DayZ has sold 3 million copies

Not if Lirik and 5hizzle are playing it. They bring in 60-70 thousand viewers.

Seem more like a stupid comment to me. Do you know why Variety streamers are called Variety streamers?

Edit: And what's foolish about a F2P mmo with the other hottest new PC survival genre made by the one of the biggest MMO companies being bigger than DotA 2?

H1Z1 will easily pass 1 million concurrent.

You're fanboying so hard. Chill out.

Also I'm not surprised by these sales. You would think that this would encourage the devs to actually spend more time developing and working on things, but you know. Several games are probably gonna steal its thunder before release.

yeah, I've been watching it quite a bit, it looks good

but viewing figures will go down

you are high if you think otherwise

You do realize that Lirik likes the game right? Who easily pulls 30-50k by himself.

SOE has been making games for over 15 years, they're not some small ass team with no money. They've also been pulling pretty crazy hours since EA to fix shit.

What are you talking about. I'm talking about DayZ since this is a DayZ thread.

dude lmao. aint no way it'll surpass dota 2 peak numbers

I think some of you guys are sleeping on H1Z1. It's more accessible than DayZ, will be free to play, and it's coming to PS4. I think H1Z1 is gonna be big.

As for DayZ, three million is certainly impressive. Gonna be interesting to see which of the seemingly many games in this genre that comes out on top.

Make melee combat good and stop the zombies walking through the walls and floor. That's all I have ever fucken asked for and they still can't fix it. Fuck you Rocket.

Didn`t The War Z sell like 2.8 million copies? I guess people will buy anything with zombies. State of Decay had no multiplayer at all, and also sold good.

Impressive number, Bohemia must be happy. I hope they manage to get it to a finished state where I will be able to enjoy it at 60fps without drops.

You heard it here first guys: Dota 2 ded game. Valve has already bought the H1Z1 team and hats are in the next Chinese New Year themed update.

Dat first page derail, damnnnn so much investment in twitch hahaha. I still haven't bought the stand alone Day Z pack, had lots of fun in Arma 2 with it but it just hasn't shown me anything to pull me back in.

I bought it too when it released last year, and I can wholeheartedly say I hate this game and everything it stands for so fucking much.

This game will never be finished, it will keep on being this janky, unoptimized garbage until it eventually fades into obscurity. But with 3+ million copies sold.

I wish some major media outlet would crack down on this a bit harder.

You are part of the problem. I've been tempted to get it, but I refuse to buy games in alpha stage.

This thread is amazing. I never knew that I should like a game based on it's popularity, and that it's popularity is based on the number of people streaming it, rather than concurrent users, or WW players. It seems their nationality also plays a part.

This has been enlightening to say the least!

OT, Need to get back into DayZ, not played it since they added vehicles and cannibalism.

Too bad since H1Z1 has blown up to be more popular than DotA 2 now.
The what now? Not sure if serious...
I hate to admit it, but Hearthstone is definitely past DotA 2. No disputing that..

(Dota 2 has more 20 times the player base than H1Z1).

I doubt anyone knew that one year after release zombies would still glitch through walls and the game's engine would still run at sub-20 fps in cities.

I bought the game because I believed in the devs and their ability to turn it into something good. I don't tend to regret game purchasing decisions, but DayZ is definately the exception. Never again.

To be honest, H1Z1 already looks more fun to play. Mainly because it seems to run well and isn't built on a piece of shit engine. Hits actually register and the world isn't completely broken.

I'm now looking forward to H1Z1 to fulfill my zombie game needs. It'll probably happen before DayZ.

Congrats to the DayZ team though. Really impressive numbers.

Is DayZ still a barely playable piece of crap? That was the first and last time I ever bought an early access game.

I bought DayZ.

Installed it, played for 6 hours, experienced the most glitchy, slow ass, zombie experience I've ever experienced.

Never played it after.

EDIT: I'll take a look at what all this H1Z1 is about.

Anyone who knows ARMA or say the engine kind of knew that.

Yes. The developers work at the pace of a snail, in a year all they've really fixed are trivialities. H1Z1 has had more meaningful fixes in 3 days than Day Z has ever had, and it runs way better.

You know one year of development for a game of this size wouldn't=a perfectly polished experience right? There's a reason it's still referred to as an alpha. I'd wager that getting something of this size to be pretty polished and running with minimal framerate drops would probably take a few years.

DayZ is was my first and last Early Acces game. It's like Dean Hall stole 30€ from me, because I doubt it will ever be playable.

Who the hell is saying this?

Hell no. With the amount of money they're making, 1 year should have been plenty of time with the established base just to get it playable. The performance is staggeringly horrible and everything is janky beyond belief. They need to hire more developers.

Why is a game that looks like it's still in alpha-state selling that may copies? At least from the videos it looks really bad and pretty much non-functional.
