Dark Souls Trilogy Remakes Reportedly In Development

I'm baffled by people not liking the Demon Souls remake graphics. Some of the enemy models might look a bit westernized compared to From's own creations, but the overall increased fidelity of the world makes the game much more immersive.

But more importantly than that, it plays better than the original. The improved animations make the gameplay a lot smoother.
Not enough yellow filter and excessive bloom.

Nah. Played Dark Souls later and is a very annoying game.

After Bloodborne and Elden Ring I prefer to their sucessor or a Bloodborne Remaster.

I'm really curious on how they are doing this with Dark Souls 2.
Are they just improving graphics, or actually fixing the many gameplay problems it has.

DS1 already had a remaster. Just remaster 2 and 3 and call it a day. No need to fully remake those games.

Now Bloodborne on the other hand.......

Kinda doubt it, but if ends up being true as long they don't do what soy Sony did by destroying the art direction with fetish realism in Demon Souls, I'm ok with it.

If they don't do same mistakes as Demon's Souls and destroy entire asthetics for sake of "pretty picture" I wouldn't mind the remake.

But worse case I still have this.

Still hard disagree. Demon's Souls remake was just about perfection. And the original was one of my favorite games of all-time.

Don't really see the need myself. I'd probably consider grabbing 1 and 2 again though if they went on sale big time later. I'd also only buy ilthem if they removed the 60fps cap on Pc

Maybe 2 will actually be playable this time.

(Yeah yeah I know. Low-hanging fruit but I can barely express how much i loathed 2. The original launch was too easy and the SotFS was too frustrating, they just couldnt find a good middle ground.)

Honestly, I really hate remakes for games readily available on current platforms. Anyone who wants to play Dark Souls can easily buy them. Maybe except DS2 and DS3 in Switch. But, if From Software is going to spend resources on remaking these from the ground up, I'd much rather they do King's Field. Even if it's a re-imagination of those games in 3rd person with Souls mechanics. I think the experience will be different with a different lore and vibe.

The only way a Dark Souls Trilogy gets exciting is if they do like a new experience by merging all 3 in a single campaign or something crazy like that.

I wonder what they have in mind for this project. I think all 3 titles have flaws, despite being masterpieces. I feel rounding the rough edges could hamper the overall quality of the franchise.

So perfect that Sony closed the studio. I bet you think their SoTC remake was perfect too. Sony fan boy brainrot.
C'mon man. The bluepoint game was awesome in the technical department. They screw up and drop the ball with some artistic and design changues, granted. But the game played the same, even better at 60fps. Right?

I really don't want a remake. I just want Dark Souls 1-3 (vanilla version of 1), well-optimized for modern machines. That's it. Don't get creative. Don't change things. Just the real, unadulterated experience.

Eh, highly doubt it, atleast if made by FromSoftware.

FromSoft is making The Duskbloods and probably have two more games in the works, Miyazakis next big single-player game ala Sekiro/Elden Ring and a game with another game director ala Armored Core 6/Nightreign.

Guess: We know The Duskbloods is this year(if not delayed), 2027 we get the Armored Core 6-type game and 2028 will be Miyazakis next big SP game.

Again, I really doubt we will get a Dark Souls trilogy-remake from FromSoftware themselves, but I can of course be totally wrong.

This has switch 2 written all over it.
People need to cope with the fact that the PS5 is irrelevent in Japan. No one in From's home country played Demon Souls Remake. Getting another studio to remake and release it on more platforms is the smart thing to do.

Now as for who, that's going to be up in the air. Bandai Namco has a brand spanking new engine that has so far, only been used for Kirby Air Riders. This would be a good project to test out the new engine with some young devs at Bandai. Especially since Code Vein 2 seems to have flopped.

DSFix coming out of retirement? I hope these rumours are true but not handled by From, because they could make dreams stutter and freeze. Side note, if they changed the audio for combat in 2 I would be so happy.

I own each one digitally, but if all else fails.

I wouldn't mind it. I like to replay them whenever I can. My last replay was DaS2. Upgrades to QoL would be nice, but then I ask myself why? They're good games. I love DaS3 and it doesn't feel old. We literally had the first game remastered not too long ago. I'd take it either way. It makes me wonder if From Software would ever touch the Dark Souls games, but I doubt it. Duskbloods and Nightreign are it for now.

Is this even true lol, I can't recall this guy ever leaking anything or having contacts. Thought he just reposts vids etc.
edit: yeah i'm pretty sure he's joking

Makes sense to me. FromSoftware hasn't yet made the leap to the current generation and is likely working on updating their engine. The Duskbloods on Switch 2 is good excuse to use the obsolete engine one more time, while giving them a few more years to complete the new one.

My guess: Elden Ring 2 built on the updated engine, but still far away. Dark Souls 1 Remake sounds ideal to test, learn and trim the edges of the new engine.

Theres absolutely no point in doing this remakes while keeping the current engine... so I hope you're right and they will be using a new engine. That I hope can deliver finally good perfomances.

But it wont...
