1) How come I don't spawn with a gun anymore?

2) How come the lean function doesn't work? Hitting Q or E does nothing (and yes, the keys are assigned in the options menu.)

I swear, this game is great when it works, but it's been so inconsistent for me ever since release, especially in terms of performance.

Wow did I just get lucky.

The character that got pretty much killed by the glitch, finally got fed up and suicided. Spawned first inside a building/wall in Novy Sober so I had to suicide again, manged to spawn very close to my first body.

Managed to get back most of my stuff.

Couldn't get my camo clothes though and I lost a can of beans somewhere too

The starting items have changes, and leaning only works with a weapon.

The gun at spawn was removed (in patch 1.7.1.2 I think...)

Q/E Lean seem to only work when you have a gun equipped and up. I can't seem to lean without one.

Have no clue where I am but what can I say is that I'm holing up with a shotty in a hay shed that is on the bottom of a giant hill. Has a road running along the front and there is a gigantic red weather vane perhaps at the very top of the hill. Hopefully someone can figure out where I might be. Might try dragging myself to the town down the road for more supplies. My name in game is Reptar

You wont believe this, but the exact same thing happened to me just now. I was crawling under a wall when I got horribly eaten by zombies. Luckily I spawned nearby and grabbed my stuff. Couldnt take screenshot because I don't know how. Thank you based AI.

Well I'm playing from France, usually my ping is roughly 150-170 (i'm in the far countryside so maybe a good city would have less), sometimes it goes up but i'm not kicked unless the server is heavily populated (only happened last weekend, had horrible ping and constant disconnect). Still haven't met any player so can't tell if lag has an influence or not.

Exit the game a rejoin and look on the bottom right and it will tell you where you are at.

disconnect and reconnect and see what it says for your location in the bottom right, I do it all the time to help get my general bearings

I murdered someone, I feel bad . I was in the control tower at the NW Airfield putting stuff in my new backpack, I just finished up when someone fired a sniper rifle at me. I went prone and made my way down to the first floor and hid under the stairs. I waited for a few minutes and someone came running at the door, I rolled out from under the stairs. Thinking this was the person who just tried to blow my head off I emptied an entire clip of my m16 into this person and then the stat thing said I murdered them, so either I killed the wrong person or they just messed up their first try at attempted murder. Not sure what their name was because two people died in quick succession, it was either something that started with a D (Daniel)(sp?) or something like that or it was Spirit. If it was one of you guys I'm sorry.

Unless it really was you who tried to kill me, then I'm glad your dead.

Best life yet, made it to the NW airfield for the first time and even got NVG only to be sniped to death a minute and a half later.

Spawned in Cherno. Got many medical supplies and a crowbar. Decided to be a doctor. Posted in global chat(working on that server) "I'm a doctor, who needs a transfusion? no weapon so please don't kill me". 5 minutes later someone shoots me. Same person chats after checking my loot "you werent lying sorry lol, wanna give me a transfusion now?".

Spawned in Krutoy Cap, currently in Solnichniy, if anyone needs help lemme know.

I thought it was 31 minutes? Any average across all players would be highly warped by people respawning several times in a row to get a good spawnpoint, anyway.

GAF-Crew just got murked in the north.

Me and Mik were cruising towards Petrovka in the NW area with Mik's truck. There is nothing there so we begin to take off, but suddenly I hear the engine of another vehicle. I thought it was an ATV at first but it turned out to just be a motorbike. Mik is AFK at the time so in panic I just drive off the side of the road to try and get away. Mik comes back and we decide to stop pretty far away. Mik steps out and crouches near a bush and he is instantly sniped from at least 700m away with 1 shot.

I take off in the truck and am now engaged in a high speed chase trying to get away from the bandits following me. I get on the road and try to head east back to Gvozdno where we originally came from. My gas is getting low and im blindly trying to make my way back without time to stop and look at my map. I eventually run out of gas in an area semi close to the other members of the gaf crew. I get out of the truck and pop the tires so if the bandits kill me they can't immediately take off with it plus no fuel. Sadly, 1 shot and I die.

But then we have BSTF and Docbon closing in on my old position where I died. Before you know it BSTF gets taken out and then Docbon follows soon after. All dead in 1 shot

Lagging behind par usual we have Wedge nearing the position of our deaths. Unfortunately he legs are broken so he is forced into crawling through the thick woods. Out of nowhere he yells he is dead in 1 shot.

5 Gaf crew members down and one lost truck in the span of 15 minutes

Didn't know you were still playing and didn't want to get too excited before I actually have it. Arma series isn't close to my heart or anything but the mod just sounds fun with friends so if I can find it at good price I want to get it.

It's not this game, it's the Arma core mechanics, and yes, it's not intuitive at all, but honestly if you give it enough time, even with all the jank it feels like second nature.

Yeah I get that and even with the jank this game is worth it. Never seen anything like this. I would love to see something like this done in more mordern game.

no, text chat is only visible to people within a certain range.

Make the first tutorials before jumping into the mod, to get used to the controls.

edit: As long as your mumble key and ingame chat key(default is CAPS LOCK for Arma II) are different you can do both no problem.

Mumble is like Teamspeak/Voip that gives you an ingame overlay so you can see who is talking. Voice clarity is awesome, and the service itself is free as long as there is a host service. DayZ GAF has a dedicated mumble server that you can jump in at any time. Essentially, just d/l the mumble client and then pm me or someone can post the mumble info in an tag and you can voice chat with a great group of super fun time awesome peoples. Also, if someone would like a Mumble channel added so that you can have a more "personal" experience with you and fellow gaf(GAF only, we don't have nonGaf on our mumble for the most part to avoid stalking that we've had in the past) just PM me or Nix and we can add one for you.
