Tomb Raider was fantastic.

I agree. Great characterization of Lara, and the gameplay was a step in the right direction. TLOU just got everything right though. It's also one of Sony's biggest breakout IPs, so it's weird to see one of their prominent developers not mention it in their top 10 list.

Loving all the other games on his list though. Resogun AND Dragon's Crown don't get enough love on these.

TLoU fans have nothing to complain about. The game is getting praised everywhere and, as much as I enjoyed, I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the degree it is being held up. I certainly don't want it to be the example followed by the medium, despite its success.

No, the fans that ought to be sore as us Dota 2 and 101 fans, who sit and weep for all those who never experienced nor will ever experience the joys of those games.

the last of us is this year's game of the year for many, many publications. gamespot and the new yorker are the only ones that stand out for not including it at #1 (or in the new yorker's case, not at all).

after i first played it, it was my favorite or second-favorite game this year. i played gone home last night and a lot of the things the last of us did so very right, gone home did so much better. it lessens the impact of the last of us for me, and if i had to make my own list, it would probably be in my top ten still, but much closer to the bottom.

So it's understandable why he wouldn't put it on his Top 10 list if he didn't really have fun while playing.
