Darksiders 3 Reveal trailer

So she should have no boobs? Or be 200 punds heavy? None of the male chracters look like the average male, we are talking about Darksiders.

None of the males were designed to be sexy. Fury was. And yeah, god forbid her wearing an armor to dosn't heighten her boobs, she should cut out her boobs instead.

And what it means "We are talking about Darksiders"? What kind of justification is that? I don't get it.

Yes, the only alternative is a double mastectomy and morbid obesity. That's it. Nothing else.

And not only in Darksiders. Most games out there are made of muscular or very fit male characters (and many of them constantly showing theior abs).

I am not feeling the character design at all. Or the CGI is not doing any justice.. however, the quick look we got at her back in DS1/2 looked better to me.

Still hyped though.

Lol

Even this covered up outfit brings out the same people. Woooow

I hope she has an outfit that shows of a midriff
that will really get the ball rolling. Maybe a little ankle.

You're a joke.

If it's like DS2 she will have multiple s of stuff that you cover up those nasty boobplates and retched heels to protect you.

This is what we need to not have people come out.

and just like that, tacklemacain comes up with two ideas that would actually make the character more interesting in design despite coming at it from a completely garbage angle.

This is what we need to not have people come out.

haha. grow up.

nice, I'll take it! DS1 partially covered that "Zelda" genre on the PS3 for me, I hope DS3 will have the same mechanics.

The wife and I like the design. It certainly doesn't feel overly gratuitious. It accents things without throwing anything in your face.

Honestly, it just seems like a cool/good design.

I don't feel like anything about her is a 'Sex Sells' scenario.

These discussions get really tiring. Sure, the boob armour is a trope, but people are complaining about the heels? One of the most common shoe types worn by woman in the world? Nah. That's a weird thing to complain about.

"But heels aren't good for fighting in!"

Sure, if you're not one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse.

Can't we just be excited for a new entry in an amazing series?

It always follows the same pattern:

- "I think this is bad"

- "Nah i think its fine but that's cool if you dont, can we actually talk about the game tho?

- "Oh sure we can, it's not like we need to have a critical discussion on sexism in the gaming industry or anything lol /s /s /s /s /s /s /s"

I don't see why we can't just make a specific topic for this instead of trying to turn every single thread into a discussion on what a few people decide to deem unacceptible, by no terms other than their own.

It's like any female character that isnt in either a hoodie or full traditional plate armor is not only exempt from being a good female character, but fully deserving of being called sexist. It's crazy.

I wish they'd used the make-up/facepaint design from this artwork instead of the one they went with.

Butt hell, I'm so chuffed there's actually a new Darksiders in development that I can't be bothered complaining much. Beggars can't be choosers.

Softer facial features? Sideboob? AND we can see her ass?

What are you, some kinda pervert?

I would have preferred that look too, but all the other horsemen look terrifying so i guess they changed her up to match.

People are so garbage. You can really tell who the mra red pill people are right away.

Exactly how is "it's a fantasy" a good argument? Seriously, I'd like to know how fantasy automatically makes sexist female designs ok?

How long are the first two games? I own them and want to play them sometime before this comes out.

Darksiders 1 is probably 15-20 hours, depending on how much side content you want to do
Darksiders 2 is probably 20-25 hours, but has even more side content.

Most of the people in this thread are fans of the series, I'm not getting how we can't be excited and have issues with the design of the main character at the same time.

Nice to see the franchise given another chance, but yeah, that wasn't a great trailer.

Fury made absolutely no impression on me at all. It took almost the entire duration of the trailer for it to sink in that, yes, she's the protagonist of the game. On the subject of her boob armor and heels, I think this is a good example of the limitations of such tropes. I have a higher tolerance for sexualized and fantastical elements than some do, but as we so often see, this is a case where sexualization comes at the cost of particularization. Fury looks generic. And while that only partly comes down to the tropes in question, a non-sexualized design would have helped.

Is a problem everywhere, we are in 2017, not in the 90's, why this game should get a free pass?

And people are calling it a "trash design" which is harsh, but dosn't mean "sexy designs shouldn't exist"

yeah, not focusing on her figure/boobs at all

Since when the only way to make a female sexy is by showing skin?
Stop judging women based on looks.

I'm not a huge fan of her design myself, but I'm hyped none the less.

on the topic of character design, I do wonder if fantasy character design is limited by a very narrow view of masculinity and femininity? I honestly think the traditional view of a heroic males relies on hyper masculine stereotypes for designs and vice versa for female heroes. This hero is MAN so he has to be MANLY! If he has armor, he has to look like a walking fortress of MANLINESS, then we'll know that he has to be strong to be wearing that armor! If he doesn't have armor, he has to have bulging muscles and look intimidating. A female hero is WOMAN so she has to look WOMANLY! She's a WOMAN so we need to know she has BREASTS! She needs to wear heels, because only WOMEN wear heals! She also has to be slender because she's the ultimate FEMALE! Male and Female characters appear be designed to model caricatures of their respective sex to fit a idealized view of gender. The male hero is the ideal man, while the female hero is the ideal woman.

Anyway, I'm very curious overall to see how the game's structure will turn out. By the looks of it, I'm assuming it will mirror DS2 more than DS1.

I don't know, man. I have seen my fair share of sexualized fantasy designs, and the very LAST thing that entered my head upon seeing this woman was that she's sexualized. From the screenshots atleast. I mean, there's a big difference between her looking and acting like Bayonetta, or looking like she's from a Spawn comic, and the way she was acting in the CG trailer. I'm not seeing it. :/

Fantasy obviously doesn't make things right though. Not arguing that.

Its not lingering on boob closeups like Kojima stuff. The fact that someone interpret it as such says a lot about them.

It's the reveal thread dude. A bunch of info is being laid out right now and this trailer connects all of it. As pure usual, once more specific info about the game is revealed, specific threads arise to focus on that one thing. Take it up with mods if that structure bothers you so.

Plus, what's actually stopping you from talking about the game. Plenty of people are doing just that right now.

If this game has the focus of one with the combat of 2 it'll be everything I want. The loot in 2 was a cool idea, but I never felt that rewarded with all the hidden chests I found since the loot was either worse than what I had on or became obsolete soon after.

The combat was so good in 2, but I felt like I was trying to get from Point A to Point B so much that I would avoid fights until I knew I was actually making some progress.

Either way I absolutely cannot wait for this to come out so excited!

Couldn't be less interested in how this looks artistically. I guess this is one of those times you had to be there from the start to see the appeal.

her face looks a little too... Saturday morning cartoon? especially in contrast to War. hopefully they touch it up before release.

Difference, your definition is about the ideal man for men and the ideal women for men.

This comes from long, where fantasy designs on both males and females were done for men in mind. It's so ingrained that a lot of people take it as standard, hence the"it's because its fantasy"mindset.

I dunno man, seems straight forward to me... No sexy thoughts = no heels/boob armor = no arguments

"Sexy thoughts" dont control what someone draws. That's where youre losing me. There is no connection between your first two points. It's funny that you think there is though.

I don't know how I feel about this taking place at the same time as the second game. I kind of wanted more progress in the overall story.

I think they're going to do the same for Darksiders IV too (with Strife) and finally advance the story in Darksiders V, where you can play as all the horsemen.

I was never actually a fan of Darskiders art direction. With this one that's no different.
I hope we can have some gameplay soon though, cause that's what I like about the franchise! =)

Why is every ''sexy'' character sexist these days according to some? Never see people complain about the violence in games, movies etc so why is nudeness or sexyness not okay? Because how is that worse than all the blood and gore in games and other media. That's why i think it's just dumb to call a game sexist unless it really discriminates genders/sexuality on purpose.

Fury is one of the freaking horsemen of the apocalypse why would such a character dress in the perfect acceptable way?

Why are people so ashamed or whatever you call it for nudity and sexyness? I honestly don't get it because the game/devs are not actively trying to discriminate women.

And honestly i never saw people complain about bayonetta, 2b, Samus Aran bikini endings etc. Heck you even have sexy characters in Zelda games and i never see much people complain about all of these examples + more.

I myself don't mind sexy/nude males/females/demons etc in games. If that's what the devs want and think it fits the game why not and honestly in all my years of gaming i have seen both male and female fanservice in games. But honestly humans i(humanoid like beings too) can look quite good so i understand why sex sells. It's not a bad thing imo if violence is ok to sell so is sex then imo.

Sorry for the long post just wanted to explain my opinion and view on it properly otherwise some might think i am a sexist wich i am not. I support equality for all people no matter their sexual orientation or gender.
