Hitting a zombie with that bat doesn't feel too good. I know is the pre-alpha version but i would hope to see better animations when you hit a zombie.
Loved the stream (that kill on sight).
Cherno 2.0 looks stunning.
Needs more zombies though.
IIRC they said they wanted ~3K (which is 3 times more than the mod amount) zombies. As you said, right now it looks like the usual 700-900.I have a feeling its the same or more than the mod.

so good
Objects have location based damage now. Makes you think before shooting someone as the gear can get destroyed.
That's pretty cool, so instead of shooting dudes I'll just have to hold them at gunpoint and rob them.
I have a feeling its the same or more than the mod. But since zombies dont spawn ON the player you dont notice them as much.
Is the standalone going to be f2p?
Yeah, but there will be microtransactions. For instance you can buy a starter pack for $9.99 which will give you a Lee Enfield, three bandages and 2 cans of water and beans when the first spawn in. Keep in mind that if you die you'll lose this stuff forever, though. Is the standalone going to be f2p?

Ew. Doesn't sound like the developer has high regards for consoles.
Doesn't give me confidence, after suffering from some obvious Master Race ports that got the redheaded stepchild treatment on consoles. Valve's Counterstrike:GO & Overkill's PayDay2 for instance. No patches, no DLC, etc.
Will be giving this a more critical look-over before thinking about picking it up on PS4.
By the time DayZ Console Edition shambles its way to consoles, The Last of Us 2 will probably be an option.

You can use ducktape, bindings, or handcuffs to restrain people now. The tools are there, the motivation is there, I think shooting on sight will go down dramatically.
When firearms are basically insta-kill, you shoot immediatly because you don't want the other to even think of shooting (thus killing) you: because you understand, as soon as you meet someone, that if he does intend to shoot, you're already dead if you just give him the chance.
And thus I sincerely think the effect of the equipment damage will be negligible: immediatly and radically eliminating a concrete deadly threat, even at the cost of ruining loot, is still far too convenient.
What must be done IMO is to make shooting sorta inconvenient.
Zombies attraction to gunshots for example, is one good solution that needs to be properly tuned now that melee is in: when you are in a town crossing into someone else, you would think twice before shooting, knowing it'll pull zombies onto you (that's why I lamented the seemingly low amount of zombies in the stream).
..and the very same gunshot sound mechanic helps with promoting teamplay too: if even the bog standard pistol has a good zombie attraction factor, the lone "shoot&loot" wolf will have hard times, he'd need comrades to help deal with the zombie wave if he want to do it reliably and in relative "safety".
Leveraging like this the gunshots influence will make scavenging very melee+sneaking, especially if you're alone. I'm sure many wouldn't like this, but it has been stated that the game is about survival and I would keep pursuing the survival aspect above everything else; after all there's literally plenty of games about shooting around.

Add to that the scarcity of ammo. It's been reasonably abundant during the streams, but Rocket pointed out that he shouldn't really have been finding whole mags - these will be largely removed, and we will be more likely to find empty mags and individual rounds. You may find yourself in a position where you have ammo to kill someone, but not enough to defend yourself against the zeds you attract in the process. When firearms are basically insta-kill, you shoot immediatly because you don't want the other to even think of shooting (thus killing) you: because you understand, as soon as you meet someone, that if he does intend to shoot, you're already dead if you just give him the chance.

That's the archived video from Rocket's Twitch account.
So what does everyone think about DayZ this week. Yay or Nay?

Nay, I'm thinking mid-January.
They really need to improve the melee. :/ Scare healing items and needing to bash something 20 times wont cut it.If you have issues with Twitch crapping out, someone has re-upped it to Youtube:

So who of the old crew, (Knox,Mikey,Zero,Ryan DG, Trapfire) and so on are coming back for SA? I miss playing with you guys.
I hope Ryan comes back. That silky smooth voice calmed my nerves. Was trapfire the one that hates Zen now? Because Zen shot him in cold blood for taking a gun out of his backpack? Can't remember if it's him. Gonna be a shitload of people in mumble when Alpha hits. We'll need to split up into teams and assign some leaders to avoid all out chaos.
Everyone busy today. Lots of fixing. I've been working with Fido to try make zombies more interesting/threatening. Tough work! #DayZDaily
Thought that they were gonna take the day off today. No updates to the SteamDB but Rocket says they where hard at work.
Is it me or is the fps much more smooth than the mod? Looks good regardless. If you have issues with Twitch crapping out, someone has re-upped it to Youtube:

I reckon before Christmas since Dean mentioned wanting to go back home for the holidays.
