Played on the gaf server earlier today. That seems to be the best time to play since I didnt have any weird hacker bullshit happen.

Nah, I shot him while the truck was getting stolen he was on the beach with me. I was running beside him and asked him his name, and it was the guy who had taken the Bus. I yelled "Your the fuck who stole our bus" and shot him in the back.
If you get battle domed alt+f4 right away and switch servers. If you're lucky you'll spawn somewhere close to where you last were.
I really hope the next dayz update fixes the graphical issues and blocks the hackers. I've been avoiding the gaf server during peak hours simply because it seems to be a prime target for hackers and it's slow as hell to log in.
Poor seananners. Always seems like such a cool dude.

DayZ update won't do anything about the hackers. They're not hacking DayZ, they're hacking ArmaII.
Expect the hacking to be really bad until battleye figures out the current bypass. After which there won't be much hacking for a few days until they rig the next bypass.
I bought this on a whim after seeing some of the videos and stories posted in this thread. The graphics are awesome, definitely the best looking game I've played so far on my new rig. I played 3 lives, and died each time before finding any weapons. I'm going to give it a better shot tomorrow, I'll come here and hopefully meet up with some gaffers in game!

And there's the problem.
Mod was great while it lasted now it's full with script kiddies who have maphack, godmode and can teleport next to you. Sad thing is Dayz "community" (if you can even call it that) is a piece of shit compared to the normal arma community.
Scripting will never be fixed since arma has always being both script and mod friendly so people will always find another way oh also battle eye sucks.

Nah man were making a new base, and this one is going to be great.
What a night.
A friend and I were looking for heli crashes near Berezino using the map in the wiki with no sucess. We were alone in this server for a while until 3 guys entered and then a 4th one joined us. We noticed that one of the 3 guys was killed but just thought "they must be at the NW airfield" and didn't worry. We went north to the top of the mountain west of Khelm and found a couple of weird looking boxes with nothing inside but they reminded me of hacker devices. We also found a cow corpse full of meat. Since we were low on water we raided the Krasnostav supermarket (and got plenty of soda cans) but on the way out we aggroed many zombies so we run north into one of the big farm houses to get rid of the zeds. We decided to raid the NE airfield too but while approaching it from the west I noticed two guys just standing there near the airfield, seamly frozen. We instantly went prone and I told my friend that there were 2 guys there but he told me "but there's only one more guy in the server" and indeed that was the case. We're not into PvP for a number of reasons besides high pings, low FPS and friendly attitudes. Since the last time I died my corpse was standing we figured out those were corpses too and using binoculars we spotted another corpse kinda nearby, but this one was wearing a ghillie suit and was prone. Something felt wrong so even tho we were still far from the airfield I scouted the airfield tower and to my surprise found the other player prone on the ceiling, looking for us. Even tho we were still under some pine trees very far away we panicked and after a brief discussion about fleeing or disconnecting we agreed to leave the server and call it a day. Surprisingly for us when we reached the lobby the other player was gone so after another brief discussion we pressed "ok" to go inside again. We stumbled upon what looked like a very recent hacker war, with corpses full of the best loot(ghillie suits unused, NVGs, GPSes, all tools, coyote backpacks, very rare weapons and lots of ammo) so while one of us pressed P and waited for the return of our "hacker friend", the other looted the corpses. After we were done we waited for a while for our "friend" fully expecting him to come for us from behind or something but he didn't return so we got bored and called it a day a few minutes ago.
I'm not sure I want to play anymore, I'm SO scared, don't want to get killed with this oh so awesome loot! First time I have many of these goodies!
EDIT: logged in again just to check out the loot and most of it is gone

TommyT, Michael and I stayed up and put a bunch of tents, and a little bit of gear, at the new base. There are probably about 7 or 8 tents up. So all you guys need to do now is fill them up with stuff. I'll help with that when I'm n next. Would be good if we can get a vehicle to help move stuff.
There have been soooooo many GAF bases but this one feels like it could be the best one yet.

Industrial base was mentioned. Afaik there's only one that's remote enough to not be under constant attack. It's got a nice sniper hill in the north, vehicle spawns and a nice lake in the south so it would be my choice for an 'in the open' base.

Yeah that one has been decent but under too much attack these last few days. It was an experiment. We have a new experiment now.

You see one in direct chat ordering him to run away. They were probably contemplating what to do.
Find a nice place to pitch it. Then when you have extra food or weapons or anything that you dont wanna hold onto right then, dump it in the tent. So when you die you can rush right back to that tent and restock. Just hope no one finds it. Hint, they always do lol
Man, just experienced hacking for the first time on an AU server. I didn't care much when it was all international, but kinda hits home now I know my local servers aren't safe now.
Also, is there a way to know people's names while playing on veteran servers? I ask only because I encountered a guy, who saw me first, and asked me if I was friendly. I say yeah, and he asks "Are you Kritz?". Do usernames appear anywhere when people speak or something? Or can you see them?
Or have I just been playing on that server too much...

Good day today. Ran into some poor bastard at point blank range who had NVGs. Then managed to find a Coyote backpack at Stary (god damn those graphics bugs).
Got my silenced M4 (180 rounds) and a Dragunov (40 rounds!), along with almost every tool. All I need is a ghillie suit to replace my camo clothes, and a GPS.
What does the GPS look like when it's on the ground anyway? Does it have its own model, or does it use that generic one that many tools and ammo share?

I finally found my way up north without a map and got some kit without heading in to Cherno or Elektro, and then the server I was on apparently ate my bandages. So I'm bleeding to death in the gas station just north of Zelenogorsk.

It is the ammo bundle image. One way to tell them apart sometimes though is that the GPS is a single item spawn. If you see more than one ammo pack in a spawn it isn't a GPS---unless somebody dropped ammo on top of a GPS for some reason.
Well more credit to those two really. At 4:30 am I got a text to come to bed... and after running back to the factory base (thanks for the pickup BROS... lol jk) and loading up some stuff I couldn't stay up much longer. New base though should be kickin! I did manage to put some barbed wire and tank trap to start the funnel.

I have been playing with two other friends for some time now and one just happend to break his leg... 
We are about an hour footwalk from the coast. Anyone know any good location to get morphine? We are near Zelenogorsk. Do we have to try to get back to Cherno?
Or does anyone know how to get a vehicle? We could use it to drive him back to Cherno.

I'd try the deer stands around Green Mountain and if you don't find it there hit the ones to the south of Zelenogorsk.

Okay I went through the painful install of this mod finally. I don't think I found the right server for GAF though. I searched the number and found a match but it didn't have the location in the name and putting gaf in the filter didn't show a server.
Also, are you completely defenseless until you find a weapon?
