Dave Chappelle is probably the best comedian of all time

didn't Hicks often end a routine with a rather hopeful and encouraging statement about society? Or maybe that was just a particular show I saw.

He did occasionally talk about the potential humanity had to be great, yeah, but overall he was fairly cynical. Some of his stuff, like the piece making fun of English hooligans knocking over dustbins, weren't really neither positive nor negative, just plain fun.

Another guy I just don't get the love for is Louis CK. He's funny, but there's nothing particularly ground breaking about his comedy that I've seen. Granted I haven't seen much.

Well, if 'ground breaking' is the yardstick, then let's just dismiss everthing after, hmm..., Lenny Bruce, say, and just be done with it.

Louis CK is just flat-out hysterically funny. It's the material, it's his delivery, it's the fact that he looks like he's having FUN. Audiences thrive on stuff like that. And then there's his TV show, which is a whole different (and equally good) subject...

In order to see what you were all talking about I saw 2 stand up show from respectevely Dave Chappelle and Louis CK.
Dave is really funny but I sometimes have a hard time understanding what he's saying, whereas I understand Louis better, even if his comedy can be a little redundant (masturbation jokes...granted it's the best kind of joke).

It's also funny to see how the local comedians in my country sometimes use the same sketches/jokes.

So if you have some comedians in the same style of Dave or Louis, I'll gladly listen to your suggestions.

Dude just died. Damn.

Chappelle is top 4 to me. In no particular order, Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, George Carlin, and him are the best.

A DAMN SHAME~! Dude made my day EVERYTIME he was on Opie and Anthony. Open my eyes on how I view women too. RIP.

They had him on after the NBA Finals, and that was great--another good one was when they had him and Chris Rock on, and Rock explained to him why he didn't get the Father part for Everybody Hates Chris.

Great stuff.
