Days Gone - Alternate Playthrough E3 2017

This is the first time I've seen anything from this game that made it look interesting (to me). Looking good! Glad they released this video. I might give this one a shot now.

Both the melee and combat and gunplay didn't have much impact or weight to them at all. Like many that was the area I'd like to see them polish up more.

Well that was pretty great. Love how dynamic the game is. Visuals are impressive too. I hope the extended Spider-Man demo gets put up on YouTube soon as well.

Game looks... okay, but very safe. A typical Sony AAA production I´d say (and not saying this as a flame), because it´s a well made 3rd person action game... you have your shooting mechanics, you loot stuff and you can hide in bushes. I don´t know, don´t think this kind of game excites me anymore but lets wait and see.

Open world TLoU, looks great! A few things I would like to see see is much improved combat (Melee and shooting looks really floaty with little impact) and less ammo

Looks awesome and can't wait!!! My most anticipated and wanted title for 2018. :)

No matter how many times they say it,I just hate the name Freakers lol...also why does everyone kind of look crosseyed, just a pet peeves ;),but overall this looks great.

You know it man. They really have to work in the camera for these before release becaues they lack oomph. It's especially noticeable becaues I just played TLoU again a few days ago and that is still the king of of these realistic TPS games for melee feel.
I should also point out that it's not just the camera that needs work but the animations in general.

I think it looks really good and I'm looking forward to getting to see more about the characters, story and whatever else it offers. I like the dynamic elements, like different weather and some enemy placements

Will it be the best game ever ? probably not but with Bend making the game, I'm pretty sure the game will still be very good and with no date yet, there is plenty of time for them to polish the game.

Also barbed wire rage bear ! :)

You might want to replay Batman because that does not look to be this style of combat

Fair enough. Batman was a bad example for the combat but the rest is fair enough.

Look at it this way, if it turns out to be great and not be another open world checklist title, you're allowed to change you mind later and like it after playing it.

Yeah. Fingers crossed it will be better than the sum of its parts. At least it is a new IP

Man I could actually be interested in this game if the combat didn't seem so lifeless and it wasn't Zombie game #65432345 I was already 99% done with Zombies when Tlou came out.

The alternate path is more interesting than what was shown on stage, just like last year, but I'm still not totally feeling it. I don't think it'll be bad, it just lacks a spark to totally hook me.

The devs do talk about some really cool dynamic stuff in the world so hopefully the general moment to moment open world stuff provides some more variety than the scripted stage demos.

Really hope they add some object motion blur though. The animation gaps are obvious without it and it stands out given the fidelity.

Hmm, yeeeeaaaaaah, I'm going to have to agree with the majority here. The combat just doesn't look to have that weight. That oomph. Devs need to fatten it up a bit and have it gain some weight. Tisk tisk, what a shame.

Seems like it needs some serious polish. The core of the game looks really good, and you can tell they're working with great tech, but loose melee, the guys foot clipping through the other guy's head, the framerate, etc. all bring it down.

It looks really rough compared to what's typical from Sony first party.

I am confused here the game is still in development of course not going to be polish at this stage :/

The combat does look rough, I don't know how people can't see how weighty Killzone 2, UC4 and TLOU are in comparison just going by gifs. A small thing like him not being ready with another axe slash after half a second would help.

Game looks like it's faaaaaarrrrrr off.

Gunplay looks pretty weak, as does the melee. Looks leagues behind in terms of combat compared to The Last of Us.

They should really double down on the survival aspects in an open world, because that's probably the most interesting part of the game I guess.

Still not sold on it Bend.

Best wishes.

Third person shooter/melee, story focused, stealth, zombies, extremely serious in tone, naturalistic setting.

There is really no interesting angle that I'm seeing here besides maybe fighting a bear. Everything they are doing here has been done before and better elsewhere. I don't mean to be harsh, but I've watched every single demonstration that has come out for this game and I continually remain bewildered why this game exists.

I'd love nothing more for this game to prove me wrong. Maybe they'll really lean into the biker angle to differentiate itself, who knows I guess.

So basically you take out all the unique aspects, list similarities and then insult them. lol.

At least try to not be so blatant.

I think people are a little too hung up on the tlou similarities. Through the open world the gameplay should be be quite different.

Some of those animations definitely could use some work though

I'll never understand why they greenlit this game and the rollout confuses me further.

If the game isn't incredible people will rate it far worse than it is and that's unfortunate. I hope it works out for Bend.

Stage demos werent scripted though, or at least not as much as people assume, since they've played both demos in different ways. For example, here driving into the wire wasn't scripted but a dynamic ambush that you can avoid and outflank.

Yep they explain this many times now, only thing that was scripted was the bear basically.

Wait what? What does this mean?

You know tons of people are actually hyped for this game right? People do think it looks good. Yea they gotta fix the pop in and stuff, but the game is slated for next year.

The open world nature, the crafting, the zombie aspect of it has people hyped.

I'm not saying it's going to sell 10 million, but I'm sure it's going to do very well for itself.

I watched this again and all I'm really seeing is a game that just needs some more polish. There's some pop in and weird hit detection. Aside from that everything looks great imo. And thankfully this game isn't launching this year. They got plenty of time to iron some things out.

New gaf logo should be a bubble

Well yeah, but Sony's first party titles typically look tightly polished even when initially revealed, if only that vertical slice.

I expect this game to come together quite nicely, and I hope they're given the time to do so.

I meant more in the sense that the developers walking us through stuff in specific ways is less interesting than it emerging organically through gameplay to an unsuspecting player. Impressions of people playing in the open world are what I'm waiting for.

I'm also really excited at the prospect of zombie animals. Hope to see more of that.

Well the Demo they showed on stage was polished to me. In these other videos they are clearly showing us different mechanics. They probably noticed exactly what we did and plan on polishing it up.

The weapons just don't look like they have punch? He shot a dude from like 7 feet away with a shotgun and the guy died but his death animation just didn't match getting hit by a shotgun.

This game really does bring out the worst of gaf. Can't wait for this game to silence haters just like Horizon did. Also, it's at least a year away from release. Might want to keep that in mind.

Probably my biggest concern is that the game hasn't showed a huge improvement between the last showing a year ago. Hopefully the rough edges are just the last thing Bend is going to focus on.

Open world, zombies, action, sony marketing behind it.....game is as easy as crap to market,,,gaf really is a bubble. Unless it is crappy it will do well.

Was really interested in this game after the reveal last year. While rough, it showed promise. Since then I've seen nothing to indicate it will live up to that promise. The bike is slow and looks like it has awful physics, gunplay still lacks feedback and it seems stealth requires nothing more than making noises that the dumb af AI will investigate like a trained pet. Off my radar until I see something that looks like more than hodpodge of other people's ideas.

This is so silly.

It does not matter what those ideas are its matter what they do with them.

Like 98% of games then? This post is silly, and hyperbolic....game is a year away, we haven't seen much yet. Show me a game where weather effects the gameplay with fast zombie hordes?

Weight is definitely something that can be appreciated by simply watching videos.

You can feel the weight of the gun when firing in Killzone 2 compared to the one in Call of Duty for example :

I need a new Killzone like 2. Such a great game and that gameplay was simply perfection.

Days Gone is looking amazing. The combat needs a little more time in the oven but it's getting there. Keep the good job Bend!

It'll be the same song and dance I can't think of too many AAA games where gaf jumped on a hate train for them and was right, than they release score well, sell well and ppl will be wondering how it was possible, some will eat their crow, others will give it a shot, others will still parrot same ol. One thing for something to not be to your liking but man too many of you take that and run way too far with it

Yes, it's silly to say that the post apocalyptic zombie game with crafting and "survival vision" isn't exactly the most original thing.

Yes, games borrow from each other, and make improvements in the process. Besides the crowd tech, what about this doesn't looking stunningly average, if not bad? I'm not interested in buying a tech demo, so the rest has to come together.

True...don't know why I bother...People still pop into Horizon threads acting like Far Cry invented bows, Crafting and maps lol.

This just sounds like fanboy persecution complex nonsense.
