Pre-ordered through the glorious B/S/T thread. Feeling great, gonna order a 360 stick to really get in business! Really sad about the online delay, but I gotta train up!

People who complain about DOA's T&A should probably be getting over it by now. Its never been anything else besides that and fighting..and that 'new direction' was averted before the game came out 2 years ago

Mila would've been a great model to follow with the other added female characters.

Yep - job, training, practical clothing, pragmatic fighting style in a game that loves its fantasy ninjas and flashy wrestlers... they were on to something interesting and tasteful, and DoA5 was pretty even gender-wise, despite the series being famous for its girls.

If people wanted to pay extra for bikinis, fine, the base game didn't wasn't affected by that.

But by the time DoA5U starting expanding its cast via DLC: loli, Kasumi clone and female version of male old series boss, a voyeur mode, and most of Mila's outfits seem to be recycled from everybody else, like an afterthought :/

I'm not sure which initial footage you are talking about that didn't have girls in it.

This one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsznlg5olBE
You know, where the game series famous for its girls and their depictions decided to reveal its new iteration to the world by focusing exclusively on male characters - seemed like an interesting message to get across at a time.
The later reveal that it would also have at least one character from Virtua Fighter, a series that's more respected that actually played, also seemed to mean that the mechanics were something they were serious about to go head-to-head with it.

Whether you preorder or not, those costumes are going to eventually be released for the game. So you can either preorder and get what you want or don't preorder and not worry about it.

It is your money, do what you wish. I just can't wrap my head around your reasoning for doing so.

There's no definite reasoning because there's no definite decision - for now, I just don't feel like giving TK the impression that the bikini stuff is desirable by throwing my money at the game in these circumstances. It may be a very minor beep in their radar, but hell, it's my bleep, and I don't want it to be misinterpreted.

I have played DoA since I was 9 with 2 starting on the Dreamcast and I liked it because of the counter system and how fast it moved for a 3D fighter.

I didn't know until I guess 4 (despite playing 3 as well) that, people really did just play it because of the tits. And even then I said "Why not just look at porn?" I didn't get it. I still don't kind of get it. You can just look up porn of the characters in DoA for free.

Agreed. At it's core it's a really fun, solid game. The DLC has made it more than clear that a large portion of the fanbase is in it for titties though.

Wait a sec, 360 sticks work on PC ?

Which ones are good ?

No idea! I was just going to buy a USB wired Stick. Maybe my DOA4 one (Kokoro is on it) would work, although it is lacking in button placement- an old Hori stick. I really loved the DOA5 board, but never got around to buying it. Might go in now, as I wasn't sure if the compatibility was ever updated for the new generation of consoles.

Almost all of them do.

There are a ton of options available. Madcatz Pro is a good stick at a relatively low cost. Really depends on what you're looking for (size, parts, layout, etc.)

That I'll be able to use any of my sticks on this is the reason I'm getting it. I will only have one stick for PS4 when this rolls around, so it'll be nice to be able to play this vs. with my friends without buying another 200 dollar TE2.

62% of the way to Reward 1! These are the coolest costumes, so that's all I really want. The rest would be nice bonuses, but I'm glad just to get Reward 1.

Pre-ordered as soon as I woke up and saw this on the Steam rotation thing. I didn't even look at what the rewards were. Now that I have, hopefully it gets to the third reward level easily.

Is it acceptable to express concerns about this pre-order stuff slowly choking our hobby here? Probably beating a dead horse, but I wish people would realize pre-ordering is bad for the consumer in so many ways. It appears not enough players have been burned by it.
We basically are giving up the only leverage we have, which is our money. You don't know how well it performs, whether it has bugs etc pp.
Refunds, at least in my country and I'm guessing in yours too, are few and far between. You open it, you keep it. Digital refunds, at least more than one of them, good luck with that.

So here they lure us into pre-ordering by offering revealing bonus costumes. Those probably would have been just unlockables, back in the day. A couple of years ago, they would've been DLC. Now they're pre-order only. You could argue that they may not have been made at all if it weren't for pre-order bonus and things like that, but I just really kinda miss the time where a game was the same for everybody. Not some missions, some costumes, some weapons, you name it - being gated behind pre-order and other DLC paywalls. I don't mind a proper DLC addon some couple months down the line at a reasonable price, but I despise pre-order bonusses, day one DLC offerings and games with 30+ single item DLCs 1,99 apiece to the point of me not even wanting to play them.

You pre-order this game, a beat-em-up mind you, that will launch without an online mode as per bottom of the steam page:

Online modes for Dead or Alive 5 Last Round will be added in a patch within 3 months of release.

Are three months an acceptable time frame for you guys? Three months later you could probably picking this up at a steam sale for less than half the money, bug-fixed and with a fresh online mode to boot.

Well, I wish you all good luck. It was a different developer, but I heard that promise before. Redlynx said the online mode in Trials Fusion would be added later, a couple of weeks iirc. The game launched in April 2014 and as of now, the multiplayer is said to be released sometime in spring 2015.

That's a giant distinction. One was vague and then became explicit. One is completely explicit.

Hmm I paid $15 for the game which is about 60% off the price so I paid what it was worth for me. I can wait 3 months and I can probably have fun just playing by myself or local vs.

Tier 1's already unlocked within a day. Maybe we can get Tier 3 by February?

Right, but you cannot really assume the price of some Russian key seller page is what the bulk of buyers will be paying. Same for going against Steam's TOS and using a VPN to buy from their foreign markets. That $15 is likely to be the official steam price in the western marketplaces three months down the line.

I'd agree that $15 is a reasonable price for this game though, considering it appears to be a touched up port from the 360 version and launches without an online mode. To me, its absence screams "the game's not ready in other areas as well".

Not gonna lie I laughed really hard when I saw the last two goals, they were exactly what I thought they would be before I clicked on the read more tag.

I don't support preordering in any way but if the people who want to risk it get something out of it then by all means ladies and gentlemen, I just hope the port is good.

I love DOAs fighting, I also enjoy the titties, its win win for me!

One nice thing about PC fighting game ports- people make unlock mods for that garbage.

So it's ok to pirate DLC if you consider it garbage? When it comes to DOA5 they have been completely fair with the DLC, offering none on disc as far as I am aware and have been keeping a steady stream of it going since it's original launch. Not to mention they offer tons of ingame unlockable outfits so to me it never felt like they left the game bare to squeeze more profits out later.

If it's on disc/on the install and you have to pay to unlock it that's a different story but in this case this is probably just like the bikini pre-order outfits for the original DOA5 where they became available later as standard DLC for anyone who didn't pre-order.

On the main topic I'm excited to see this come to PC but am wondering if any system will be put in place to carry over DLC payed for on the 360 or PS3. Steam has utilized PSN linking in the past for content so I'm hoping that could be the case here. Otherwise I don't think I can swallow re-purchasing all the costumes I've bought over the past year and a half or so.
