable imo....

Please tell me these are the worst or are there areas just as bad?

Difficulty from PvP shouldn't come from the use of cheap items, it should come from skill. We're not talking about some boss here, we're talking about two players fighting on a completely uneven playing field. If the game is harder for me (which you claim is FROM's goal) then that's only because it's 10 times easier for the person who's doing ninja flips around me while I can't lock on to them.
I agree with you 100% and I wish it was not in the game either but does anyone know if there is any counter to it? Like maybe Chameleon? Or Hidden Soul? There has to be some kind of counter of even AOE spells that you don't need to lock on.

I think the biggest problem with it for for straight meleee users.

Okay, for anyone that fought the W
olf
... when he got low health, he started
limping to the grave... but I had already buffered the fucking magic spell so it killed him... what happens if you let him slowly go to the grave?

I had a bug in Lost Izalith that dropped fps to like, 3-5, but a quick exit and reload fixed it. I think those areas you mentioned are the worst.

Is there an item like the Thief's Ring from Demon's Souls in this game? If so, where can I get it (at work, the wiki is blocked).

Yes, it's in Sen's Fortress, makes it so you don't produce sound. You need to jump down a ledge at some point to reach it, it is in the corner of an area that has 2 square holes you can fall through.

It should be close enough to the start of the stage.

Considering this is a Souls game, why wouldn't there be an abundance of assholes? Hell, Japanese/High level Western players are already camping in groups in Forest Covenant hotspots to jump quest participants. More and more players are already starting to use the Fog Ring in combination with the Slow AoE spell, both of which are incredibly unbalanced. Moreover, it doesn't make PvP a challenge, but it completely invalidates 80% of ways to play the game (good luck beating a competent fog ring user with a magic build or a weapon without a sweeping move).
There has to be some weakness for a fog user?

Nothing. Whatever you heard would happen, was likely just part of the pre-release bs rumormill.

I mean, honestly I didn't really care that much about the PvP and how balanced it was because I'm not really into that aspect of the game, but when I lose 30,000 souls (not that much in the long term I realize, but still) because some guy killed me using the Ring of Fog it starts to hurt my enjoyment of the game as a whole.

The other thing is it completely discourages me from ever wanting to get into PvP. I was thinking that maybe I would give the multiplayer component more of a look this time around but now I am completely turned off to the idea.

Anyone please have some tips for Crossbreed Priscilla? The boss at the end of the painting?

She is fucking me up.

I went to that ledge that she asks you to jump off of and watched for her footsteps to come close, then either use a spell or attack right in front of you. She has pretty low HP, but can 1 hit you in the back pretty easily too. That way she should have a harder time getting behind you, but still gotta block on occasion, through essentially guessing.

Give her 30. Alsso get an egg on your head and talk to the dude to get two spells

So how do I get an egg on my head? I know one was is to break the Chaos Covenant but is it easy to get back in again or do I have to pay a huge fine?

Gravity spell and big sweeping weapons or AOE magic would render it pretty pointless, and in that case they'd be giving up a ring slot for nothing. I'm sure there's plenty of other glitchy cheese to throw around too, which is why I don't really even bother thinking about doing PVP in this game right now.

gonna go online today! :D patches! invaders! bloodstains! all that good stuff!

Should I see if I can get double cursed just to see if the patch corrects it or if it locks me into being 'cured' at the first curse I lift? I kinda want to try it... >_>

I haven't reached the boss in Blighttown yet (reached the second bonfire and the just explored the swamp and waterwheel areas before stopping last night), but overall I haven't found that area all that bad. I was expecting it to be worse early on because of the jumping enemies and the poison dart blowing guys, but since the dart blowers don't respawn, they really aren't much of an issue.

Same. It's pretty much the only area I have been able to get through pretty easily and on my first pass through. There's definitely slow-down as well, but it's really not nearly as bad as I was expecting judging from the reactions here.

So I went to Blighttown for the first time yesterday, and with a great deal of effort and caution made it to the first bonfire without dying once! (from The Depths) So, I lit it, and made a crazy jump that I wasn't sure would work. It didn't, and I died. Oh well!...except I found myself BACK IN THE FUCKIN DEPTHS because I LIT THE BONFIRE BUT DIDN'T SIT AT IT. This is the worst thing that's ever happened to me.
This is actually better than returning to that bonfire.
Like you I managed to reach this bonfire without dying but I regret it. I was dying a lot after that and I wish I could make it back to the surface.
I am level 22 so I guess I am underleveled. But if I want to level up, I have to get out of here first. I already lost more than 60k souls or so. Really frustrating.

Well I just met
Seath the Scaleless
for the second time. This time the actual boss battle. I got cursed and killed within a minute by his area of effect attack. Hit him a few times but it looked like his health bar didn't drop.

Thank god those
Oysters
before the boss fight drop purging stones.

Ok, I'm outta this thread! I really want to keep up but there are just too many (micro) spoilers that are ruining part of the mystery for me (e.g. just finding out that the Valley of the Drakes is just a hub kida killed the mood a bit, although I probably wouldn't have minded that much if I had discovered on my own).

Also, hearing that the Crystal Caverns and Lost Izalith are badly designed also kills a bit of my anticipation to discover and explore those places myself. So.. no more spoilers for me! :)

I'll check back once I've completed the game =)

I didn't hear anything... I just felt sorry for it :( What is the pre-release bs?

Lag is something else that drives me nuts. Considering how much you can lose from being killed, it's pretty frustrating to get backstabbed by someone who is apparently 10 feet away from you and over to one side.

I hated being invaded in Demon's Souls and I still hate it in Dark Souls :( Thankfully, co-op is still awesome.

From Lost Izalith to Crystal Cave... what the hell is going on with this game? It's becoming such a bad game, it's not even funny. Just straight up constant bad design from one place to another... slowly but surely becoming a 5/10 for me and one of the biggest disappointments in recent history.
What's wrong with the Crystal Cave? Aside from the boss I haven't encountered any difficulties with it. Also the enemies drop amazing loot.

What's this about? Can you or somebody else be more specific? Are you talking about killing a phalanx, resting, repeat, for farming souls?

DuendeSmoker said:
Elaborate please!!!

Ducky is essentially going out there nuking people with hardly any damage taken. With the bonfire he's refueling himself and is gathering souls without much or any danger to his life. Hence my survival comment. Phalanx is referring to iron flesh I believe, that promancy spell that ups your defense to high levels.

Okay, I need this answered: I just beat the iron golem and got to
Anor Londo
I want to go back to firelink shrine to buy spells from Bighat Logan before venturing further. Is there going to be a fast travel any time soon or should I go back to firelink before going further?

Yeah, I think I might try to embrace the co-op aspect of the game next time I play. I'll put my sign just outside of the Anor Londo boss room and help some folks avoid the hell I experienced from that fight.

I tried to help people on the Sen's Fortress boss yesterday but I never got summoned and I was tired of waiting so I left. :)

I didn't mind the Crystal Cave either. It only lasts about 5 minutes anyway.

Lost Izalith on the other hand...

Narrow passages, invisible passages
=p

Gotta say I'm not a big fan of the level design beyond Sen's Fortress. Every level I've been to after that has been a clusterfuck of confusion and cheap difficulty.

Maybe I am weird or something but I am looking forward to fighting fog users in PVP.

You'll get fast travel after beating the boss of Anor Londo.
. Might take you a while.

Once again, people are not talking about the difficulty, just bad/annoying/questionnable design.

Well
the passage are narrow, but there's like one respawning and two non respawning enemies on them. The moonlight butterflies are optional and the invisible paths are clearly marked by the dropping water and actually seem fairly wide/forgiving.

I actually thought it was nice change of pace. Some fairly peaceful cave exploration. Just take it slow until you properly know the way.

Okay, so I finished Blight, then went all the way through to the Ash Lake before I had to stop. Do I really have to run from Ash Lake through The Great Hollow through Blighttown through The Depths just to get back to Firelink?

Really?
I just beat that boss last night and stopped at the bonfire shortly after. Do I get fast travel soon or should I already have it?

I just realized. Halloween is coming up. I wonder if From Software has an event planned like they do/did with Demon's Souls? Wonder what it will be though since they don't have world tendency...

I am thinking about joining the Forest Hunters tonight. I heard about the vendor under the elevator in Blight Town that appears if you are with the FH. I was reading earlier it is a good idea to buy all the stuff from him and after it killing him... How much souls would I need to buy everything from him? And won't it break the alliance between me and the Forest Hunters?

Yeah I think so. So glad I went there after getting the ability to
warp between bonfires

Just move into the room after the bonfire. :P
Be aware though. Fast travel is severely limited and probably not what you expect it to be.

No, you just have to run from Ash Lake through The Great Hollow through Blighttown to the Valley of Drakes shortcut. :p

It's still a long journey.

Just went through
Londo
to get uncursed, whooped Gaping Dragon's ass and bought the crest to unlock the farming door in Darkroot! Productive Dark Souls session :D

Well they said they would do DLC this time around right? I wouldn't mind an optional downloadable boss/area. I'd gladly pay for it too.

Man. I joined the forest covenant to do some invading. I am ONLY meeting what seems like supertweaks that oneshot me. Man. What is this sword they're all using? Look like a longer drake sword that has trails of fire when they swing it

That is the Quelaag Furysword, which I plan to get myself once I get to Anor Londo. The smith there will take Quelaag's soul and a Shmitar + 10 and make that sword for you. Looks badass.

I'm currently in Andor Londo and I want to progress further now, but I get to a point where I am climbing shingles straight up as two giant knights are slinging giant stone cynder blocks arrows that if I block have push back, and if they hit do insane damage.

I tried rushing them twice to kill one, and while I managed to off the one guarding the treasure once, the other one is not letting me get anywhere near him.

What do?

Man, I hope FROM can spot these people and just send in Black Phantoms to decimate them. Cunts.

Just get a shield with 100% physical damage reduction and make your way towards them like a tank. Make sure you are walking straight towards them and whenever you are in plain site there is space for you to get knocked back a little without falling off. Just don't let an arrow hit you with your shield down! Once you get close they will pull out their swords. When that happens just wait for them to attack and then hit them once. Bring your shield back up and wait for their next hit. They key is making sure that you take it slow and that everything that hits you hits your shield. Also, go for the one on the right first, that's what I did and it made things much easier.
