DC Universe Online Live on Xbox One

Such a fun game. I have 1000s of hours into it.

Drop out when they started making so many changes to the core game.

Leveling 1-30 is a lot of fun.

You can play the whole "game" solo. Then you have raids and other things.

Really a great FTP game.

Ugh trying to find a name for my superhero is difficult because the ones I want are taken.

Power of Ice and Flight , she's trained under Superman.

Looked for snow terminology and found this:

Penitente/Penitentes: Tall blades of snow found at high altitudes.

Oh wow, I literally had no idea that this was coming to Xbox One. I always assumed it was a Sony exclusive title. Guess the SOE changeover to Daybreak has its rewards!

Look alright. I'll give it a shot since it's free. Been playing tons of Neverwinter (really my first MMO) on Xbone so it'll be nice trying out something new.

The PlayStation versions are cross play with PC.

When did this happen? I played a bit of this thing on PC then logged into the PS3 version when it came out and no character list... It was all separate.

Just started this and had an hour.

Got to level 4 and it seems OK but damn the framerate can take a nosedive every now and then.

Since this is no cross play that means everyone has to make a new character and start from the beginning? I may play it if so.

Didn't like the game on PS3 either.

It'll never hold a candle to the beloved, departed City of Heroes.

And it's character creator is absolute balls compared to City of Heroes or Champions Online (even if the character creator is literally the only good thing about Champions Online).

Plus it's from Daybreak Games, formally SOE, and as someone who followed Everquest Next from its announcement? I don't trust anything coming out of this company.

Looking at the store, yes. Wait my only choices are the $36 8 powers pack or the $80 ultimate kit if I want those? I will still try it but I am very disappointed.
I know they revamped the purchase options a while back but you used to be able to buy a month of sub time, make a new character (or purchase a respec token for an existing character), and keep the power on that character after your sub time expired as long as you didn't use another respec token.
Guessing that might still be an option cause those prices are ridiculous.

For those that didn't like it on PS3, don't let that keep you away from PS4/XB1 versions (or PC for that matter). Game was sluggish, ugly and buggy as hell on PS3. Plays much smoother on other platforms.

One of the best MMOs, IMO. One of the few I keep going back to over the years.

Took me a while to download the game and create a character...and then...

Sigh.

I don't remember there being a queue when I played it on PC a few months ago. Heh.

Some of these quests are a pain in the ass because there are so many people trying to complete them right now. Basically try to be the first one to hold B on a damn objective before everyone else when it pops up.

How is it running on the Xbox One? I had no idea this was coming. I played it on PS3 and PS4 and PC, but it has been a while since I have played it, so just curious as to how the Xbox One version stacks up framerate/resolution wise.

Wow, I played this in 2011. Amazing that it's still alive.

It's a good mmo. Traveling around the city is so much fun, combined with interesting quests. The open world PVP integration is also good. One of the first action open world mmorpgs back then.

;p Finding a thematic name that someone didn't take three years ago is the true battle of Metropolis.

For real. I thought I was a genius when I named a Flash-type speedster "LandspeedRecord" only to lose it due to inactivity.

My favorite part was the traversal. Combat was complete ass for me. Well, except for hard light. Hitting people with train constructs and boxing gloves is always good.

This queue is a bit annoying for my Wonder Woman trained Funkatron3000 who is waiting to reclaim the streets.

This game does still exist? I stopped playing it on PC when they goofed the Steam Version by moving all servers in the EU (Sat1 & Pro7 or so bought the EU servers?). Never got why they couldn't patch the Steam version to use the new servers/SSO... you pretty much had to manually overwrite files and pray that nothing breaks. Pretty much all Steam DLC was rendered useless after the switch (you could no longer redeem the keys on the EU account).
It was a giant mess to say the least.

Yea. I quit playing before SOE was sold. So reading up nothing carries over to the xbox version. You have to rebuy all the stuff you bought etc. Screw that. Your shit should carry over. Not to mention a 22 to 45 minute wait if you're playing free. Fuck that. This game is gonna bomb hard on xbone.

I dont remember this on the PS3 version either. I never started the PS4 version.
Only saving grace about playing this on XBO is external harddrive support for games. At one point I had to stop playing and delete this off my PS3 because of the size. And forget transferring this game over during a system transfer or back up. Much easier to just delete and and re download it.

Damn no OT. Any xboxers wanna add me??

Van Winkel x

Ive just subbed a month but I can easily see me going longer..

So that first queue already puts me off right away. Need to wait 15 min to join because i play for free. Already no intention to go back really.
I know they need to make money. But yeah i want to try the game first...

I found this game incredibly boring.

The combat is attrocious and the traversal stuff that seems mildly cool at first seems to have basically no point.

The missions are some of the worst I've ever seen in an MMO. There were multiple quests along the lines of "Kill 15 of X enemy" where there weren't even 15 of that enemy in the area. I had to just sit and camp respawns... Other players were camping it to so it was basically encouraging kill stealing and just a mad rush whenever the baddy would spawn in.

Absolute terrible game design, in my experience.

I put it down after only hitting like 20 or so. I'm sure people will come in and say the end game is great or something. But IMO if an MMO can't grab you off the bat it's not worth grinding through hours and hours of bad content to get to whatever is good.

Wow, I never had that que on PS4. Is it because it just released and they expect a large amount of people at once?

Doing a video for this in the next day or so. The queue is insane, but most everyone i know is playing so its probably a combo of new on the xbox as well as a server issue.

Does anyone have suggestions for character creation? Is there anything to steer clear of, or any must have abilities? I played at PC launch and went with Batman as my mentor, and did dual pistols, gadgets, and acrobatics (I think, I could run up buildings and stuff). I made it to max level, then quit, so I don't even know if that setup was good for endgame or pvp.

Finally worked out how to group up and did some missions and a 4player instance. The game is great and I can definitely see me subbing again and playing this for months.

Am I missing something?

I booted this up last night and I am honestly shocked at how poor the performance is. The framerate must be a constant 15fps if that. The graphics look 2 generations behind and the gameplay is sparse to say the least.

I was super pumped to start it.

Help me out. I did all the prologue and I am now in the city. What is is that people love about this game?

It originally released on PC in 2011, so it looks a bit dated. At the time, the concept of action based combat was still relatively new to MMOs, so it had that going for it. I'm guessing that being a comic fan would help a lot as well.

Personally, I played it for a week or so before I stopped playing. When it went free to play I came back and got to max level, and quit again. I don't remember anything that really stood out as bad, there just wasn't anything amazing about it either. I'm also not into comics, so there's a lot of really weird and cheesy stuff in there that I'm not familiar with at all.
