DayZ - zombie apocalypse online FFA permadeath survival Arma II mod

... I GUESS I could spend 30 bucks buying Combined Operations now and, on the Summer Sale, if i'm still playing, I could buy the expansions (both PMC and BAF) for 5 bucks a pop.. That doesn't sound so bad..

hmmmm.....

What would buying PMC and X add to the Day Z experience if all I have is the CO bundle installed? I didn't even know there was more content outside of the CO bundle.

Even if you don't like DayZ, there is a lot of "game" in Arma 2 and OA.

If you're not bothered by the blurry, almost textureless survivor models then not much. I don't think the mod is using any pmc guns atm.

A bunch of textures are improved if you have the PMC DLC. Mostly the survivor skins and Guns.

A couple more textures are improved if you have the BAF DLC. I'm not 100% sure which textures are those.

ArmA X is just a compilation of ArmA I and it's DLC (which is not used on the mod) and ArmA II and all of the DLCs (Operation Arrowhead, which is contained in Combined Operations, PAC and BAF).

PMC will just give you higher resolution textures for a few characters and maybe a few guns in DayZ. X won't give you anything that wouldn't be cheaper individually if you already bought CO except for Arma 1.

Reached #1 in New Zealand this week as well. (And yes those are USD prices for games in NZ)

The Arma II MP is outstanding once you get it. Better than any other open map MP game. It's much deeper though which is what makes it unique.

#1 on steam?! Rocket better get one helluva bonus for this!

Love this game!!

GAF group, are we surviving tonight?!

I'll be on soon.

On a separate note - Tried Bandicamp but couldn't get other peoples mics to come in on the recordings. Is there another similar app that does all in 1 recording of game/chat?

Sorry about the lack of non recorded voice but I just basically hit record on fraps. This wasn't a planned record session.

This is the culmination of a long, long journey with Broken/Irish just to meet up with gaffers in Grishino. Yes, I know it's dark and I had the gamma adjusted but even with that, the area was as you see. The sounds are enough to give you the impression of panic though. You could imagine how much more scarier it would be without mics so having comms is a must. All from 1.5.7 version of DayZ. The following ensued.

PART 1 of Operation GAF FAIL :P

P.S. Thanks again Oatmeal. Our light and beacon :P

Part 2 in an hour.

Look at how long we were standing there doing fuck all. Damn.

Bandicam and did you check the record setting, that's where you pick secondary sources, so you obviously need to pick the channel where the voice is coming from.

man you guys get combined ops for cheap in the US. £25 here, whilst not too bad, isn't exactly a bite for me yet :<

I did but the voices are very, very faint. I know exactly what you mean though as I looked all this up on google already. I'm at a loss.

So this suddenly popped up in my head: Z is the 26th letter of the alphabet. Anyone survived for 26 days yet?

(Rocket, write this shit down)

Holy shit there are a lot more zombies suddenly. I went to check out a group of houses, found some useful gear for the first time. Went into a house to try and kill the ten or so that were on me as they filtered through the door. Worked fine, kept going house to house. I must have had 30 zombies stuck trying to get around a kitchen table to feast on me. I was out of ammo and they couldn't get to me. I just quit, we'll see what happens when I log on tonight.

I expect a swift death. I have still never seen anyone else.

How awesome would it be if the choppers had searchlights that could be manned for aerial spotlight action, while the ground team raids towns?

I wonder what this game is gonna be like when it gets to beta in the summer...

I'm pretty sure a passenger can just use a torch. I witnessed a helicopter patrolling elektro with a light beaming down. Probably bandits looking for survivors excited by it's presence :)

Shit, never thought of that. Does the torch light dim over distances? I wouldn't know because i haven't found a torch yet :(

Also that's not Steam-registrable, also doesn't have the Original ArmA II, so you're stuck with the Shitty Muddy textures from ArmA II free.

Where can you buy a Steam redeemable copy of it outside of Steam? Already got Arma2 for free from them a while back so it wouldn't be worth rebuying.

Should say 16 and change at checkout.

Nope, maybe it's different because I'm in the US.

Subtotal: $ 19.99
Tax Total: $ 0.00
Total: $ 19.99

The torch on the pistol is bloody bright so as long as the chopper isn't too high I'd say it's a safe bet you'd be able to see a decent spot on the ground.

Odd, was 16 for me a week ago. Still, you must buy!

It's still daylight in a lot of european countries?

The default server setting is supposed to follow the server clock ingame. Some servers have accelerated time though...

No, they have set the time so people can play the game in daylight when they actually have time to play the game.

How do you exactly repair a car with a toolbox, and what does it actually repair? Engine, transmission?
To repair a vehicle, you also need the parts. For example, if you're fixing a car, there are four points of repair: hull, fuel, engine, and wheels. You'll need scrap metal, fuel tank parts, engine parts, and car tires, respectively and to repair you just use the scroll-wheel context menu and it'll pop up there.
