Dark Souls Prologue Trailer: Part 1

"It is being developed for PS3 by FromSoftware, and ported to the Xbox 360 by Namco Bandai."

So we don't need to fear that the PS3 version will suffer from the existence of a 360 version this time?

hah, i didn't even notice that lil blurb in GB.

Guess that, for the most part, answers what version I'll get. I guess it depends on multiplayer functionality as well though this go-around. For Demon's Souls it didn't matter that I have no one on my PS3 friends list.

This world is so beautiful; just so goddamn beautiful. I love this world man.

DARK SOULS, YOU ARE MY BITCH!!!

I try to avoid watching more stuff, but then I can't resist, I wonder how many times I'm gonna get killed this time until I finish it...

By the way, does any Gaffer know what is the code that we got from a site couple of months ago? Something to help in our journey they say, but I wonder what is...

Anyone?

PS3 is the lead version because Dark Souls probably reuses the Demons' Souls engine, which was made on the PS3.

What it really means is: you better don't buy the 360 version.

I think the goal of these prologues is to be as cryptic and mysterious as possible.

In the beginning, there was the mist. And from the mist, came the spark. But this spark was not to ignite, for there was an evil brewing. And from that ancient brew, there arose the spirit of another.

Demon Souls had some pretty sever framedrops. Dark Souls trailers/walkthoughs had them as well.

I can't even imagine what the 360 port is gonna end up like.

Trailer has no spoilers. It's setting the mood mainly.
Thank you sir

Darn... I'm pretty bummed now. I was all excited to play some Dark Souls with my (much preferred) wireless Xbox 360 controller. But if FromSoft isn't handling it... I think I'll have to cancel my pre-order. :(

Yeah I was under the impression that From was developing both versions...

From an Edge preview:

Hidetaka MiyazakiÂ’s desk isnÂ’t unlike that of so many Japanese videogame makers. A small army of rubber and plastic figurines battle for space with a PC, keyboard, mouse and an Xbox 360 development kit across its laminate surface.

Love the mood of this, can't wait to see more of it. As someone on a media blackout, it's nice to know I can at least watch something related to this game before it releases.

a land of gray crags, crooked trees, and 'everlasting dragons' eh? yea... that makes sense

oh and fire came AFTER the everlasting dragons. who apparently only breathe non-fire fire

I've cancelled every other game I've pre-ordered for the rest of this year.

I'm sorry Skyrim, Resistance 3, Space Marines, Uncharted 3, and whatever else I'm forgetting that I'm no longer going to buy.

I only need one more game this generation and Dark Souls will be it.

That didn't make any sense at all.
Sure it did. It's a creation story for the world in which Dark Souls takes place. You've got a cool, dark, homogenous world, that gets disrupted by the introduction of fire. We're introduced to a race who came from the "dark side," and the trailer ends.

please please please tell me the Maiden in Black's voice actress is back?

hopefully they don't all sound like the narrator or whatever that is. im not impressed with the voice work in the above clip but the writing isn't that good either so I don't know if I should judge based on that...

the cast for the voices in demon's souls was very good, not the usual voices who all sound the same

In reality there will be barely any voice acting the actual game and very slight basic narration at occasional spots (beginning/end). Not sure why people care about the voice acting.
