Daytona USA announced by SEGA... sorta =)

I have a sinking feeling that this is a remake and not an arcade perfect port, just because some Japanese blogs are picking up and using the title of "New Daytona USA coming" but that's enough to make me worry. I simply want true Sega fans to finally get something they deserve, what they want, what they've been asking for for years!

I really wouldn't worry about that, IMHO.

please have Daytona 2 tracks, please SEGA!
If it's a remake with tracks from every game in the series, I'd be happy, too... as long as it's 60 FPS and that the cars look realistic, not like in the Dreamcast version.

I was with you until the realistic cars. Brightly colored classic Daytona USA cars, please.

As long as they look like the arcade, i'll be happy.

Sega Super GT next please!

They just need to release the Sega Mega Racing Collection containing Virtua Racing, Sega Rally 1 and 2, Daytona 1 and 2, Sega Touring Car Championship and Super GT.

Some of you people need to calm down. All these ridiculous expectations will only result in disappointment.

One problem, though: Sega's letting their license with Ferrari expire by the end of the year. (If you haven't downloaded OutRun Online Arcade, do so NOW.)

There's also EA's hold on the Porsche license, but EA and Sega have a business relationship now (Sega's going to distribute some EA titles in Japan- Need for Speed: The Run for sure, and I think Battlefield 3 and Shadows of the Damned, too), so that may not be a problem.

PSN Release is 25th of October.

Haha if this is true, then this is typical Sega marketing. Releasing a HOPEFULLY definitive version of one of your greatest franchises, the most successful arcade game of the 90s (if not, all time?!).... Better keep it a secret until 3 weeks before release! Wouldn't want any hype or excitement building up, people might buy it! Idiots.

I'm a huge Sega fan btw, but since the Saturn days their marketing 'ideas' just seriously piss me off. Its not even difficult, its just common fucking sense for a business to hype this up. This game was EVERYWHERE from 94 onwards for YEARS. Why are they sneaking it out, why such a big secret all this time?! This should have been announced as an E3 fucking mega-ton, not using a youtube video with a rabbit. Honestly, there are no words. There's many reasons Sega turned from gaming giant into a bit of a joke. Pathetic marketing errors is one of those reasons. Ridiculous

Dreams = Sega Mega Racing Collection containing Virtua Racing, Sega Rally 1 and 2, Daytona 1 and 2, Sega Touring Car Championship and Super GT.

Reality = Sega Mega Racing Collection containing Sega Rally Online Arcade, Crazy Taxi 1, a demo of Sega All-stars Racing and a trailer for Outrun Online Arcade.

I wouldn't hold my breath.

I predict Bart will have network online multiplayer support implemented into SuperModel and we'll be playing it online through that, *before* we see any official release of Super GT for consoles.

My breath is not being held. I just would really like to legitimately play it at home before I die, preferably without having to spend 10k on a machine.

EXACTLY!

I have $2.40 in my PSN account, and I just got a $20 PSN card. I'm banking $7 for Daytona (I'm a PS+ member, so I can get the 30% discount) and spending the other $15 on NBA Jam: On Fire Edition.

Bring on the '90s nostalgia!

I agree, Sega not only needs to release Daytona USA (Model 2 ver) and Daytona USA 2 (Model 3 version) plus versions of 1 & 2 with revamped shader-based graphics. That is my hope anyway ^_^

I have a feeling that if they hired a guy who spends his free time creating Model emulators that this project might get a bit more love than if Sega had done it themselves. That's my hope.

I've been dreaming of this for years. While we're at it, throw in Indy 500 and Manx TT.

Also, any release date for XBLA?

YES. I have the Saturn version of Manx, it was so awful compared to the arcade, though.

No release date yet, just a tease.

Seriously, Sega's arcade racers are some of the greatest and most beloved games in the history of the industry. The lack of home ports for most of them is an outright crime. Sell them through DD, sell a compilation disc, whatever - just get them out there. There's a whole generation of kids who never got to play them.

Unless Sega bought the rights back, this isn't actually going to be called Daytona USA. :(
I guess it was in another thread where someone pasted the fine print on Sega's sweepstakes page mentioning International Speedway Corp., soooo.... I know Sega Racing Classic was stripped, but things [can] change...

My gut feeling is that this is going to be a port of Sega Racing Classic, but with the Daytona USA title screen and the original music restored, with 8-player online multiplayer and (hopefully!) support for the G25/G27/Fanatec stick shift wheels.

I'm also hoping for a "Bladder of Steel" achievement/trophy where the player has to complete an 80-lap endurance race at Three Seven Speedway with a top three finish, WITHOUT PAUSING. Mua-ha-ha-ha-ha!

As long as I get the same Daytona I love, I'm happy (with smoother graphics, of course).

Also, SEGA, please make the gear mappable to the four face buttons. This is how I play on a pad. I like to shift from 4 to 1 instantly, and I can't do this if it is sequential via only two buttons.

Going back i n this thread a bit...

DAYTONAAAAAAAAAArgh!

Should travel to Daytona Beach one weekend to see if they have Daytona machines there.
The Daytona 500 Experience, on the grounds of the speedway, should have an 8-player deluxe setup of the game. It's been a while, though...

The big announcement is later today. Even though Forza Motorsport 4 is coming out tomorrow, I'm more excited for this, tbh.

just be wary about getting your hopes up. i vividly remember getting excited about an arcade port of sega rally 1 or 2 when they announced sega rally online arcade, which turned out to be the revo port :( it wasn't that bad of course but was really hoping for a model 2/3 game.
