Sadly 90% of the time is spent finding and joining a server
That hasn't been a problem for weeks.

Is the server down right now? I was trying to get on and grab some stuff real quick.
Uh... yeah... about that, it kind of got fucked by a hacker.
Still a problem for me. I was just on yesterday and it took a long time to get in. The first server glitches up to hell and we couldn't see anything thanks to crazy polygons. After that we couldn't find a single working server and gave up.That hasn't been a problem for weeks.
I'm curious, enlighten me.
I lay there helpless while Zen pleads with the hacker to not kill me and seduces him with his irresistible wit.
How... how in the world did I miss out on this? Of course, knowing half of the people involved (mainly the ones on the shit end of the blame pole), I can't really see this as being as serious as the ones on the other end are taking it.
Anyway, how about them new features, rocket?
and fucking Hackers are making DayZ unplayable.![]()

What does make the problem worse is that it's very hard to catch anyone in the act with enough evidence. Due to the lack of names on most servers I have no idea what the hacker is calling themselves, so you can't even ask the owner to investigate player X in the logs. In fact, because of the lack of server history I have no way of remembering which server it was even on in the first place.
You can actually see quite clearly in the logs when hackers spawn stuff.
I don't know how much access you get to that stuff if you just rent a server though.
But if I can't remember which server it was on (was I last playing on a DE server? Was there a 2 in there somewhere? Oh wait that was last yesterday's server)
Get DayZ Commander. It's better than the in-game browser in every possible way.
There is no GAFfer I wouldn't expect when it comes to this.Who is it? Why the big secret? Is it someone we wouldn't expect?
would password protecting not be an option?
I guess hackers laugh at such protection anyway!?
Funny how there was a battleeye patch yesterday, and now there are more hackers than ever.
That patched battleye is probably detecting a significant portion of those hackers. Expect a global ban wave in the near future.
Well, since you're a fan of stories:
ZenVolta and I were heading from the new coastal GAF base to an island that might have a chopper on it. Things took a turn into the the strange during this run. We suddenly see 10 or 11 people die on the lower right corner of the screen and realize a hacker is on the server. We keep running. Then we see two random zombies spawn near us and Zen thinks a Hacker is doing it. We swim across a bit of ocean to chopper island and as we get close I get shot in the chest by an invisible person on the island shore. I'm barely alive. Zen stays in the water and watches as the invisible Hacker pulls my bleeding body to the shore. I lay there helpless while Zen pleads with the hacker to not kill me and seduces him with his irresistible wit. Next thing I know the hacker is healing me and telling us there is no chopper on the island. He says we're dead if we fire one shot at him. We obey the rule and he tells us to follow him. We're nervous but decide to see what he has in store.
We walk for awhile and he says that he's tired of walking, so he makes a car appear. I tell him that I am impressed by his god-like abilities. He is amused at my lame conversation and takes us on a trip. We drive for a bit and then teleport to some random area on the map. I'm still thinking he's going to kill us both. Then he tell us to get out and makes a chopper appear. We fly around the map while the hacker tells us he is going to build a base. He starts doing backflips and barrelrolls in the chopper. Then we land somewhere outside of the map and he tells us he needs to restart Arma to get his mic to work and he'll "brb". He says he's sorry. I wonder why. Zen gets shot in the head. Oh... now I know why he said that. I get shot in the head too but this hacker wasn't the one shooting us. A different hacker came running up the hill and tried killing all three of us. I lay bleeding and watch a hacker vs hacker fight break out. I die.
We spawn back in and run around for a bit. The hackers are all gone. Zen, TommyT and I decide to meet up and loot the Balota airstrip. We talk about the hacker, wonder if we'll ever see him again. We're searching near a building when we suddenly hear a car honk behind us... we turn to see the hacker is back in a shiny black car. He tells us to get in and we are off on another strange trip. He teleports us to an area outside the map. We all get out and he loads us up with a ton of gear. Then we all can't move. Everyone in the mumble, on the server, say that they can't move too. The hacker tells us that he has locked everyone in place so hackers can't attack us. He allows Zen, TommyT and I to move again but everyone else on the server can't move. MOB starts to get pissed about this. Shit get's glitchy and the server freaks and dies. We're not sure if it was this hacker's fault or if the other hackers were trying to stop him and ruined the server in the process.
The GAF server has been missing ever since.
I'll continue from the last bit:
So we server hop to find another sever, each one of us choosing different ones. We all end up where we expect, outisde the map, and being to run. Turns out JROCK and I lose everything in our packs, all the AS50 rounds, and have nothing in the way of food/water. We plan to head to an old GAF base. Decide we can't make it as water/food begin to turn read. It's agreed to check out Petrovka in hopes of finding something and killing zombies for food stuffs.
We log into the same server an spookily enough, EXACTLY the same spot which causes a mini freak out. In town, we try to shoot zombies with our M1911's... not good, they mob us. So we try the slow/sneaky hatchet and it works. We both get drink. However we end up passing out several times, bleeding a lot, breaking legs, etc. JROCK logs with drink, can of food, and 350 blood and bleeding. I run off into the woods to kill a rabbit for food as I'm down to 4k blood. I amass 3 sodas, finally get a piece of food, and manage to scrounge a bandage for JROCK. We wait for Zen to reach us with blood from his 'lucky' spawn in the NW Airfield. He does, patches me up JROCK logs in and I bandage while he loads in leaving him at 200 blood. He's transfused, we hunt for some last minute food/drink and are on our merry way.
Still a problem for me. I was just on yesterday and it took a long time to get in. The first server glitches up to hell and we couldn't see anything thanks to crazy polygons. After that we couldn't find a single working server and gave up.
This worked for me.Dayzpvp.com said:For the giant polygun bug going on right now try this tip from gamefoo:
Got those giant shards and artifacts making the game unplayable? Fix is here:
Go to Documents/ArmA 2/playername.ArmaA2OAProfile
Open file in Notepad
Search for sceneComplexity=;
Change to sceneComplexity=100000;
Save changes and exit.
Launch DayZ with preferred method.
Also you can make this tweak by setting Object Detail to Very Low (thx again to Szalent)
Dayz reached 1Mio unique players today. should I make a seperate thread about this?
New beta patch is out. Not sure if its worth installing but I did just for the sake of not having to do so later.

Probably just more hackers.... QQ

I can't find the gaf server, is there an ip i can use to join?
Password protected servers are severed from the Hive.
I think the hackers are all Russian, and are purposely targeting US servers because lag does not Mather in this game (and even less when you are hacking). Is that a fair assumption?
Did anyone make the 1 million player thread yet?
Seriously though its VERY impressive.
Someone had better make it before I get home from work!
The hacker that we dealt with last night just sounded like an older (40s) American guy.
