Daylight Reviews - Should have stayed in the shadows?

I finally know what this game reminds me of. A modern day pacman. You've got your maze structure, your power pellets (aka the notes you must find) and then you get to an exit. Rinse repeat. Ok maybe it's not quite like Pac Man but you get the idea. The story is about just as thin too. I was highly looking forward to this game and it's one of the biggest dissapointments for me this year so far.

Seems decent enough to me.

So many people commenting like they expected the next big thing in survival horror or something.

It's a $10 game.

Skip your fast food for the day and you get to play this, enjoy and move on.

Games are too heavily scrutinized these days.

The problem is the fact you have other games such as Outlast, that are a similar price range and really offer much more then Daylight does. Sure it's only $10 but with that mentality you end up buying a ton of $10 dollar games and eventually you realize you've spent hundreds of dollars on games you played once, or never even bothered finishing because "they were cheap"

I'm a huge horror fan when it comes to gaming and all these games were you play a character that can't attack and simply have to run for your life are getting extremely overbearing in the market. If you want to stick out and be something more, you have to increase the stakes, do something that comes out being memorable and fun. Sure the twitch integration and the dynamic changing of maps, etc at times makes thinks a little more interesting. Yet It's still the same experience and doesn't really alter much at all with a story so forgettable, you wouldn't even replay it for that. This is a game for the youtube masses at it's finest. If that's their target, then I'm sure it will be a success. Otherwise most will forget it and move on.

No that's a frankly horrible argument, just cos it doesn't cost alot doesn't mean it's worth your time or what that could be spent on otherwise. There are countless indie games out there for $10 (or even humble bundles for less).

I thought Outlast was quality, even once you kind of learned the mechanics of how the game's scare tactics worked, I had a good time with it to the end, and plan to pick up the DLC for it.

Daylight has always looked pretty subpar in comparison.

Yep, Outlast is good. Looking forward to the DLC.

I rather spend more money on something decent than buy lots of shitty cheap games. My time is worth more.

Well, I'm not really interested in "run away" games to start with, but I hoped Chobot and Anthony would put out quality from their first shot.

PC users should know that is runs very, very poorly. I have a really good rig (i7-2600k @4Ghz, 8GB RAM, 680) and at 1440p it can barely hold 30fps and I have post processing at medium and all nvidia stuff off.

Lol those reviews are pretty bleak.

Still, looks like hardly anybody was able-- or willing-- to test out the Twitch chat integration for this game. That's really why i'm going to pick this up. I think that alone sounds fun to me.

Got fooled once by Outlast(even though it was free on the PS4) and this looks like more of the same,so pass for me...

How were you "fooled"? Outlast got very solid reviews, while Daylight has received bad reviews. Outlast was my favorite horror game of all time.

There are a lot of free indie horror games that are way fucking better than this. Don't waste your time/money. It's no joke one of the worst horror games I've ever played.

And I thought you were mostly positive on games, nice to see this side of you :)

Well as you know I am. I actually feel bad saying all that stuff but it's just true. The longer I thought on the game the more the seems began to fall apart. Did I have fun that first playthrough? Yeah. Did I get scared at times? You bet! Would I want to replay it? No. Would I reccomened it to people? No. Would I say it's worth your money? Sadly no. I could lie and sugar coat shit but it's just legitimatly how I feel. Will there be fans of the game, of course! As much as I disliked the game, others will enjoy it. I will say I loved the enviromental art and the limited OST. So I still give it some credit, just not much.

I just finished this. It's okay I guess; I'll probably play it one more time. Basically the same idea as that one horror game with that tall guy or whatever that follows you around, gameplay wise.

But the ending is so laughably horrible it just kills me. Like, when the credits start rolling I just lol'd hard and was like "Really???" Pretty dumb.

Also, this game makes UE4 look bad, and I have UE4 as I like to play around with those kinds of things and UE4 is MUCH better technology than this game would have you believe.

I think that might be you (but not limited to):

I have an i7-3770k Turbo'd to 3.9GHz, 8GB RAM, and a GTX 780 and I ranged from 70-100fps at all times (no vsync option)

Just because *I* didn't have problems doesn't mean others won't. But I played it pre-release with various patches and performance like that stayed consistent.

Mine only chugged in one area in the sewers with water. After that is was pretty smooth sailing.

I'm not sure why you would put hope into two IGN people with no experience making games.

Sounds like a real stinker, but I'm sure I'm just an anal asshole.

These bad reviews are just as well for me because this game came with the graphics card that I just bought, but I think activating it may have implications on the card's warranty, so now I have no reason to bother with it.
