Dead Island Riptide's CE is just gross. NSFW. [Might be pulled. Read OP.]

Have no clue why people are so outraged by this. Would anyone be outraged if they sold a cut up penis? Why do people give a shit.

Have you ever been to the beach? Ugh. All the women showing their breasts. It's repulsive. I cannot believe the female form is so shameless in the way that it exists. I'm outraged.

But this? What's the big deal? White knight feminazi overly sensitive sissies. Sheesh. You act like you've never seen a bloody torso with perfectly intact boobs before... And in convenient trophy form! Nothing unsettling here.

I'm sure this is exactly what Stephen Fry had in mind when he said that. Good point. You certainly won this debate.
Anything you apply to Stehpen Fry's sentence is perfectly fine, right Eric?

You don't mean straight men in there right? You are making no logical sense, whatsoever.

^All women voters. There's infinite magazines/surveys where that came from, you need to know that.

I'm not sure what the point of those links were, aside from establishing that men and women have different ideas of what the ideal physique is, which I agree with. My point was that when it comes to media, videogames especially, it's the male perspective that's catered to in both genders.

You also need to understand something. Men want to know what women find most attractive and try to appeal to that, Women want to know what men find attractive and try to appeal to that. We are, afterall, sexual beings, right? There is nothing wrong with this. Lets get this straight.

In hollywood/comics/VIDEOGAMES/books and pretty much all pop culture - I've detected no hidden agenda being perpetrated by men against women. I've seen examples where female characters have been great heroes, broken their usual stereotypes and I've seen games where males have done the same.

If you think women are objectified because Porn exists of which men are major consumers, then Men are also objectified in raunchy erotic novels of which women are major consumers in which men are stereotyped. Men have been stereotyped in most if not all examples of media which considers female as their major demographics. And there's nothing wrong with that.

This is no hidden, one sided agenda here. If you feel you want to fight for something greater than yourself in your life, go join the army/navy etc. There is no war in here. Just needless drama.

Whoa, I never suggested anything so extreme. You're right that there's no conspiracy behind the media that unilaterally is acting against women. But make no mistake, there are certain tacit values held by the larger culture about everything, including women, and those who create media both express and perpetuate those values, consciously or unconsciously. The point of this thread is certain members railing against those values being represented in a medium they care about.

Heh, you left the best part out :

I haven't taken the time to read through all of it yet, but basically, all this is suggesting that people who view porn in which a rape scene has been enacted - are more likely to accept rape myth. Otherwise, all kinds of other pornographic material do not have any effect.

You're going to have to bring in better studies than this to prove your point, and hopefully which dont try to assert an overreaching claim by studying a tiny niche in a niche of people. Actually that study claims at the very end, a lot of research is still needed to prove behavior change towards the female gender by consuming entertainment media. But keep looking I'm sure you'll find something good.

Funny that you're so eager to deny the affects of media on our view towards women. You're right, the findings are only that there's evidence of a causal link between viewing rape porn and believing the rape myth. It doesn't establish complete proof of what I've been arguing, but any rational person would admit it supports the argument. So I turn the question on you: where's the study that positively establishes evidence of no such link?

So a cut or two and some blood on the boobs would have fixed this for you?

I would have been more willing to buy your argument that it wasn't purely about the sexual appeal.

I've been wanting to say this for a long time but this whole site, this whole message board is seriously fuckin' sensitive. I always thought that a suppressive society would start from political correctness, when you can't say what you want or how you feel from worrying about how somebody would feel or think about what you say. The people who get offended, what fuckin' pristine lives are you living where you've never offended anybody, at all, on the planet? What flawless lives do you have and live where you've never offended somebody on the planet? Getting offended doesn't mean YOUR shit doesn't stink.

The hyper sensitivity and white knighting is laughably misplaced. Yeah, it's a bit over the top, but calm the fuck down.

People are blatantly sexist because they're screaming out that it's wrong be"CAUSE" a female body is featured. A "female" body offends you?

no

This wouldn't make it past the official twitter company post or several gaming news outlet articles/posts if it weren't for a fucking female being on it.

yes, actually, that is part of it. I'm glad you're starting to grasp what misogyny is

Wow, I kind of think the backlash is overblown. There is a simple solution: If you don't like it then don't buy it.

However, if someone does like it and buys it I still don't care. Who am I to judge anyone?

I don't see why people are offended by this, if it was a man's body nobody would say anything other than " That's stupid. "

I don't get the outrage at all.

You literally will see that exact thing hundreds of times in the game. Hundreds. Not only see it, but you will be the one that hacks the limbs off with a rusty machete.

And have none of you ever seen ANY horror movies. Like, ever? 97% of them all feature really atractive female forms that get sliced and diced. It is a staple. If anything this is LESS disturbing being that it is a Zombie, where as in horror flicks you see living breathing and often naked college kids being ripped and cut apart while they are still breathing.

Not that I would ever buy it. Ever. But it still makes perfect sense, and the fact that people actively got this to be haultedis ridiculous.

This thread makes no sense. Also props to that one guy about the faux outrage that I am too lazy to quote.

But you're doing the reverse right now. You're assuming that people- males- are offended by this because they think they know what women feel and think. You think that's bullshit because in your mind most women wouldn't be offended by it. You're taking your own opinions on the matter and attaching it to an entire gender, and then complaining that people are taking their own opinions and attaching it to an entire gender.

Was kind of going to post this. You know what, I'll show this to my girlfriend tomorrow and tell you all what she thinks. You're all encouraged to do the same.

I don't get the outrage at all.

Number of times I've hacked off the limbs off a female torso (or a female, period) in a game: zero. Perhaps you shouldn't project your own disturbing gameplay habits into others? Not surprising, in any case, that you wouldn't find anything wrong with it.

I personally find this in particularly bad taste; it's like gender violence distilled and wrapped up into one neat (well, messy) package. For all those complaining that no controversy would arise if this was a male torso (arguable in itself), simply ask yourselves: why ISN'T it a male torso, then, if its meaning would be the same, as you imply?

Human beings were treating each other like shit long before there were commercials and movies and video games and music and books and newspapers and instagram and social media sites telling us to do so, Remachinate. LONG before. It's ironic that half of the people offended in here come off like the very forces in society that try to blame violnce on video games instead of the individuals who perpetrate violence. Most people DON'T play video games. Most people could give a "FUCK" about a "Dead Island" video game or special edition statue and don't need a video game or a porn flick or a rock or rap song to treat another human being like shit. All most people need, is to have been fucked over enough in life, not be emotionally stable or have the want to preserve life, and that's enough for them to want to do whatever it is they would do. Half of you sound like Lieberman. Attack porn. There's your target. No bigger perpetrator of female discrimination in this "WORLD" then porn. This figurine pales in comparison to the way porn sexualizes females. You want a target, there it is. Porn.

I don't see why people are offended by this, if it was a man's body nobody would say anything other than " That's stupid. "
And many of the people here are not saying anything other than "That's stupid" about the female torso. I think in this case many are assuming others are more offended than they really are.

Then again, there are people like that Twitter guy posted above who really are offended for little to no reason.

They very likely never made any.

They made two at least.

Go after porn endless dave. Take your crusade to that battle. Going after a limtied run bust is nothing. You're not going to change minds or the world going after this. Both thigns fuel porn as well as this bust, but choosing "THIS" message board to point out misogyny isn't...going....to.....change anything.

I feel bad for the company who made this decision because now they have been given a label and I am sure that everybody who decided to put the statue in feels like crap and guilty. If they thought they would be getting this kind of reaction they would have done something else.

I'm no white male but I truly believe that they are the only ones, straight white males in particular, to allowed to be shown in any negative way.

I was thinking of an example earlier, based on this outrage, that if a bunch of zombies were to attack a United Nations council meeting, which was the first and most easy example of an ethnically diverse group of people I could think of, they would ignore all the non-white straight males and attack all the straight white males only.

If you show, in any trailer, in any comic, in any story or any medium, people other than straight while males getting attacked, then you're some kind of "ist".

As a non-white male it pisses me off to get lumped into this category where I have to be coddled and all of these "people" have to speak up for me and say what is or isn't offensive to me.

Please don't fuckin' stereotype me or other people and let THEM speak up for themselves, individually.

Jesus Christ you have taken this thread into crazy town territory.

Step back. It's a pair of tits as a collectors item. Do you see how dumb that is? What if it was a spread pussy? Would you see what's wrong with it then? Just like if it were a rock hard cock and balls. It's objectifying for the sake of it. It breeds a negative connotation with gamers and sex. It's pointless , harmful, and dumb. If nobody was offended we'd see this shit everywhere. There's a reason why it's good for people to speak up.

We do see this shit everywhere. Breaking: tits are everywhere, in all media, all the time.

I don't understand why people have an issue with this.

Mortal Kombat and GoW have much worse in game violence/sexuality.

Go to destructoid, they have figurine affiliated websites, or at least one site that I have seen before, that CONSTANTLY objectifies your precious human females, without any blood. If you really have a cause worth fighting for, then prove to us that you have one and take it up. I'd at least appreciate your efforts, rather than the "you-are-not-allowed-to-think-anything-other-than-this-is-misogynistic" mantra that you're trying to get everyone to think. LOL There are females as we speak attention whoring themselves, and doing all kidns of shit, and we're in here fighting for people who could give a fuck. ha ha ha ha ha ha. You all are fighting for people that don't even want the protection you're giving them.

What is this I don't even?

I said THE game. As in the game this is a collectors edition for?

The game features HUNDREDS of undead women (and men) from a tourist resort that happen to be in bikinis. The game is an FPS in which you kill said zombies by chopping them apart with melee weapons. That is literally what you do the entire game. So my point was, this CE is an accurate depiction of what you will see in game. Just as a Big Daddy with Bioshock is representative of what you see in THAT game.

What the fuck are you going on about?

I'm not sure who you're fighting for, exactly. This seems to be very personal for you.

Your mini rant posts are becoming.. weird. Take a break man.

What are you going on about? There are plenty of women that care about the representation of women in the media which, yes, includes video games. Because some do not does not invalidate the arguments of the ones that do.
