Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 screens

Are the pre-fight intros and story-scenes in Last Round (PS4/X1 versions) 60 fps? I've only played the last-gen version.

Because I'm thinking that with DoAX3, the mini-games and menus will be 60 fps, but the cutscenes will be 30.

Like someone else said, I think it is 30 fps in cutscenes. I only have the PC version, which isn't well catered for but I do believe it's 30fps in all versions. But hopefully the reason behind that is being tied to PS3/X360 versions and we can move on from that.

As for minigames, I may be weird but I don't want any other major sport to be added with volleyball. I don't mind having jet ski races (esp. if they made it like road rash where you can kick others off), because those are very different, but another ball game would seem too similar to volleyball. I'd rather they perfect the volleyball than just add more quantity.

Everything looks much better than in DOA5. Character model, lighting, hair, textures are all considerably better.

Looks a little better to me.

I have to some what agree, but I think this is more due to the visual styling of the game.
Seeing as the game does not aim at mimicking "real life graphics", but rather a more "manga-ish" style, with far less skin/facial/body imperfection, the characters and environment will for always be stuck in some what of a "uncanny valley" where no matter how powerful hardware or advanced graphical engines we get, this game will sort of remain the same.

This is pretty much what Itagaki said in response to criticism after they released the first DOA4 trailer way back at E3... 2005 (I think that was the first high definition video I ever even downloaded)? Back then people were complaining it didn't look that different from DOA3, but that's just the visual style Tecmo has gone with. It almost reached its logical conclusion on the original Xbox.

There are other examples however of "realistic but anime style" 3D art directions that still show significant improvements from generation to generation. The Final Fantasy games are a big example. So are Metal Gear and Resident Evil. You could argue though those games have much bigger budgets than DOA or Ninja Gaiden.

For the same reason, DoA 3 looked really good on the first xbox. I remember thinking the graphics seemed much nicer than many of my games I had on ps2.

Wait for non-bullshots first. But yeah, it should look better considering DOA5 was PS3/360 and this is PS4.

Of course, but TN bullshots are usually accurate sans AA mostly. This doesn't need to be 60fps so they can go all out with textures, lighting, physics, etc... It's looking really good so far.

Looks like a PS1 game

DOAX1 was on a new engine

Correct. I remember when seeing DOAX on my Panasonic Tau, IQ was absolutely pristine.

Not directed to you.

On another note, I'm of the opinion the art style has not stagnantated how well the characters look. All you have to do is imagine this game with the graphical fidelity of the new Ratchet and Clank. It's just too bad Team Ninja has a smaller budget and may be within platform transitions as others have already pointed out. Last gen to this gen and still developing the game on Vita.

Not sure this could be done but imagine the techniqes used in The Tomorrow Children using the same Team Ninja art style. DOAX 3 would look downright amazing with more effort.

Alas, we'll have to take what we can get.

I think they're really missing the big picture here if they don't include water sports.
I think wrestling in mayonnaise would make for interesting gameplay.

Mayo can congeal for resistance and a strong sense of "friction" that would make maneuvering in it rather weighty and satisfying, yet at the same time it could also be slippery and create a rush of lurching forward with unexpected speed and colliding.

It's in the best interest of the gameplay that mayo wrestling be added.

Has there ever been any story as to Why Mila is wearing Tina's old DOA 1 outfit? Or her grudge against Bass? Is she stalking the Armstrongs?

She doesnt have a grudge against bass, she's a bass fangirl..trying to beat him is just her competitive nature going after the best opponent in her mind. She has tina's old outfit because she just does.. it came in the first ever DLC pack and fits her well anyway.

yea art style has nothing to do with it, they just are not using a new engine or giving this a big budget.

Whenever this game comes out expect it to be #1 on the most imported game of the month for PS Vita (and maybe PS4) after the announcement of our version being "edited" if it would ever come out.

This picture should be posted in every 'Best character redesigns' thread ever. Unbelievable work. Too beautiful for this sinful earth, and an awesome fighting style to boot.

Kokoro is my personal favorite redesign. I really disliked her design in DOA4, but in DOA5 she is one of my favorite.

Not enough of a upgrade for this gen consoles. Get some tressFX in there, massively improve shaders and polycount. I want Uncharted4 quality nekid girls in this.

I dont know what it is, but Team Ninjas game still barely look better than their last batch of OG Xbox games. Something about those textures, man.

I realize Im wrong on this, but looking at those screens its hard to notice a difference. Surely I cant be the only one?

There's not much of a jump as I hoped there'd be. Kasumi (?) still looks like a lifeless doll, and the hair doesn't look any more complicated than it did in the original Xbox game.

Looks like it's up to Namco with SCVI to bring us true next gen hotties.

Is the gameplay in these actually fun or do people just play them for the ladies?

What do you think?
Well, i played the first one on Xbox, whenever that one came out back in the day, and the beach volley part was no Beach Spikers, but it was still sort of fun.
The game however was incredibly frustrating, because you had to wait and go through all this nonsense before you could play another game (get gifts, buy swimsuits etc, all done through menus, no less) and then there would be like these soft core videos you would trigger, of the girls rolling around in the sand and shit.
Which is why i didn't really bother with the sequel, i just found it boring, even as a teenager.

The structure of the game feels like a big waste of time, unless you're really into watching 3d ladies go on a swing (i don't even like the DOA characters, so that's not for me).
BUT, to each their own, the game clearly became targeted toward its very specific niche, so fine with me.
It could include the dudes as an easy way to expand its market while maintaining the style, though.

While the models and some of the designs themselves are pretty great now, I wish DOA would have kept its distinct style. The plastic dolls with shiny bodies looks great and were immediately recognizable as DOA-models. Now you could throw in models from Tekken or something and wouldn't notice a difference.

also, I greatly enjoyed the first doa x in a non-ssxual way. silly but fun game.

I probably wouldn't buy an SSXual tbh.

joke posts?
Lol at the Tekken bodies when the polycount is way lower (DOA5 had some of the highest polycount per character last gen, hence the lack of details/polish for the stages) and haven't many details (even in 7)
For the "no differences with the old plastic doll look"...

I completely agree that the stages are still lacking, and that the models have been barely upgraded, but the latter still hold up really well. They won't spend budget on that when they'll do that for 6.

Did you guys know that Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball 1 & 2 for Xbox and Xbox 360 have sold 425,000 combined units in the USA at retail.

Same here. Such a huge improvement.

We need a graph for that. :P Seriously though, that's pretty good isn't it?

i just want to check, this is a ps4 game right

If you're genuinely asking, yes (and Vita, but no screens yet for this one, will probably look slightly better than 5+).
If this is an attempt at sarcasm, please show better female character models. It's a niche game, they won't spend a lot of budget to remodel hundreds of assets for nothing. This is one beach based on the old DOA5 beach stage. Since then, a new one (PS4-only) has been released, where you can see the difference between old assets (like the rocks) and the new ones (like the boat shop). Those are early development screenshots with nothing new shown yet in terms of stages.

Better than I thought considering how niche it is.
