Keep in mind I just got my 360 so all of these new games seem impressive to me.
I thought the Darkness demo was pretty good. Aiming is a bit off but the graphic and animation are pretty bad ass.

I'm in the minority, and having not played the full retail version of Bioshock, I'm somewhat uninformed, but from what I have seen of both games, I'm more excited about The Darkness.
I'm currently playing that game and really enjoying it. I played the Bioshock demo the other night, and while I get the sense that this is a special game and a really standout piece of software, I left a bit underwhelmed.
Bioshock's movement and shooting felt a little awkward to me, and the graphics ranged from "wowzers" to weak (panning over the underwater city in the bathysphere, for example, I couldn't help but think how much more detailed the Ratchet & Clank city looked, and even on its own, the geometry and texturing looked pretty spare). The Darkness' visuals, on the other hand, are maybe second only to Gears, in my opinion.
Maybe I don't yet grasp the concept of Bioshock and that's why I'm fairly cool on it. But after experiencing the demo and going back to Darkness, I realized The Darkness just grips me more at this point in time.
YMMV, to each his own, etc. Perhaps I'll feel completely different when (if) I play the final game.

Hell, I dont even own a 360, and have played The Darkness, and im telling you, get Bioshock.

Man, you guys are way too harsh on The Darkness. Yes, Bioshock is a superior game. It's also pretty much superior to anything else released this entire generation thus far.
That doesn't mean The Darkness deserves such a thrashing by people. It's still an enjoyable experience.

The city isn't real, and it wasn't actually built underwater. However, the game designers and artists of both games had their shot at creating panoramic views of their game worlds. For whatever reason - and probably because that shot only appears once in the game (I'm guessing) - it looked pretty last-gen and lame to me. Especially compared to other next-gen games, particularly that similar scene in R&C.
I visited one of the 50 Bioshock threads on this board and saw people saying "fuck IGN!!!11" for saying BS isn't as technically amazing as Gears, and after playing the demo, I absolutely agree. Some things, like the flowing water, look fantastic - very convincing - and other areas remind me of Metroid Prime or something - colorful, but without a lot of whiz-bang graphical effects to really punch up the detail. All in all, pretty uneven.
But I already made the disclaimer that I've only played the demo and haven't seen the final game or all it has to offer.
edit: OK, I get why the city views are incomparable. In R&C, you actually play through those environments. In BS, you're indoors. Apples to oranges. I still thought it looked lame.
