Is there a Bonfire close to Quelaag's Domain? I heard there are 2 Bonfires in Blighttown and I have only discovered one.
There is one at the very bottom in a tunnel along the right side on your way towards the waterwheel and Quelaag's Domain.

This is a lot tougher and cheaper than Demons' Souls. Period.

Compare the first bosses; Phalanx is slow-moving with mainly defensive/short-range attacks whereas Taurus dashes in and basically blitz attacks at close range.

Also, From have methodically eliminated all the cheesey ranged strategies that it taught us in Demons', few sniper spots and enemies that will not just stand there while you plink them to death...

In Demons' Souls, the plain truth is that From went really easy on us. This time they are really pushing it. Just like they said they were going to.

This Fog Ring I keep hearing about sounds like it should be renamed The Troll Ring, lol. As much as I love the single player to death, that sounds like it is going to be abused to hell and back in PVP. The game trolls me enough. I don't care to have some ass wipe invading my game and adding to it with his advantage item he is abusing, while I am trying to stay focused on the task at hand. Which is beating this game. I am going to wait until NG + to have some fun with PVP. That way I will know the levels and can spend time focusing more on the multiplayer aspect.

I dunno, I feel the threat of PVP is definitely worth as part of the default experience. I don't get a rush from games like that except maybe in EVE when I jacked some fool's shit. It's intense and worth experiencing when you have something to lose.

Knight Lautrec quest question:

So I invaded and killed him in Anor Londo and got all the loot from that. Unfortunately I used the Firekeeper's Soul from him to reinforce my flask because I didn't know you were supposed to use it to bring the Firelink woman back to life. Is there any other way to bring her back? I do have a spare Firekeeper's Soul on me from New Londo, but whenever I click on her cell all I get is the "DEAD" text box.
Looks like she remains dead until a new game.

Yeah, I'll probably end up dabbling with it some as I go along. I am going to stay hollow for the most part, though. I am just trying to stay focused on beating this game for the first time right now. NG+ will be more about PVP for me.

what about the part where you had to walk on thin ice and go through tomb of the giants without a light. The atmosphere is certainly there. It's like they are saying to gtfo to you
yeah there are CRAZY moments in this game, really.
that crystal cave gave me a weird dizziness (and i don't suffer from vertigo in real life)
They were able to create a truly special universe.

Which Blacksmith takes Scimitar to +10?

Andrei only took it to +6 :(

Instead of choosing reinforce equipment, go to modify equipment to take it further. Also, I think you have to have given the Ember to him. Which is located
behind the Butcher in the Depths

I accidentally used the
Firekeeper Soul
Lautrec dropped...

Guess my
Firekeeper girl's revival in the Firelink has postponed to NG+
...

I did give him the ember, and also using modify equipment. I'm guessing this Blacksmith isn't the one I should be at...

You reinforce to +5;
You modify to +6 normal, or a special named type, such as raw or divine;
You reinforce to +10;

You have to go back to the reinforce menu; if it's not there at all, maybe you need to give him a particular ember.

To the person in here who was saying he didn't know how to get another pyromancer flame because he traded it to snuggly:

If you talk to a pyromancy NPC without a standard pyromancy flame in your inventory, they should offer you one.

I have upgraded my flame to +2 Quelaana flame, so I don't have a regular pyromancy flame in my inventory anymore; when I talked to Eingyi (using talk), he asked if I had an interest in pyromancy, I said yes, he handed me a new regular pyromancy flame.

should i take the scimitar or the estoc to +10? pros / cons?

I personally hate the Scimitar, but am upgrading it to +10 so I can get Quelaag's Fury Sword from the smith in Anor Londo. I think that works with any curved blade, though. Like with the Falchion as well. As for the Estoc, I know I like it much better as far as a straight comparison goes. Everyone is different, though. Just go with which one feels best for you.

i think the estoc looks weak and dumb when attacking but man i can shred through some shit (and i havent even upgraded it at all yet).

I really need to do something about my weapon. Still using my starting scimitar +4 and against both Gaping Dragon and Quelaag it does barely any damage. I managed to beat Gaping Dragon by using gold pine resin but now I have nothing like that to help me out on this next fight.

What's the closest blacksmith to Blight Town. Main weapon's nearly wrecked =(

Also is there a boss in Blight Town? and is there a shortcut back to the surface or do I have to go through the sewers?

I had a very good day today.

I got through Blighttown, killed Quelaag and rang the 2nd bell.
Got back out, opening the short cut to New Londo.
Went back into the depths, cleared out all the frogs and got the Ring of the Evil Eye which is very cool.
Went back into Blighttown and got the 2nd Fire Keeper Soul so my Estus Flask is now +2.
Upgraded my Ilota to +6.
Tried one of the Lizards at the door of Sen's Fortress and didn't get my ass handed to me.

Feeling good! I know it won't last but heh.

Anything else I should go and do before I hit Sen's Fortress?

Also my official guide from amazon has changed status to: Dispatching Soon. Excellent if a bit late.

Ride the elevator attached to the water wheel, quickest way out is there and up. Will have to do some climbing. Good luck.

I only have mine at + 5 right now, so I am not sure then. I'll need to be knowing this as well, if he can't take it to + 10. As I want that Furysword.

My guide is arriving today, I need to read on the weapons and armor parts, can't wait.

1 question: is there a way to kill the Hydra in the darkroot basin at level 26? I noticed yesterday that their long range attack makes a lot of damage and if I use my shield it drains 3/4 of my stamina.

I just blew almost all of my decent ores and all of my Demon Titanite, but I don't care because now I have a Quelaag's Furysword +5.

COME AT ME, SUNBROS.

Forest spoilers:

So I managed to piss off the little wolf by answering her question wrong, which sux, but I went and killed Sif and got his soul anyway? I thought there was some big ordeal to get his sword where you had to let him live and stuff? What's up with that?

just destroyed moonlit butterfly. that fight was REALLY easy. took zero damaged and my new soul arrow build is just awesome for ranged attack.

next up....stray demon, then sewers! wish me luck..

Does Dark Souls have new game+?

It goes all the way up to NG+++++++. It gets increasingly harder each time, and after te seventh NG, it doesn't go up in difficulty anymore.

Question: cat ring. Do I just need to equip it and wait?

Beated Quelagg on my first try,her patterns is quite slow and predictable. And son of the bitch, that stupid man eating chests at sen fortress >:(

Don't have to, just a choice. I went and killed it personally.

Let us know how you fare with the Stray Demon. It keeps killing me and my bloodstain/30K souls/7 humanity are down there :(

Hey how does Q. Furysword +Max measure up to Iiato Lightning +Max or L. Spear +Max? I'm wanting to get it because I heard that it's hella fast.

No idea, haven't gotten those up to that sort of level (don't even have a Lightning Iiato at all).

I'm still super early in the game, but the leveling system feels weird to me.

I'm a Wanderer, and I can't really justify investing in anything other than Endurance or Vitality. Strength and Dex don't increase weapon damage enough (basically an increase of one percent?), so I can only see putting stats in those to have access to weapons. I don't have spells yet so Faith, Int, and Attunement are kind of useless. Is this pretty much standard for early game leveling?

I have the same problem, especially with healing. I press square, nothing happens, try to put my shield up and the healing animation starts...and so I die.

I thought it was something wrong with my controller.
Patch this FROM SOFT.

There has been this weird controller bug that I've heard about some times and experienced probably 10-15 times myself. The scariest of all of the times was when I was standing at the top of the ladder to Blighttown, only to do a roll out of nowhere. Now, I am used to doing the occasional R2/L2 mispress, but that was simply not input.

One thing is the way button presses are buffed normally - if you hold up your shield, and a boss is doing an attack, and you try to dodge, but press it too late, you will first block, and even though your character's been standing there for half a second, he then decides it's time to roll.

But this is when that buffering bugs. Sometimes an attack happens several seconds after I input it. And craziest of all was that roll. I have no idea what input it even came from, but I know I didn't press it by mistake. Didn't roll off the cliff, though!

What are the benefits of later weapons, besides a different weapon skin? It just seems to me that leveling up a weapon you get in the beginning makes it as powerful as a weapon you level up at the end.

Vit/End have the best earlier benefits yes. Point for point though, soul levels don't really improve your character as much as equipment upgrades.

ugh any idea where a bonfire is in lando ruins? I cant light the one up at firelink shrine.
After you
drain the water from New Londo Ruins, you open up this giant gate that leads into the Valley of the Drakes. If you go straight past the dragon guarded bridge, you should fine a bonfire in the middle of a cave that links the Valley of Drakes with the Darkroot Forest. That's by far the closest bonfire to the endgame boss hidden in New Londo Ruins.

It mostly happens to me when I attack right after letting my shield down. It definitely is a bug, and it's annoying when it happens.

Also, I finally got tired of getting RAPED by
the ghosts in Londo, specially that place with 8 fuckers... ugh
, so I guess I'll just boringly farm the 3k, uncurse myself and ignore the place until I'm twice my actual level... Goddamn frogs.

For those of us working on obtaining the Furysword, can the Blacksmith in Undead Parish take the Scimitar to +10? If not, which one does?
