DayZ - zombie apocalypse online FFA permadeath survival Arma II mod

I would just like to say, I have never met a single friendly person in this game. Everyone is an asshole. I try to shoot some zombies while a guy is bandaging himself up? He kills me as soon as he's done. I walk into a room that is all glitched out and cant see anything? Dude hacks me up with an axe for no apparent reason. I survive an all out zombie apocalypse with 900 blood and run into a farmfield to start a fire and cook some steak? Get sniped from a deer stand.

Why does everyone hate me?

It's not worth trusting people in this game so don't bother.

Besides, killing survivors is much more fun than killing zombies.

Dumbass hacker teleported everybody on the server I was on up into the air, we all fell and died, losing everything. I'd just picked up an L85 and 5 extra mags for my Camo SVD. Think I'm going to take a break from DayZ.

Maybe a stupid question but, how do I manage servers, such as view history, add a server as favorite, etc. I'm using the built-in in-game browser.

One of my friends in our little group of survivors has this really annoying habit of alerting people we are around. If we know there are other people around from outside our group, we usually just get down and sneak around to avoid any confrontation, since we don't really like just killing people randomly or get killed either.

But so this guy always goes "Well we should find out if they are friendly or not" and before we can advice him to keep shut, he opens the mic channel and goes "friendly friendly friendly friendly friendly". Bullets everywhere, and we gotta Zulu that shit and charge them head on, hoping we will survive.

I have never heard this saying in all my short years.

This military body artifacting needs to be fixed ASAP. I was just with ItAintEasy at Northwest Airfield, he ran toward the firestation, had no trouble, when I followed, there were apparently 50 zombies in there, which all surrounded me, broke my bones, and killed me. ItAintEasy couldn't get to me, because he couldn't see anything. I couldn't see the whole time.

The GAF camp is safe...maybe not

Playing at night is good to me. Hit up the deer stands in Balota and got an AKM + 3 mags, immediately found an ATV right outside with 3/4 fuel and went for a spin. Someone is going to be unhappy. :<

The most entertaining part of this whole video for me was just listening to my own voice. It sounds so much different in my head.

That's why I don't talk much when I know people are recording. I have always thought I sounded way different online than I do in person.

How long til the hotfix that fixes this military body artifacting bullshit comes in? I'm considering just not playing until then. It's absolute bullshit that the best loot spawns are practically off limits because you can't see a damn thing.

not to mention my hilarious bug.

It was the most bizarre experience ever.

1. Knock another player running on opposite direction (collision)
2. Get pushed towards the barbed wire.
3. Get unconscious. Teletransport to debug map. Die.

I'm thinking that the barbed wire overload is not a good idea anymore xD

Barbed wire needs some serious changes. Either more ways to get rid of it, or just remove it altogether. It's useful for stuff like making the GAF camp, but really people just use it for bullshit like blocking one-entry buildings.

Just point your cursor at top of middle post if you have a toolbox.

Unless they put down a double strand of wire you can just vault it and keep on going, in my experience, if you don't have a toolbox or the inclination to remove it.

Vaulting it only works half the time. It's extremely janky.

I've had such good luck this spawn.

I spawned at Otmel and made my way towards elektro through the woods. I found a tent in some trees just outside elektro with NVGs a coyote backpack and an M1911 with 5 clips. While rummaging through the tent I heard powerful shots coming from the mountain NE of elektro. I approached the mountain from the north east, spotted the prone gunner, snuck up behind him and emptied an entire M1911 clip in his head. He had a Mk48 with 4 boxes of ammo.

Skip forward a few hours and I'm in the forest west of Zelenogorsk scoping out the shop with my binocs, I'm running low on food. All of a sudden I start to hear footsteps, people running, I turn to where the sound is coming from and there's two ghillied up dudes about 5m in front of me running west, they hadn't spotted me thanks to my own ghillie suit. Without a second thought I open fire with my Mk48. The guy leading goes down straight away, but his friend went prone, becoming invisible amongst the grass. I fired my LMG into the foliage like Rambo for 10 or 15 seconds, but the guy had disconnected.

The guy I did kill had an AS50 with 9 M107 clips, a GPS and a range finder.

Welp ran around the whole map just a bit ago. No one on but gaffers...lost my life to a door. Just feel asleep and zombies ate me. Sometimes when shit like this goes down I dont know how to feel about the game. What should I learn from this? Doors are evil? Ugh, oh well just another gear run tomorrow(later today) and Ill be back up and running.

Also IMACOMPUTA is jinxed, thats all im saying.

This game needs less guns. Stories like this make me sad. I remember when getting an AK47 was a big deal. Now you have to have NVGs, GPS, AS50, M4 CCO SD and some other high tier gun for it to be "useful".

I don't agree.
The story begins with him getting the best LMG by killing the guy who had it with his 1911.

People think they need the best guns to do stuff when they really don't. Awareness, teamwork, experience and even luck are all more important than your gear.

I need me a good gun. Can't complain since me and my friend were killed as we spawned into a server and lost about 3 hours progress. We have guns again now though. Just need better supplies.

Yeah, you haven't been picked off by an AS50 yet. There's just no reason for the volume I've been seeing people post pictures of how they were "lucky" and got all kitted out with ridiculous shit. It's a zombie apocalypse based in a fictional Russian country not the headquarters for the NRA.

When you consider how few survivors there are there *would* be lots of guns for everybody. You can see dead military forces all over the map, I doubt they were shipped in equipped with Airsoft.

I think there should be more guns, not less. I like the variety and setup mini-quests for myself to gear up a certain way, in a certain timeframe, and then use it effectively in PvP.

Get rid of most of the guns and you'll get rid of most of my fun.

Picked up a CZ550 the other day and have reached a new high of 3 player kills (up from 0).

Two of the three came from point blank range though, only one of them was really a "murder" since the other two had killed or were aiming to kill a buddy of mine.

The only real sniper kill I got was on one of those douchebag ghillie suit snipers who hang around Elektro/Cherno shooting naked survivors. I felt good about that one.

EDIT: I think for fun the military zombies at the airbases should carry guns that randomly go off.

There's 100 more spawns before that one where I found nothing more than a Lee Enfield and was shot 30 minutes after spawning. In total I've gotten my hands on 5 rare guns in the 200 hours I've played, 2 of them I have now.

Besides, I don't like having all this gear, I much prefer to play the game socially with strangers rather than killing everyone on sight, though the 2 super kitted up guys I shot in a yellow car driving through Zelenogorsk was extremely satisfying (AS50 needs nerfing)

I'll get bored of having all this shit soon enough at which point I'll perch myself on the tallest building in Cherno and shoot everyone I see until I finally get taken out.

There's something wrong with some servers. Tents get looted and after a restart they're full again. We're currently sitting on at least 6 AS50's and 4 L85's plus a shitload of kit like rangefinders and NVG's

Totally disagree.

For a start - yes - there would be a considerable amount of ammo, but after a length of time it would become more and more sparse.

As for fun - again I totally disagree, the fun I've had is having no gun and trying to find something - anything - to protect myself. Then some idiot shoots me for no good reason. Where's the fun in that?

What is with all this distrust from strangers. The (admittedly low) number of people I have met have always been friendly.

The first guy I met whilst being chased by zombies. He saved me by axing them up and then followed me around acting as my protector. He gave me a water bottle but I eventually died due to zombie related issues.

The second person I met was in a house. I had previously disconnected whilst in a house and when I reconnected I was crouching behind a guy who had a chemlight out. I scared him a bit and then we started talking about the zombie apocalypse and how the house was surrounded by zombies and how he was slowly dying and no way making it out of this alive. So this kind soul gave me his stuff, which included a pistol, ammo, beans, hatchet amongst other things and told me to finish him off so he could start a new life far away from this hell. Holding back tears I reassured him I would tell his name to the world (I have already forgotten it), and speed his journey from this world to the next.

Later on in the same life I had found a bicycle and rode it into a barn. I climbed the stairs, noticed a hatchet and went to leave as I already had one, slipped and fell down one flight of stairs breaking both my legs. It was at this time that another player ran around the corner into the barn followed by 5 or so zombies. I told him to retrieve the hatchet from the top floor whilst doing what I could downstairs. The zombies were finally dispatched but I was at 200 or so blood and was a goner. I gave this new player all my stuff (which admittedly was fairly basic, none of these fancy automatic weapons.) and I told him where I parked my bike. Thanking me, he headed off towards the direction of the bike and promptly got ambushed by zombies which killed him fairly quickly. After a brief moment to recollect myself I crawled towards the bike only to learn that it is indeed possible to ride a bike with broken legs. And that is what I did...

I seem to have lost track of what I was trying to say there... I'm sure I had a moral in there somewhere. Something something... love thy neighbour.

Crazy naked guy in a clock tower. Happens to the best of us when we reach our breaking (boredom) point.

I had someone on the GAF server chase me around a big rock outside Cherno with a crossbow. I had nothing at the time.

Was quite funny. Thank you for not plugging me when I stopped moving, but I could barely hear your mic.

I think this and loot farming/server hopping are the biggest problems. I don't really think there are too many guns otherwise. If I am hitting the normal loot spots I generally don't find insane amounts of munitions (excluding NW and downed choppers). Enough to arm myself sure, but not a surplus by any means.

Anyone on the GAF server want to group up? Currently in Cherno. Also, I left an MP5 with 4 mags in Cherno's church beside the altar, help yourself.

EDIT: Huh....so, going into my inventory near the edge of a roof is a bad idea. I just fell off the factory in Cherno.Good thing I know where there's an MP5 up for grabs!

EDIT 2: Body unlooted! I have everything back!

Ammo is pretty low on the tech tree, just need a reloading station, brass, and the raw ingredients to make your own powder. You're not going to be able to turn out match grade cartridges but you'll be able to do it if you have a basic grasp of chemistry and can loot a library. ;)

So you want to find gear to protect yourself but you don't want to have to protect yourself from anybody? Doesn't make much sense to me. The only "gear" you need to protect yourself from zombies is a brain+shank's mare.

I was on Day 11 on my last character without getting shot by anybody. He was fully geared and then got teleport-killed by a hacker last night. Again, surviving against zombies is easy, surviving against players a little harder but even with 11 days on that character I only had 6 murders and I probably could have just run away from 4 of them. Only 2 were face-offs where it was him or I and both of those times I was looting high value targets that were not critical path for survival.

Surviving against other players is where the fun is, where the challenge is. The braindead AI in the zombies can be found in lots of other games but open world PvP like this is very, very rare.

Damn, hit me with an invite when you see me. I need good guns badly.

it would be nice if they remove the thermal vision rifle. It simply doesn't fit. No matter how good you sneak, you cant get around that. And there's snipers that use it for target locating, then switch to a real sniper rifle and kill the person.

Or at least remove it until the duping ceases to exist.

Fully agree

Met my first friendly player! I was in a barn and grabbed an axe, then heard a voice over the mic. I typed "friendly" and he started coming towards me, but then zombies rushed him and he took off. I chased them out, hacked them down with my new axe but he kept running, and I thought I had lost him. Made my way into Cherno where I had died earlier, grabbed my Lee Enfield off my corpse and proceeded to the top of the hospital where I promptly started unloading 5 mags into the zombie horde so that I could dump the Lee and open up some space in my bag which was currently full of a shotgun and ammo. Saw a guy crawling through the soccer field behind the hospital while I had like 40 zombies piled up below me, turns out it was my buddy from before! I killed off the last of the horde, we stocked him up with medical supplies and he said "thanks, off to see my friends up north. Later." I followed him, and then he aggroed a couple zombies in a field. I tried to shoot one (may have hit him, not sure), and he took off running. I chased him, and we stood down a horde in the woods. I died, not sure what happened to him, but when I respawned I ran back to my body and everything was still there. Farewell mysterious stranger. I apologize if I shot you, it was entirely unintentional.

Yikes, got shot by a sniper on the gaf server today in somekind of tower where I was looking for some food in order to finally get my blood back up. Well, at least I have colors again now.

When respawning I had to run around for half an hour to finally find a town where I was able to pick up a crossbow. Will be a long way to get all my equipment back...

Does anybody else know about the combine infinite ammo glitch (I'm going to assume yes, since I'm sure somebody else found this long before I did...)

If you have an M1911 or Revolver, you can change the ammo from one type to the other as long as there's still one bullet in the clip, and then change it back to refill your original type.

ie I have an M1911 mag with 2 bullets left. I reload, getting a full clip, and my 2 mag clip is now in my backpack. Open the inventory, right click on the 2 bullet magazine and convert it to revolver ammo. Then convert it back to M1911 ammo. Boom! Infinite pistol ammo. I just killed like 40 zombies with 3 clips of ammo, just cycling them over and over. Also works if you have an 8 round shotgun clip and you break it into 4 2 round clips (ie 3 rounds left in the 8, break it into 4 2's, then convert back to an 8).
