Don't really get what's "offensive" about it. Looks like satire to me.

USA! USA! USA!
In all seriousness, remember when, after the first trailer, it seemed like Dead Island was going to be a cut above?
Why is this ok and but DI bikini body is in bad taste? I don't see a difference.

Would be more similar if the screwdriver was a penis.

The developers aren't even Americans so I don't get the USA! crap you posted.
The picture of the american version shows the left arm clearly cut the same way. All publicity is not good publicity. They have lost at least one customer. Tacky beyond words and an unnecessary objectification of women, something that has to go asap in this industry.

Man, I wouldn't want that anywhere in my apartment, either. Both are tacky, but the Dead Island figure has that extra creep-factor.
I suppose that figure only really makes sense if you put yourself in the mindset of someone making a zombie game, who's obsessed with schlocky videogames and zombie movies, and who's comparing the product of their entire livelihood to other zombie media and their collector's-edition items.
It's a thing that is only acceptable or even conceivable within a very (very) narrow context. The comparison to anime figurines is valid in that sense. The developers of DI inhabit that context full-time. Anybody outside of that context will likely find this pretty fucking tacky, creepy, and/or offensive.
Fix'd.
What isn't objectification of women? Women gets nude in a commercial! How disgusting and sexist. Man does it! Who cares. Should all human women be covered head to toe and never be allowed to show their sexual organs?
Pretty much. Not limited to US gaming websites though, also read it on RPS.From what I gather on the OP, The ridiculous outrage on Twitter and on some gaming news websites:
200 dollar life size replica gun as a pre-order bonus or goty: oh, that's nice
the sheer mention of breasts: OH MY GOD ARE THOSE FEMALE MAMMARIES THIS IS HORRIBLE WHY WOULD THEY DO THIS
I was just thinking that with how over sensitive the West has become over anything depicting the female form, they should have another CE using the David, complete with tiny penis and all, as the model. Doing such would not only create the media buzz they are going for, but it would also put an end to sexism arguments this Venus parody is creating.
This isn't just about how it's a statue of a woman in a bikini. It's the combination of a sexualized female body with an image of gory death and the dehumanization of the corpse as "zombie bait." It's easy to read that as a negative, callous attitude towards women.
The statue is sculpted to look like it has breast implants, for crying out loud. That says a lot.
This would be a pretty egalitarian approach. An anonymous man depicted from the bottom of the ribcage to the top of the knees wearing an itty bitty Union Jack thong. Only it couldn't be a tiny-penised David because as you can see, the female version has enormous fake cartoon breasts. So they'd have to equip him accordingly.I was just thinking that with how over sensitive the West has become over anything depicting the female form, they should have another CE using the David, complete with tiny penis and all, as the model. Sexual objectification refers to the practice of regarding or treating another person merely as an instrument (object) towards one's sexual pleasure, and a sex object is a person who is regarded simply as an object of sexual gratification. Objectification more broadly is an attitude that regards a person as a commodity or as an object for use, with little or no regard for a person's personality or sentience.
I always wonder how stuff like this gets approved. Who wants to put like something like that on their shelf?
Waaaaah waaaah I'm offended waaaah
For the record, I am not appalled. I just don't know who in the hell would want a bloodied and decapitated corpse of a formerly hot woman in a bikini displayed in their house. I am sure some perverted 'hardcore' teenagers will get off on it, though. Which is whom I am guessing they are aiming this at. In which sense, it is most certainly tasteless. A simple zombie statue would have sufficed and would have a much broader appeal.
