I’m getting worried about the Twin Peaks revival, gang. I hear the rumors about David Lynch and Showtime not seeing eye-to-eye on a few contract points are true, which begs the question: Shouldn’t Lynch’s deal have been finalized before the project was announced and Kyle MaClachlan signed on and all nine scripts were written? Show Business, you confound me sometimes!

Update:

We were saddened to read David Lynch's statement today since we believed we were working towards solutions with David and his reps on the few remaining deal points. SHOWTIME also loves the world of Twin Peaks and we continue to hold out hope that we can bring it back in all its glory with both of its extraordinary creators, David Lynch and Mark Frost, at its helm.

David contacted cast members today to inform them Showtime pulled the plug.

It may be better left dead anyhow. They can't pick up many of the old storylines. All the original actors are old, and many of the important actors are dead.

Agent Cooper's wide-eyed enthusiasm would just seem so weird coming out of a guy that's well into his 50's at this point.

Jeez, really? Has Lynch considered any crowdfunding ideas for producing and distributing a new series under his wing? The man's picky, and I appreciate that, but it keeps leading to situations where he and other companies (even Criterion) just can't agree on things.

If Lynch couldn´t make it work in the first place I doubt he would have bothered reviving this. It was going to be a mix of old and new actors anyways, right?

It's not like Showtime has much of a future. They have no content lineup. They have no real money or brand cache or talent.

Fuck Showtime. Hopefully Netflix picks this up, though I do kinda doubt it.

I would like AMC to pick this up -- except for the fact you know that they would try and stretch it out over the course of like 2 years. 4 episodes in 2016, 4 episodes in 2017.

Well, the scripts are written and if this is really cancelled and is not picked up by other network, I hope Lynch finds a way to publish them.

Why would Showtime make an official announcement months ago without everything being final with iron clad contracts.

:(

Netflix please

They literally just gave this to Netflix, and I'm okay with that. Netflix is what opened up the show to a new generation of viewers, including myself.

Strong Black Coffee coming to AMC this February.

Not available on Dish.
