DayZ - zombie apocalypse online FFA permadeath survival Arma II mod

Buddy and me have been quite effective as a sniper and spotter team. This is his view at night.:P

Aha! So you are still playing this! I thought you had stopped. :P

Took me so long to find a nice ass gun, some bandages and plenty of ammo. I was fighting off some zombies when I heard shots from out nowhere, couldnt see the guy at all and died...:( FUCK

Just tried to log into GAF and it killed me and put me in the middle of a field with a seemingly a few other people standing around. Seems like this is a bug but I'm not sure. Has anyone ever encountered something like this?

Edit: Re-logged in and now I have all my stuff and am in the place I was when I logged out. Guess that fixed it =)

I just found someones base of like 10 tents in the middle of nowhere lol. Surviving with 300 blood paid off. I have an approximate location of it for future use.

Going to be joining GAF DayZ mumble at around 9:30-10 est. I need blood badly. And a pistol if someone has one. I'm sitting right off of that dirt road going south in Stary. If we need to raid the military camp then so be it. I will verbally inform you guys of this when I'm on in about 1:30.

Maybe we can find an Alice pack and pistol for my friend too.

Oh man, found a ghillie suit in a random residential building in Chernogorsk, proceeded to die when I got to Elektro... Spawned in Drakon, I was able to get back to my body and get all my gear back, but because I was wearing the ghillie suit, it's gone. :(

Still having issues seeing all servers.

I'm having to type the name into 6 launcher and hope that after several minutes it pops up. Still can't see GAF server.

Also, whenever I verify ArmA2 and OA files in Steam I always get one file in each game as having to be redownloaded.

This. I haven't played in a few days because I keep on updating six launcher, but can't find the effing server. The one time I did find the server, it was full.

Asked some of the guys from Mumble, but didn't get an answer back, at least yesterday when I asked.

Just heard they were doing a 48 hour marathon or something.

six launcher made the gaf server invisible for me too. i fixed it by downloaded the mod files from the torrent, reinstalling the latest beta patch and manually updating battleye.

Got mad graphical glitches on the GAF Server after a few deaths, lets check if thats on other servers too now mhm.

I'm having the same problem, it looks like my video card is about to explode.

So I spawned and there was a bay in between me and the town, so I'm like fuck it and starting swimming, 20 minutes later I arrived trembling so bad and freezing apparently, I can't move, I'm going to die now right? LOL

From what I can tell they really have their own agenda going and if you don't fit into it then o well.

One of the reasons I've mostly just stuck with a smaller group.

I appreciate their help, specially worms one and the group from cherno that was caring enough to make sure I could meet em. We sure moved our asses nearly 4 towns away for certain people though. I think it's always the best to pick everyone you can and do an objective together. The first shot I took at the enemy base was right next to one of the gaffers with a better weapon. If I hadn't taken that shot, he would have, and I think he played an important paper right there.

Guess I just got tired from going one place to another being threatened to death at every attempt to pick something worth for the fight and dying because of it (kill a sniper, another one gets you). And from three hours of playing I just got one meeting at cherno where we died shortly after :/

Not that I care about dying. It's dying alone what I don't like. I like to fight for the cause. So I guess i'll try to go my own way and when our paths converge i'll group. Felt bad to try and reach for GAF base without a map, find a CZ-550 on a barn and get killed 30 seconds later by two guys who "Put me out of my misery" kindly, lol.

PS: I mean about going my way that i'll try to get good weaponry instead of trying to rush the closest barn or fire station for a semi-good weapon with too many risks before trying to group. You guys seem to easily get re-armed. I don't seem to be able to, lol.

If your still need a blood transfusion i can come help

still in need. i noticed you died :( i am currently north west of the city probably north of cherno, for some reason every time i kill an animal it doesn't let me take the meat...super low on health lol.

it may be a stupid question but... do you have the hunting knife? If you do, have you tried dropping it and taking it again?

The graphic glitch introduced in the last patch has made this unplayable and I was having a blast :(

Made my way lone wolf from the GAF camp and got totally lost.
Found a small town, aggroed some zeds and ended up dying from
thirst and the zed attack. :/

Ok what exactly am I doing wrong with the map. When I open
it, does it show your current location? It doesn't seem like it. I
presume you need a gps to properly navigate it, correct?

Still don't like the removal of bandit skins. Too bad Rocket
can't make it a server option to enable the skins or not. There
just seemed to be so much more cooperation when they were in.
Plus alot of people actually like the bandit role. Not that there isn't
now but whatever.

Still a great game/mod though!

No it doesnt start out on your location. Your best bet is to find a town/land mark and use that to tell where you are on the map. You can also shift click a waypoint on the map that you think is close and know exactly where you are.

These graphic glitches are awful :/

Also someone was on mumble last night furiously masturbating and the mic was picking it up.

Not gona say who but man.. turn off ur mic when u do that.

My character has been almost dead a few times, lost her backpack and was slowly dying of hunger. I went to Stary to look for, well, most anything and stupidly got hit by yet another zombie, bringing me down to under 4K health. My vision was swimming and greyscale and it was almost impossible to see. I would have killed myself but I had killed the zombie attacking me and didn't know how to easily off myself so I logged out.

Go back, vision has stopped zooming in and out (though it's still basically black and white) so I figure why not and crawl into Stary. No idea where the store is but I crawl towards the church and luck out, it's next door. No pack in the store but some canned goods so I eat everything, get my blood over 5K and find a map for the first time. Emboldened with the minor success, I work my way around town and find the army camp, loot some tents and find an AKM to replace my Winchester 1866 (which I kinda loved but was almost out of ammo for) and a PDW. Now I feel like I have something to lose, so I leave Stary and hit up some deer stands outside of town. Kill a boar and a sheep, go back to the store in town and woo-fucking-hoo find both a Czech backpack and some fucking matches.

Go to some woods, eventually figure out how to get wood and make a fire to cook the meat and eat everything. Get my blood up over 11K and holy shit, there's like colours and stuff again. To celebrate I go to the store AGAIN and get an ALICE back as a slight upgrade to my Czech, throw an Enfield in the pack as a spare gun and leave feeling baller as fuck. Now if only I could find a damn compass.

Tl:dr - almost died, didn't, wandered half dead for hours actually healed up solo and got almost all the gear I feel I need to survive so now naturally the thought of my character dying fills me with dread

Lol. I was not completely sure he did that, but i muted him fast in any case ^^

Most boring day for me in dayz... ran from the south to the north two times completely alone just to get killed when i finally got there.

At least i found the flatbed, but its probably stolen since i just temporarily parked it near the road :/

Oh well

Had to be someone with push-to-talk disabled, unless they were mashing the keys with their meat javelin.

I arrived in the Mumble room to find out that the GAF base had been compromised by stream snipers. Our vehicles were all gone, including two busses and a UAZ. The party bus was gone, but whether it is alive, who knows. If it is dead, we must give it a hero's funeral.

I logged in at first on a different server, to get on the hill east of the GAF base. I had an M14, so I could look the direction of the GAF base and try to snipe the invaders. I got back on the GAF server, scanned the base hill carefully, but found no one. I began to make my way that direction for a closer look. Suddenly, I had been shot and was bleeding! I heard the sound come from my left, and it was a rapid-firing gun. There was a player right there, and he shot me again, knocking me unconscious, and again, killing me. I was dead, losing all the great loot I had accumulated over the last few days.

I tried for a few lives to get a good start again, but had died to either gunshots or zombie aggro. Finally, in one life I spawned in Kamenka, and began to make my way to Cherno. Shortly after arriving in Cherno, there was a message that the server would be restarted in three minutes. This was my perfect opportunity. After searching one of the apartment buildings across from the hospital and finding nothing, it was almost time for the restart, so I logged out.

After the restart, I searched the other two apartment buildings. There was a revolver, and some ammo for it. It was not great, but it would do temporarily. I broke into the hospital and stocked up on medical supplies. I then made my way deeper into the city of Cherno. Now was the perfect time to loot the place, as the server was freshly restarted, loot would be spawning in it's usual places, and there were fewer players to worry about than usual. I searched many of the two-story buildings in Cherno, and in one of them, I found it: A Ghillie suit! In a military tent, I discovered an AKS-74 KOBRA, as well as plenty of other useful loot, such as a compass and watch. Already, I was doing pretty well. I was talking to Wedge on Mumble, and he was near Cherno too, so we decided to meet up at the military tents. I headed back that direction, and was on the road leading to the gate, and heard gunshots coming from behind me. I looked around and could not see the guy, however I saw bullets pinging the ground in front of me. At this point I was right in front of the gate, so I went in and went prone in a bush. I was in a Ghillie Suit, so seeing me was pretty difficult this way. I did not hear the player following me, nor did I hear gunshots. He had obviously given up. I told Wedge where I was located. It took him a second to spot me, but he knew to look for a Ghillie Suit. He spotted a player climbing the ladder across the street. I zoomed in on him and noticed that he was unarmed and had the basic patrol pack. We decided to talk to him instead of shooting him. He got to the bottom of the ladder and we were both waiting for him, and he said "I only have a hatchet, please don't shoot me, I won't do anything." I told him "We won't shoot you, just run man." "Thank you so much, do you mind if I run around this wall you guys are standing by?", he asked. "Go ahead," I replied. He thanked me, and we parted ways.

Wedge and I ran back to the military tents to stock up on medical supplies for the both of us. Wedge gave me a much-needed blood transfusion as well. We then decided we were both decently armed now, and should get out of Cherno before things get hairy. Stary Sobor would be our next destination, as most likely not many players had ventured here since the server restart, and the loot would be fresh. The treeline north of Cherno was where we ran to next. On the way to the treeline, Wedge mentioned he picked up an extra map. We stopped after we got the zombies off of our tails, and I took the map out of his pack. Using that and my compass, I set a waypoint for Stary Sobor, and we ran straight there. On the way we had to take a slight detour, as we would have been going straight through Zub Castle, which we weren't sure how dangerous that might be. Finally, we made it to the south end of Stary Sobor. ZenVolta mentioned he was already there, and was in a treeline to the north of it. He then said he saw a player close to him. After a few seconds of silence, ZenVolta killed the player. Wedge had to disconnect for the night, so I pressed onward. I went into the barn to get a vantage point and look for ZenVolta, but could not see him. ZenVolta described his location to me, and I had a vague idea of where it was. He said he could see me running in the open field at one point, so I knew I was on the right track. I got there, and he told me where the body was of the player he killed. ZenVolta was already satisfied with the loot that he had, where he didn't particularly need any of it, but he said there was some great stuff on the guy.

I looked at his loot. He had an ALICE pack, a definite upgrade from my patrol pack, an M107, a perfect sniper rifle to complement my Ghillie Suit (which Wedge and ZenVolta both had trouble seeing me in, despite me walking straight toward them). There was also a M9SD, which would go great with my Ghillie Suit. The only problem was it had no ammunition, but I decided to keep it anyway. In the pack there was an FN FAL, which I took and stashed in my new ALICE pack. Both the M107 and the FN FAL had plenty of ammunition. There was also a GPS, which was the first time I had ever had one of those. The only thing other than the M9SD rounds that I really needed to make it perfect would be a range finder. However, I looked up how to use the mildots on the M107's scope, and plan to put that to use tomorrow. I played around a bit with zeroing the M107 on zombies, and seemed to get the hang of it. I decided it was best I log out for the night, and raid Stary Sobor tomorrow. After all, I'm sure there would be players ripe for the picking with my new rifle.

I have a feeling tomorrow will be a good day. Maybe we will even find the party bus again, we believe it must still be alive out there somewhere. The helicopters should also spawn soon, so obtaining one of those would be nice.

Hylian, sorry about having to bail on you. Work interrupting daylight hours DayZ I am used to. 1:30am, not so much.

That's okay man, I understand. Check out the rest of the story above after you left. I got pretty damn lucky with my loot!

The graphics don't glitch out of me normally but it seems when I'm approaching a town if I zoom in or look down the barrel it will. And then when I'm in town it's ok. Really weird, but yeah pretty much unplayable when it's happening.

I was having this problem looking toward the center of Cherno and Stary Sobor. That was one of the reasons I wanted to get out of Cherno earlier, but Stary isn't much better. Let's hope this changes tomorrow.

You should hit up the enemy camp that's nearly off the map, where I was trying to find the truck.

They had a whole bunch of M9SD mags. At least nine. I grabbed a few for my M9SD, but there should be more back there. Lots of they didn't save the tents before the server reset.

I was in and around Stary so that matches my experience perfectly.
