'Dark Universe' Core Creative Alex Kurtzman May Leave The Franchise

I don't think a shared horror icon based universe is an inherently bad idea they just went the wrong direction with it by chasing that Marvel money right out of the gate. They should have looked to James Wan and made a series of horror movies on a stripped down budget that makes gangbuster money's at the box office.

Less of a gamble than pissing 300 million or whatever on total crap.

If you aren't interested in the car crash hilarity of Cruise, Russell, Bardem and Depp visibly losing all of their minds in a brilliantly shite team up film, you ain't shit.

The Mummy was glorious trash. Right down to a genuinely incomprehensible ending.

Turn back, DeathyBoy.

Only pain can come from this.

Woh...Kurtzman bungled a film and franchise. What a huge surprise!

Why why why would they have trusted Kurtzman to this? The dude who suggested someone like James Wan and mid-budget horror movies was dead on. Give them to horror directors that care.

This was such a monumentally dumb, dumb, dumb idea. No surprise that it crashed and burned.

Just reboot Monster Squad or Van Helsing. People only want to see these monsters fight each other. Nobody cares about getting an origin film for every single one of them, and then having them team up 5-10 years down the line.

Honestly they could have just done a Mummy 4 that shifted a bit in tone back to the first and went from there.

Tomorrow: Sony Pictures announces new creative lead for their studios handling the Spindelmann Extended Parallel-to-but-not-necessarily-completely-connected-to-MCU Universe.

After seeing Kong last night, that shit is how you set up a universe quickly and not in the exact Marvel way.
(personal opinions of both films aside)
Credit scene was also one of the best in a long time.
